About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4- More If Children

This is a large property at the end of a quiet road, with a 30X60 patio on the lake for sunning, relaxing, entertaining and evening campfires. The patio is equipped with comfortable lounge furniture, a gas barbeque, and tables for eating as well as a fire pit for long evenings by the fire. The views from the patio include amazing sunrises, waterfowl, and the lights of St. Albans, Vermont in the distance. Although the lake affords all types of water sports, this area is quiet and mostly used by the residents of this private summer community, respectful of their neighbor's need for solitude. The private dock will keep your boat near at hand for spontaneous outings. There is a sand beach within walking distance for you to enjoy. Your vacation will be made even more enjoyable by the furnishings, decor and amenities of your rental, including central air if you need it. We have thought of everything, including games, stereo system, cable TV, video and lending library. Come and enjoy.

The Champlain Islands: Possibly the most beautiful spot on the planet, with so many things to do- you won't know what to do first. The Lake Champlain Islands have more shoreline and islands than any other part of Vermont. Here a traveler may come upon breathtaking views at any bend in the road. Located between two great cities, Montreal, Quebec and Burlington, Vermont, our small towns and stunning scenery offer quiet rural charm. Enjoy lakeside dining, hiking and biking trails, as well as year-round fishing, boating and golf. Sample local cheeses, chocolate and wines. Feast in autumn on apples, cider and pies, while shopping for antiques and mementos. Explore one of the world's oldest coral reefs, New England's oldest log cabin, and other historic sites. Or bask on a sandy beach in one of our private beaches or State Parks. Stay a day, a week or a lifetime!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Irene,

We just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay in your lovely lakeside apartment. It was so well arranged and equipped that we didn't have to worry about a thing for our whole vacation. The swimming, boating and fishing were wonderful and, afterwards, we always felt so relaxed. We relished preparing great meals using the fresh Island produce in your kitchen and fish or steaks on the barbeque and then eating on the terrace while watching the light change on the beautiful lake. Perfect ends to perfect days.

We also appreciated your recommendations for all the local attractions like the Lipizzaner Horses, interesting antique shops and wonderful local restaurants. Everyone that you recommended was so welcoming and we certainly look forward to our next visit to the Islands.

Needless to say, we intend to repeat our stay in your lakeshore apartment.

Yours truly,

Lenore and John Ledman

Incredible views!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location & home for a relaxing trip.

Irene made us feel very welcome and was able to answer all of our questions, especially a great help with directions to the metro to park & a market to visit in Montreal (approx 1hr 10) as well as the beautiful Notre Dame Basilica which made for an wonderful day trip.

Location was SO perfect on the lake, home had all we needed & we spent evenings relaxing, dining on the patio and enjoying the view.

We biked around the islands - the tour of Isle La Motte was a lovely ride and we started at St Anne’s Shrine and stopped in at Fiskes quarry on the loop. Other trips to North Hero State Park and down to the marina.

People on the islands were very welcoming and helpful.

A wonderful place and time!

Lovely lakeside retreat

  • 5 of 5

Heron's Rest is a wonderful place to go to get away from it all! I don't think there is a prettier spot on Lake Champlain. The patio is located right on the water and the view is incredible. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets! It was delightful to walk out the door and be at a beautiful lakeside retreat. My husband and I throughly enjoyed relaxing on the patio, drinking wine while drinking in the view! We kayaked, swam, biked and walked around the neighborhood and are looking forward to returning and doing more of the same.

The unit is very well equipped and quite comfortable. There are a lot of extras that we did not expect, like a popcorn popper and an ice cream maker. Irene has thought of everything and then some so you really just need to pack your clothes and some sunscreen and you'll be ready for your vacation.

Peaceful and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This week was just about the best one anyone could imagine. This is a spectacular spot...right on the lake with beautiful views and unbelievable beauty! There is opportunity to get out on the water and enjoy a day on the lake.

The condo is comfortable with heat and air conditioning available as needed and a newly renovated bathroom with a tub for relaxing and a separate shower is as modern as can be. The owner is most helpful without ever disturbing ones privacy, an important aspect for me.

My only regret is that I could not stay longer.

Never got tired of the view....

  • 5 of 5

This was our first vacation in Vermont and we really enjoyed ourselves. The picture of the property is exactly where we spent most of our time at the house. The patio is very large and we just loved it at every time of the day. We enjoyed the morning coffee there, the lazy sunny afternoons, and the fire pit at night. We travelled from Philadelphia and each day was cool and beautiful. House was perfect for just the two of us. The owner is very diligent and attentive at thinking through the specifics that we'd need in the house, so literally all she told me to bring were my "water shoes" because the beach is shale and not sand. That was it. Everything else was at the house. There are a few markets and tons of farms all about 15-20 minutes away from the property. Plenty of good food and good views to be had in Vermont. We loved the state and we loved the place. We'll be back to try different seasons there. North Hero is a jewel. A quiet, beautiful find. For peace, and views, cool summer nights, and tasty produce, this is your spot. We'll be back.

Truly a Vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

It has been a long time since my husband and I were able to take a break from work and we needed something clean, quiet, and peaceful. Irene's place was perfect. Everything we could possibly need was there and waiting for us. All you need to bring is your clothes and your food. The kitchen has everything you need and there are grills for outdoors as well. Having never been to Vermont, we didn't have a clue about the location and how close everything was. Irene gave us advice on what to see and where to eat. The house book is comprehensive and is loaded with information. We traveled with our small dog, George, who also enjoyed the trip. He made a few friends during our morning and evening walks - literally every single person we met there was extremely nice and very welcoming. During our stay we took a wonderful day trip to Burlington and had a fabulous lunch. We also went to Montreal for lunch on another day. Both places were very dog friendly - George is good at under table dining! Each day we had a nice breakfast on the patio on the lake and then drove to someplace new during the day. Every evening we ate in and enjoyed the spectacular view right on the lake. In our week there I read a book, completed two of Irene's jigsaw puzzles and watched a couple of movies. My husband read, watched a couple movies and went into total relaxation mode. We didn't take advantage of the paddle boat simply because we didn't get around to it. Our only complaint is that we were not quite ready to leave. Another week would have been perfect. We are planning to return, possibly in the fall or next summer - it will be two weeks next time! Thanks Irene!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kids words, Catherine, Roy and George. I am thrilled when guests find this place as beautiful as I do. You were the perfect guests- loving every minute. And you mentioned coming back- please do- any time at all. The seasons are all beautiful- summer on the lake, Autumn with the golden leaves and farmer's harvest, winter with it's beautiful and ever changing snow scenes, and spring- when the whole thing begins again. Hope to see you all in the future! Thanks for the great review!

Perfect Vacation Rental - Wonderful Host!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Irene's immaculately clean and warmly appointed rental was perfect for our mini-family reunion. The spacious deck overlooking the gorgeous lake provided space for cookouts, marshmallow roasting, games, and relaxed reading while the inside amenities and abundant cooking and bedding supplies allowed for productive indoor time. We can't thank Irene enough for helping us plan this vacation. We will definitely be back!
