Charming and Quiet!

  • 5 of 5

We were planning a ski trip to the Poconos, and we wanted to stay someplace reasonably close to activities, but quiet. We found it here! The directions and information provided were very helpful, and we arrived without any problems. There are several other cottages which share the driveway, but they are not all on top of each other, and they were also very quiet. You could hear the nearby Lehigh River as it flowed just down the hill.

The cottage was historic, but totally renovated and spotless. The photos and description were accurate, but it was even more charming than I expected. There were only two of us, but it could easily house 4 adults. The living room was large and open, and the kitchen was bigger than we expected, and fully stocked with utensils and soap, and even some staples like coffee. We even had a small dining area (seats 4). Also, we visited in February and it was toasty warm.

The Cottage is located just around the corner from Jack Frost and Big Boulder, and not far from Camelback and the outlets at Tannersville. The Pocono Raceway is also just a short drive away. Montage Mountain and the Mohegan Sun Casino are a little further out, but they are still within a 30-60 minute drive.

In short, YES, we would be happy to recommend the cottage! If you want to be close to activities - but you don't want to stay in a crowded, noisy resort hotel - then this is the place for you. We would love to come back in the summer or fall, too, so we could enjoy hiking, biking, or just sitting on the wraparound porch. Thank you very much for sharing the Cottage with your guests!

Lovely two-day stay

  • 4 of 5

Very pretty spot, right on the river, secluded yet right off rt 115 and close to rt 80. The cabin was clean and is spacious enough for two couples (though it was just my boyfriend and me who stayed there). Stoddartsville itself is a fascinating slice of local history (if you stay during the first weekend of the month, check out the historic center, which is open the first Saturday of every month).

There are two other cabins right next door that seem to be owned/managed by the same people. We were in the area for a wedding and more friends of the bride and groom rented the other cabins - the small compound makes for a lovely place to hold a family/friends gathering for a small group. The other two cabins are beautifully situated overlooking the stream (our cabin did not have that view, unfortunately) but the smallest one (looks like a log cabin from the VRBO pics) is VERY small. Not in a bad way- it's very cozy - just be prepared.

Fantastic! Private, well appointed cottage within easy walking distance of beautiful river views.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend in the cottage. Due to our last-minute planning and a technological glitch (the reservation calendar did not update itself), the cottage was locked and unready when we arrived. We contacted Grant, and even though it was after 11 p.m., someone set everything to rights within 10 minutes. Grant also refunded our first night's stay, since it was so late and the cottage wasn't ready for our arrival. We very much appreciated that.

Despite the unusual beginning, the rest of the weekend was lovely. The location is quiet and peaceful: lots of crickets, great starwatching, and really convenient to local state parks. We brought our dog, and he had a ball. He swam in the river and visited the goats.

The kitchen is the most well equipped of any rental we have ever stayed in: plenty of glassware, flatware, plates, and pots and pans. Dishwasher, too, although we didn't use it. We did use the charcoal grill and build a roaring fire in the firepit. In the fall, the wood-burning fireplace would be terrific. We will definitely be back.

Relaxing in style

  • 4 of 5

Amazing property right next to a flowing river. Fishing in the backyard was a plus! Only downside was the multiple holes in the yard, made it difficult for lawn activities. Housing was much nicer than expected, very contemporary yet still get to enjoy nature!

Beautiful property, full of history and charm

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Lehigh Cottage very much. The cottage is very nice; comfortable, clean, large, and pretty. The property that contains the other cabins, the fish pond, and the surrounding forest is beautiful. We especially loved the river, the falls, and the ruins. We saw rabbits, groundhogs, deer, and bats! All very exciting for two people from Philly. haha.

We stayed in for most meals and the kitchen was adequate for our needs. It was nice to have a full-sized fridge and stove in a rental cabin. We visited in August so we didn't use the fireplace, but it is handsome.

We'll definitely be back. If you get a chance, visit the little historical society museum on the property by the cemetery. It's only open once a month and is full of interesting information about the history of the area.

Oh!--also loved the goats.
