About Jill

I've spent a good part of the last 15 years on the North Shore of Oahu and now call it home. I love having properties that my friends and family can enjoy. I take care of my properties full-time so I think you'll find them clean and up-to-date.

Jill purchased this studio in 2014

Why Jill chose Haleiwa

I bought this property because I think the beach down the street is a true hidden gem on the North Shore. It really feels private and I love that it is swimmable year-round. It's amazing to be able to swim and also watch great surfing!

What makes this studio unique

The property and the beach feel more like the true, less crowded Hawaii. It is also 3 miles to Turtle Bay if you want to go out, shop or have a nice meal out.

Clean and cozy. Almost everything was provided, including pots and pans and an electric stove.

My husband and I enjoyed staying at this adorable studio. It’s in front of another home that has long-term tenants, but they were quiet and friendly and didn’t bother us at all. The area is safe and quiet, it’s also near Turtle Bay and the awesome Ted’s Bakery and 20 mins plus from Haleiwa. It does take about an hour or so to drive to Honolulu and Waikiki, but like the hosts had advised us, you really don’t need to make the trips there as the North Shore has a lot to offer in terms of food, beaches and things to do.

There’s a Foodland nearby and food trucks, and the most awesome-mest poke at this non-descript supermarket in Kahuku, called Kahuku Superette, about 15 mins away. The other famous Giovanni’s shrimp truck is in Kahuku too.

But most of all, what added to our awesome stay at this studio is that it was so easy to work with Jill and Dan Paulin. We met Dan in person when we got there as well, and he was really helpful and friendly. Jill was always prompt with her replies to my questions — I had a lot — and she provided us with the necessary info once the complete payments were made, and included a list of things to do and places to eat at that really helped us out. They had clear instructions on what to do, etc., and I appreciated that greatly.

This studio is lovely for two people, just enough space for us to hang out at and chill when we needed to rest. I loved the shower, and I liked the space saving environment too. The Paulins provided almost everything in the studio, and you can do light cooking there as well. There was a microwave, electric stove, pots and pans, cutlery, plates, mugs and a toaster oven. There was also cable TV and WiFi.

If you are looking for a nice, affordable, clean, safe place to stay along the North Shore, I highly recommend this cute, little studio. Also, if you go around the end of November, you might be able to watch the surfing competitions that are happening around Sunset Beach.

All in all, we had an awesome vacation and stay here, and the next time we’re back to the North Shore, we’ll most probably stay here again.

Owner's Response: We really appreciate you taking the time to write a detailed review. As fellow travelers, we know how important it is to get another guest's perspective on the place and location. I hope you can come back soon....maybe even during the spring or summer when the waves are calm and you can swim and snorkel right down the street. Aloha and Safe Travels!

Great location, clean, and had everything we needed

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed staying here for our North Shore visit. I liked that we were surrounded by residents instead of tourists. Using the provided bikes was very fun for my my girlfriend and I; she said she felt like a kid again biking around to meet our friends. Dogs across the street woke up my gf a couple nights but I slept through it. Hopefully this place is still available on the future for when we visit again!

Comfortable well designed space

  • 5 of 5

We fully enjoyed our 9 day stay in this newly renovated studio. The owners were very easy to communicate with and responded to the inquiries quickly and helped us understand the washer/dryer. This location is fantastic for any of the beaches on the North Shore. The two bike provided were the ideal transportation to Three Tables, Sharks Cove, Sunset Bonzai, Pipeline and Velzyland. Velzyland is about 200 yards from the front door. The air-conditioning system in this studio is high end and very comfortable for sleeping! If you want to enjoy the North Shore vibe, walking or riding the 4 mile bike path down the back bone of these spectacular beaches is the way to enjoy it. As you ride the path just zip down any of the 30 or more public access paths and see what you find, always beautiful and changing!

great place to explore the north shore!

  • 5 of 5

Great location very close to the beach, interior looks brand new and very clean, everything you need is available like comfy beach chairs, beach towels, laundry machine and kitchen utensils! Very cute dog on the property (and I am usually afraid of dogs!) We had a great time and would certainly stay here again if we ever get the chance to come back to hawaii!

The property is as described and beautiful.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful visit on the North Shore. The ocean/beaches are beautiful. Not swimable in October, which was disclosed. Was just being hopeful as this was the only time we were able to get away. Seven Brothers Burgers is the best and inexpensive. We are at numerous food trucks, which was expensive and ok. The Shrimp Shack truck east on Kam Hwy was the best. Loved, loved, loved Pancho (beautiful and snuggable dog).

I give it a 4 because the neighbors dog across the street woke us at 1:00 am barking. It only occurred one night. All in all a very relaxing vacation. Thanks Jill for all the information you provided and help with the barking.

On a side note---there was a lot of trash and graffiti everywhere along the highways, homes not cared for and lots of homeless people.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at my place on the North Shore. I'm sorry about the neighbor's dog. I guess this happens once in awhile when staying in a neighborhood (versus hotel or resort setting). For readers, the beach down the street has a great area where one can swim year-round. I spent 6 months, including the winter, and swam everyday. It is amazing that you can take a dip and still see the surfers on big waves out in the distance, beyond the reef. I don't think we have many homeless, and the ones I know are very conscientious helping keep the beaches and public areas clean. I don't think the side note about trash, graffiti and care for homes is fair. This part of the island is referred to as the "Country", but it isn't because we don't care for the land and our homes. I hope you were able to take the Aloha vibe back home with you.
