About Barbara Tennant

Owners are architects and builder of the property. While new construction in Marfa is a challenging undertaking, the result is well worth the effort.

Barbara Tennant purchased this house in 2005

Why Barbara Tennant chose Marfa

We fell in love with Marfa on our first visit and traveled back to the town from Houston two weeks later to purchase land and begin our project. The sun is dependable in Marfa. Days are always bright and nights are cool in the summer. The landscape of this area includes broad vistas that inspire artists and photographers.

What makes this house unique

Our home, situated at a highpoint outside of town offers an amazing view of the surrounding plateau. The home is cozy and has everything you may need for a comfortable stay. A Rumsford fireplace in the living area adds to the relaxing atmosphere in the winter. The 14' adobe walls keep the home cool and comfortable in the summer months. Sit in the middle of the south courtyard on a moonless night and ponder the Milky Way.

Relax at Marfa View. Regenerate your energy. Many guests who come here do not want to leave the house. They return home well rested and inspired by nature. Others enjoy drives to Big Bend, Fort Davis, Balmorhea and Alpine for the many attractions offered. Of course, Marfa provides a stimulating art scene. A tour of the Chinati Foundation is a must do.

stunning views, serene environment, beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with four other women for a girls' weekend. All of us fell in love with the house immediately. We were all so happy to be close to the town of Marfa (5 minute drive), yet situated in a private, quiet location. We all slept comfortably, enjoyed happy hours on the patio over looking the desert, and watched a spectacular thunderstorm from the comfort of the well-appointed living room. Each room has wonderful views. Making arrangements with the owner was a great experience - very nice and helpful. A magical weekend. We all hope to return to Marfa and to this house someday.

Desert Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This home has great energy, all the comforts you need and the best views in Marfa. It was nice staying "out of town" (by 2 minutes!) to enjoy the desert views. We saw roadrunners, jack rabbits, antelope and horses out here. Being able to use the fireplace on a cold night was wonderful. The beds were comfy, and the layout of the home feels great. Really enjoyed our stay!

Fabulous Property!

  • 5 of 5

We truly loved staying at this house, the location was only minutes from town but provided for a really unique experience for our family of 5. The views across the land and sunsets are amazing and honestly after seeing the hotels in town we are really glad we chose this house to stay. Don't hesitate to book it, you won't be disappointed.

A terrific house, in the perfect location for resting the eyes & the mind. Though we didn't meet, Barbara is wonderful. We arrived in the area in the dark, got a bit lost, and Barbara patiently gave us directions over the phone. We loved this place. And Marfa ain't bad either.

A tranquil respite!

  • 5 of 5

Tastefully appointed, this beautiful high desert retreat offered us the chance breathe in stars, sunsets, and sky. We were thankful each day to return from our adventures to this tranquil respite. We’ll be back, but, next time, we will plan to stay longer.
