About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Apartment, 1 Block From Sunset Park

Owned by The Schmidt Family since 2001, this lovely 1905 brick home sits on a treelined block with friendly neighbors. Around the corner is the scenic and active Sunset Park with expansive western views of New York Harbor, Manhattan, Staten Island and New Jersey from one of the highest points in Brooklyn.

The separate apartment has its own private entrance below the front stoop of this one family home. Enter the airy, open living room through a cheerful vestibule welcoming guests to a sitting area by the windows with contemporary furniture and a sturdy, comfortable sleeper couch. At the other end is the bright fully equipped corner kitchen with stone counter tops and the dining area set around a french country table. Original art is hung throughout the apartment of which many are made by local Brooklyn artists. The loft bedroom up two steps from the living area is cozy with a queen bed, a modern bureau and ensuite bathroom only accessible through the bedroom. (Attention:Ceiling height is 6’3” in bedroom.)

The apartment is best for 2 people but can accommodate up to 4.

Free WiFi included.

Located on residential block between Brooklyn’s Chinatown(8th Ave), Latin American(5th Ave), Waterfront Bush Terminal Park (Soccer and Baseball playing fields) and Industry City(2nd Ave). The Avenues are filled with ethnic groceries and restaurants, shops and pharmacies. Sunset Park still offers an affordable place to shop and experience a vibrant, multicultural stroll. Just 2.5 blocks down the hill to 45th Street Station (Local R Train) and 1 stop(or a 10min. walk through the park) to 36th Street Station(Express D & N Trains), it is a great location to access Manhattan(approximately 30 minutes) and other parts of hip Brooklyn. The local 5th Ave bus takes you through Park Slope to the Barclay’s Center and down to Brooklyn Heights Waterfront Park. Historic Sunset Park located 1 block away, offers green open spaces and shaded tree spots. It also has a playground, chess tables, handball courts, soccer, basketball, and in summer free swimming pool access in art deco recreation center built by WPA in the 1930’s.

The Schmidt Family welcomes you to their home and hope that you enjoy discovering Sunset Park as you visit the Greater New York City area!

Outstanding Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Don't pass up this wonderful apartment. We were a family of 4 ( 2 kids) and fit comfortably in this very nice and very clean Brooklyn apartment. The area was very safe with great restaurants in every direction. Close to sunset park with amazing views of manhatten. Neighborhood is a great mix of diverse cultures. Just a few blocks to the train station. The owners were friendly and quick to answer any questions we had. Would definitely stay again

A Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this cozy, charming and well-stocked apartment. Elise was extremely accommodating, true to previous reviews, and she was helpful via long distance even as she was out of town most of the time that we were there. Her husband Steve also made himself available and helped us with an ironing board. The bedroom was dark, cool and the mattress was comfortable, important elements for us to ensure good sleep. We appreciated the kind gestures of a few small breakfast items left for us and a thoughtful neighborhood guide created by our hosts to help with recommended coffee shops, restaurants and public transportation. The apartment sits on a quiet street straddling bustling Chinatown and a Latin American neighborhood, which made for an exciting and enjoyable cultural experience, and we felt safe walking late at night as well. The access to the subway, Sunset Park and many ethnic shops and restaurants made this a memorable location and it was nice to stay in a Brooklyn neighborhood that hasn't been impacted by gentrification and chain businesses yet. Thank you!

PEACE OF MIND.......PRICELESS! FANTASTIC VALUE!

  • 5 of 5

Feel SOOOOOO lucky to have found this WONDERFUL HomeAway Apartment in Brooklyn! Elise is THE BEST HOSTESS we could have hoped for! So easy to communicate with, and willing to offer guidance to the overwhelmed Single Mom traveling with her Teen....for the first time in NYC. Elise has a great welcome packet prepared to greet guests, with loads of information about the neighborhood and NYC.

The Apartment was SPOTLESS. Kitchen had EVERY appliance, utensil, and dish we could have possibly needed, even if our visit was much longer than 8 nights. The mattress in the private bedroom was SUPER comfy! "Fresh air" served to cool things off and serve as White Noise. Hot water immediately available in the shower, every time. Also appreciated the plush, nice sized bath towels.

Surprisingly quiet, but only 3.5 blocks from the subway! Grocery also within 3 blocks, but could have easily grabbed all our meals (and THE BEST bagels, baked in house!) from Sunset Bagels, open 24 hours.

Breathtaking Sunset Park within blocks offer spectacular views of NYC! Love the ethnic feel of The 'Hood.

We look forward to returning many times, since of course, there's SO much of NYC yet to discover!

Thank you Elise (and family!)

Absolutely splendid.

  • 5 of 5

Elise was wonderful, and made our stay very comfortable! She literally thought of everything. (: It was such a convenient location - right around the corner from Sunset Park - my companion and I just loved it. Would most certainly recommend both Elise as host, and her lovely apartment, for the most wonderful Brooklyn stay.

Happiness in the "heart" of Brooklyn

  • 5 of 5

My venture into a "new," for me, part of Brooklyn was a delightful discovery and the circumstances under which I made that discovery couldn't have been more comfortable. Elise's apartment is tastefully furnished, meticulously clean, conveniently close to bus and subway, and well-stocked with those startup essentials - i.e. coffee, English muffins, butter - that made for a warm welcome. And when I realized I had forgotten to pack my clock, Elise immediately filled that void. The perfect host! While lacking the expensively renovated brownstone "charm" of some other Brooklyn neighborhoods, Sunset Park has a colorful, multi-ethnic vibrancy, which I found endearing, and the huge nearby park is a big plus. It grows on you, as my son, who recently moved there with his children, is discovering. It's what Brooklyn is all about. I definitely plan to return.
