Enjoy the charm of New Orleans living in an historic Victorian Camelback, built in 1861.

This is one of two mirror image apartments in the same house. You can see it, as well as our reviews, by searching Property ID # 3513220.

Close to everything; walk 3 blocks to world famous Commanders Palace, stroll down oak and mansion lined St. Charles Ave, go antiquing on Magazine St, ride the St. Charles Streetcar down to the French Quarter or up to the Universities and Audubon Park, visit the WWII Museum, and dine at any of the myriad of restaurants that make New Orleans a foodie paradise.

This lovingly restored one bedroom, one bath apartment is perfect for a romantic getaway. Enormous pocket doors, high ceilings, and a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the porch are just a few of the architectural details to delight the eye. The beautiful new kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal, if you ever get tired of dining out. The living room is large and comfortable with satellite TV, WiFi and a convertible sofa. The bedroom has a memory foam queen size bed and a black-out roman shade for the mornings you want to sleep in. The gorgeous new bathroom is accessed through the bedroom so it is best suited for a couple or a small family. High quality linens and towels are provided. Street parking is usually easy to find. Off-street parking may be available across the street.

Check-in is any time after 4 pm and check-out is at 11 am. The apartment is set up for easy self check-in but, if you prefer, we can arrange to meet you and show you around the apartment. We live in Apt 4, another unit in the building. We are available to answer questions and give recommendations.

Maximum occupancy is 2 adults, per the City of New Orleans. One child can be added for an additional fee.

Surveillance cameras monitor the exterior, publicly accessible areas of our home.

Some Special Events and stays of 30 days or longer may require a larger refundable Security Deposit and/or additional cleaning fees, to be determined at time of booking.

All sales and deposits are final for Special Events (defined as any period with rates that differ from the standard nightly rate).

What makes this condo unique

Our home is an historic shotgun camelback double built in 1861. Somewhere down the line it was converted into a 4-plex so all the bedrooms are independent, unlike a traditional shotgun. Many of the architectural flourishes that make New Orleans homes so charming are still intact. We love this old house and have been slowly restoring it to its original beauty. The neighborhood is perfect for us; we are a block from the streetcar, walking distance to so much, and our neighbors are wonderful. We enjoy this property immensely and love to share it with our guests.

Magical

Sometimes the world is magical. This was one of those times.

My girlfriend and I had never been to New Orleans, and wanted to visit for years. We had a break in March and decided to stop saying "one day" and go. We looked at every hotel, VRBO, etc, and found nothing good in the location we wanted and price range.

Then we found a listing with photos of the renovation in progress and explanations of what the owner said the property would be. The price was right, the location good (we knew we wanted the Garden District) and we had a good feeling, so we booked.

A few weeks later, the renovation complete, Corinna emailed the photos you see here.

Wow.

It was better than we expected. As you can see, Corinna and Michele lovingly restored this classic New Orleans home, keeping the appointments that complete the charm and updating with things a modern traveler would want. They did a spectacular job, and the home is comfortable and elegant and included lovely details not listed in the description. You can read of the amenities above, and I can vouch for their accuracy. But that isn't what makes this place magical.

What makes it magical is Corinna and Michele. They have put so much time and love into this home, and continued to put time and love into our stay from the moment we arrived. They were there to welcome us, tell us about the neighborhood, recommend some food (we got in at dinner time), and just generally make us feel at home. They made sure we were settled before leaving us to explore. The next day, Corinna texted to check in and see if we needed anything. Later in the week Corinna emailed a detailed list of the many parades and events happening that weekend (St Patrick's, by a stroke of luck). They did everything possible to ensure our stay was magical. And it was.

The location is also magical. The home is in the heart of the quiet and beautiful Garden District. It's 1 min walk to the spectacular St Charles (where you can catch the streetcar or a cab) and 5 to Magazine. It's walking distance to Commander's, Columns, Coquette, Atchafalaya, Casamento's, Mr John's and countless other restaurants. It's by two of the most famous cemeteries in NOLA. We found ourselves repeatedly noticing how perfect the location was over the course of our stay, and saying that we couldn’t have planned it better if we tried.

We fell in love with this city, and we will return. When we do, we will stay here.

And it will be magical.

Beautiful and perfect location

The Camelback Guest house Apt. 1 was beautiful and just as shown in the pictures! Upon arrival we were greeted by Corinna and her husband and shown the property. Everything in the apartment was stocked nicely and the snacks and King Cake were a pleasant surprise. The location of the apartment was absolutely perfect and within a short walk to the parades on St. Charles and Magazine Street. When we travel back to New Orleans in the future, we will definitely stay here again!

Amazing Place to stay while enjoying New Orleans

We felt that we had the perfect "anchor" for our visit to New Orleans. Everything was first class and well thought out. the kitchen had all the amenities of Home, and this theme was carried through the entire house. Plus our Hosts were so accomodating, and available to answer any and all questions that arose. And the Garden District is perfectly situated while visiting New Orleans; the Saint Charles Trolley line is a short walk.

I would highly recommend the Camelback Guest House.

Great apartment, wonderful hosts, one-of-a-kind city!

My husband and I spent a few days recently at the Camelback Guest House in New Orleans. We love architecture, so we were happy to take in all the amazing mansions and buildings of the Garden District, but as the location of this apartment is very near St. Charles street and the trolley, we also were able to experience some wonderful meals and shopping. Of course, we took in the sights and sounds of the French Quarter ... but I am a bit of a home body, and I really enjoyed relaxing in our very own (temporarily!) historic apartment, which Michael and Corina have beautifully renovated to modern standards while retaining its elegance and charm. Our vacation was short, but just what we both needed to recharge. If you are in need of some terrific sight-seeing, great shopping, amazing dining, and lots of relaxation, I highly recommend you begin your stay in New Orleans at the Camelback Guest House.

Very accommodating owners

Became our quiet home in the Garden District. So easy to get around by streetcar in New Orleans, east to the French Quarter by scenic ride, or west to the Universities and Audubon Park. (Washington stop just a block south).
