|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Home located in Antelope Hills has an unobstructed view of the Davis Mountains and other peaks. Great location for photographers.
Home is fully equipped and sleeps 4 in two separate bedroom suites. One bedroom has queen size bed the other has two twin beds. A cot is available for a child. There are several patios and courtyards to enjoy the outdoors or you may just want to stay inside and watch the clouds and an occasional antelope go by. Sunsets and the night sky are breathtaking! t
This home will connect you to the unique landscape of the West Texas Plateau.
Owners are architects and builder of the property. While new construction in Marfa is a challenging undertaking, the result is well worth the effort.
Barbara Tennant purchased this house in 2005
We fell in love with Marfa on our first visit and traveled back to the town from Houston two weeks later to purchase land and begin our project. The sun is dependable in Marfa. Days are always bright and nights are cool in the summer. The landscape of this area includes broad vistas that inspire artists and photographers.
Our home, situated at a highpoint outside of town offers an amazing view of the surrounding plateau. The home is cozy and has everything you may need for a comfortable stay. A Rumford fireplace in the living area adds to the relaxing atmosphere in the winter. The 14' adobe walls keep the home cool and comfortable in the summer months. Sit in the middle of the south courtyard on a moonless night and ponder the Milky Way.
I love this place. The view is exspansive, the location close to Marfa is convenient, and the house is well designed and very comfortable. In a perfect world I'd have liked nightstands in the master bedroom that allowed you to read in bed and a guest room more suited to adults (bigger beds) but that doesn't stop me from wanting to come back. This is my second time and I hope to always return to what I call "home"
Thank you Barbara for sharing your lovely space.
Best View in Marfa just about says it all. You have a patio for viewing the beautiful sunrises and a patio for viewing the spectacular sunsets. Of course you also have nothing between you and the great view of the mountains. The location is far enough out of Marfa to be private but close enough to run into town for just about anything you need. We were there when the temps were moderate but on the days that the afternoons got a bit warm we would close the windows early so the afternoon heat did not warm up the cool air inside. For us, the solar passive design worked perfectly. Be sure to get directions to the house before you go since Google Maps cannot find it. Thank you Barbara for sharing your home with us.
Everything went great. The accommodations were perfect. Would definitely stay here again if we come back and recommend to others.
The house is lovely. The pictures of the view don't portray how beautiful the landscape is. It's wonderful to watch the change in the light on the mountains in the distance as the rabbits and quail put on a show just off the edge of the porch. And if you have any interest in birds, you will see them all. The house is also only two minutes from the city of Marfa itself. It's the ideal blend of quiet and away with the ability to pop into town any time to visit the sights or have a bite at one of the great places to eat. Highly recommend accept for dates when I plan to return as I don't want to compete for use of the house.
Wonderful house with beautiful views of mountains and sky. My wife and kids stayed here for two nights and wish we could of had a couple more days. Quiet and serene.
I stayed at this house over the weekend with friends and had a great time, both in the city and back at the house for enjoyable dinners on the back patio. The large house is perfectly situated on the desert grounds and within a short drive to downtown Marfa. We had a very special time experiencing all the great galleries the city had to offer, as well as everything the compound (house), had waiting for us on those special evenings. The great views, along with the cool quiet nights made for an enjoyable stay and hopefully a return visit to our desert compound.
Many of our renters spend the majority of their time enjoying the view and the peacefulness of our location. The sunsets are amazing. The sun rises and sets an hour later than regular CST because we are at the edge of Mountain time. Wonderful place to relax and get away from it all!
