About Frank & Christel DeVita

Frank & Christel DeVita both graduates of the University of Vermont built this home and raised their 3 (now-grown) daughters here on Fieldstone Drive. Now semi-retired, they spend most of their time in North Carolina, but often visit Vermont to see friends & family.

Frank & Christel DeVita purchased this house in 1997

Why Frank & Christel DeVita chose Williston

We will never forget our first impression... In 1995 we drove up onto the meadow on the tractor's access to meet the land-owner David Isham. We were expecting our 2nd child, and our eldest was fast asleep in her car-seat in the Jeep. The sun was setting over the ridge, and the friendly Vermont farmer in front of us was truly genuine as he offered insight on the history of his back-forty. The land had been in his family since the 1860's, and he had worked it with his father and sons, as part of the dairy farm that had been going for generations. After a few minutes, we stepped aside & looked at each other and new from that point on that this was truly a beautiful place and that we wanted to be a part of it.

The Ishams were very patient as we collected all of our resources and worked very hard to tastefully develop the parcel while conserving the open meadow & prime agricultural lands.

A lot of history was made on this property in the 20+ years since then. It has been a wonderful place to call home and to raise our daughters - more wonderful than words. Now as we enter into more chapters of our lives, we would like to share this special place with others to enjoy.

What makes this house unique

Fieldstone in Williston truly is one of a kind. This Vermont country home mixes tradition with modern in a unique private setting. The distant ridge-line and pastoral views on this 35-acre rolling meadow are truly breathtaking.

The house was actually designed by Christel and built by Frank - who together form a great team! Its traditional floor-plan is combined with modern conveniences. The craftsmanship displays both the authenticity of its Georgian-time-frame architecture and latest advances to offer a perfect combination.

The property is also truly unique. The 2000 x 35 foot road is impressive as it winds through the countryside up to the 300' paved driveway leading to the beautiful home. Once there, you are situated at the SE corner of the large-acre parcel. The immediate yard is 2.5 acres of well-maintained lush green grass surrounded by a 600' 3-rail hardwood fence. Beyond the fence lies rolling pasture that offers privacy and plenty of room for enjoyment.

Guestbook comments from the owner

First and foremost, the setting is truly stunning. Every day, we are amazed by a sunrise, sunset, or just natural pastoral beauty. With the fields, the long driveway, and hiking trails across the road, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery and get some exercise at the same time.

Secondly, the house is terrific. It's well furnished, has plenty of room, and provides plenty of different living spaces. We didn't have any problems. Everything worked very well. You've clearly taken great care of your home!

Third, the location is not only beautiful, but incredibly convenient. Taft Corners with all of its stores and services is a mere 10 minute drive; Burlington is 15 minutes; and access to the highway is also within 5-10 minutes.

Finally, you've been terrific hosts. You've been responsive to all of our requests and very accommodating. It's really been a wonderful experience for my entire family. If I can be of any help or answer any questions for prospective renters, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks again, Rob

Lovely home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

A group of 9 of our friends recently spent a long weekend here, and we loved it. The house is exactly the same as the pictures and is very clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed for the weekend. The property is beautiful, the house is also conveniently located to Burlington and Lake Champlain, and other farms/farmers markets and hiking trails. Would definitely recommend!

Wonderful Country House

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 11 stayed at this wonderful country house for a long weekend and it was perfect. The house has everything you need--pots, pans, dishes, silverware, paper products, bathroom products, excellent bedding and comfortable furniture. The owners have thought of everything. It was spotlessly clean and perfectly maintained. There is a lovely outdoor deck with gas grill, and a huge lawn for family games. It is out in the beautiful Vermont countryside, situated in a postcard perfect setting. It is very private. Burlington is an easy 20 minute drive. This was one of the most well appointed homes we have rented. I would highly recommend it and I hope to plan another family weekend here someday.

Impeccably clean, spacious and private get away!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of eight stayed at Frank and Cristal's place over a long weekend in October and the place was perfect. The house was so clean and had every amenity you could hope for (a fully stocked kitchen including a blender and griddle, blow dryers, even toiletries in case you had forgotten your own). The place was very spacious and we enjoyed playing games on the huge lawn outside. The leaves were changing in Vermont while we were there and the views directly out our windows were some of the best ones around! The house is only a short drive to Williston for groceries, pharmacies, etc. and there are plenty of farmers' markets around for fresh produce. We would definitely recommend this place!

Vermont Farm House

  • 5 of 5

We recently rented this house for a family reunion. We have rented several homes over the past couple of years and this house was by far the best maintained, cleanest, and well-stocked house we've seen. The details the owners have gone to to make anyone renting this house comfortable and informed on how to find supplies, empty the trash, run the TV, etc, etc, sets a new level for other owners to reach. In addition, the home is very close to shops, grocery stores, movies, and interstate highways. Very easy to reach any destination in the Burlington area from this house. If you want an excellent experience, rent this house. You won't be disappointed.
