Susan Colwell purchased this house in 2014
Manager Susan Colwell: 'I was walking through historic Fells Point, along the waterfront enjoying the shops and the street scenes. After an amazing lunch on Thames St., I decided to walk a few of the side streets and discovered a quaint little street just off the waterfront. The street was so charming—it reminded me of a small street in an ancient European village with it's flower boxes (Tons and tons of flower boxes!!) and adorable brick homes. Every home seemed to have a bench and flower-pot gardens were definitely the point of pride here. When I saw that Fells Point Charmer was for sale, I knew we had to have it!'
Old-world charm with a luxurious modern twist!
Unfortunately, our stay at the Wells Point Charmer was interrupted by a busted water pipe. Temperatures in Baltimore were extremely frigid the night before our arrival and the water pipe suffered the consequences. As soon as our host was aware of the problem, they contacted our office who in turn contacted us. We were able to communicate with Ms. Colwell via iMessage during our flight between Dallas and Baltimore. Ms. Colwell offered two options to resolve the problem: 1) they would immediately refund the entire amount of our reservation and we could book our own alternative accomodations; or 2) they would book us two suites at the historic 1840 Carrollton Inn. We chose the latter.
The Inn was beautiful and the staff extremely accommodating. It was also very close to everything we had planned to do. We ordered our breakfast delivered to our room each morning and it was absolutely delicious.
Despite being faced with a huge catastrophe, our Fells Point Charmer host could not have taken better care of us. Hopefully, we'll get to stay with them on our next trip to Baltimore.
Great house! Close to inner Harbor. Easy check-in and departure. Great communication with owner via the app. We would stay here again.
Great place and perfect for the visit that my brother had to Hopkins. Owner's rep Marcia was excellent. Will definitely recommend and stay again.
Just stayed 2 nights here and it was perfect. All the restaurants and shops in fells point are in walking distance. Thames street oyster bar is a must try! we never did find a grocery store in walking distance though so that was abit hard. Glad we had brought some groceries with us from our prior stop
We will definitely return the next time we are in Baltimore!
Upon arrival we knew we had made a good choice in this rental. It was clean, well kept, and despite being located right outside downtown, it felt homey. Susan was very helpful in accommodating our spontaneous arrival, which is probably dependent on the rental's availability the day before you get there, but it proved she was willing to help, and quick at responding.
It was conveniently located in Fells Point, right between Canton and Harbor East. All three offer different things, but are within a couple miles either direction. For runners, there's great routes by the harbor, for eaters, there's a myriad of restaurant options to keep your days busy, all within walking distance.
The added benefits of cable, Netflix (with personal account) and Hulu made for nice evenings there. Add the warm environment the home offered, and it really was a great way to be downtown without feeling like it. Definitely recommend staying here for your next trip to Baltimore!
We found a relatively secluded three story row house located on quaint, quiet Durham Street about two blocks from the stores, restaurants and bars of Thames Street in Fells Point. The small two bedroom home was very comfortable and well suited for us, a retired couple in our mid-to late 60’s returning home to Baltimore for the first time in years. There was a eclectic modern look to the refurnished premises wth exposed brick walls, hard wood floors in a two bedroom, two bath, three floor site plan. Having been born and raised in a larger West Baltimore version of the older Durham St. home, we were pleasantly surprised by the style and comfort of the rehabbed structure. The pictures on the website give an accurate portrayal of the property. It’s very nice.
It takes a bit of time to get used to the narrow metal staircase spiraling from first floor to the second floor and the steep narrow wooden stairway leading to the third floor. In time, however, we managed to traverse the home from top to bottom without much problem. There is no powder room on first floor; but you soon appreciate that the low ceilings of the home provide you easy access to the second floor bath. The first floor kitchen was very nice with modern appliances sharing space with a well placed dining area, a large screen wall mounted TV (with Netflix), living room couch, coffee table and an attractive electronic heating unit disguised as a fireplace. Beyond the kitchen, there is a lovely back outdoor sitting area for four. On the second floor there is a bedroom with a hallway leading to a bath and a small balcony overlooking the umbrella covering the outdoor first floor sitting area. We loved the keyless entry, to the home even though it took a literal reading of the instructions to understand the first time entry. The premises were clean and well maintained. This is a part of Baltimore where parking comes at a premium. Fortunately, the owner has provided a prime parking space approximately two and one half blocks away. If you have a car, the space will be an important amenity.
Obviously, we liked the place very much and found it comfortable with easy access to Fells Point, downtown and the federal highways. We would rent it again. I would recommend the property to my friends and neighbors so long as they had no disability. We loved the food at the Thames St. Oyster House and the luggage at the Treason Tote Company, also on Thames Street.
Fell's Point is a historic waterfront neighborhood (circa1763) in the southeastern area of Baltimore along the north shore of the Baltimore Harbor and the Northwest Branch of the Patapsco River. There are many shops, including antique stores, restaurants, coffee bars, music stores, a municipal market house with individual stalls, and over 120 pubs. Located just east of the famous 'Inner Harbor' (formerly referred to as 'The Basin') adjacent to Baltimore's downtown central business district and the Jones Falls stream (which splits the city, running from northern Baltimore County), Fell's Point has a maritime past and has the air of a seafaring town, it also has the greatest concentration of drinking establishments and restaurants in the city. This waterfront community is a tourist destination. It can be reached by 'water taxi' barges, expressway/interstate highways, local streets and boulevards and several municipal/state transit bus lines.
