About Jeanine Clendenen

We recently purchased Snowy Bluff, a spacious cabin located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Black Hills is one of our favorite destinations for our family and we are excited to use the cabin so we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. As the original owners of Snowy Bluff have in the past, we will continue to operate Snowy Bluff as a rental cabin for others to enjoy as well. This cabin has been second home and rental property since it was built in 2001. Snowy Bluff is located in Lead, South Dakota and is near snowmobile trail 7A, a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Mickelson Trail, and quick drive away from the ski slopes, golf, fishing and the night life of Deadwood. Some of our families favorite things to enjoy in the area are: Snowmobiling, fishing at Pactola Lake, tubing at Mystic Mountain, skiing at Terry Peak and of course, historic Deadwood.

Why Jeanine Clendenen chose Black Hills

One of the main attractions we had to Snowy Bluff was the 9+ acres that came with the property. The private land allows us to enjoy a breathtaking view of the black hills and the abundant wild life of South Dakota. We live only 2 hours away and have always had a special place in our heart for the black hills, making it an easy decision to own a property here for our family to enjoy.

What makes this cabin unique

One of the unique benefits we love about Snowy Bluff is the tranquility we feel on the deck. There are no other cabins in your view, just the beauty of the black hills. Yet, it is not far off the beaten path to enjoy all there is to do in the area. The cabin has a rustic feel, yet all the comforts of home are there to enjoy. An added feature is the garage space to use for all your gear, whether it be mountain bikes, snowmobiles, 4 wheelers, ski/snowboarding or for golf. After you enjoy a day of adventure, you can relax in the outdoor hot tub on the patio.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved everything about Snowy Bluff. Our favorite part was sitting around and hanging with great friends. The hot tub was very relaxing and stayed warm while we sat in it for hours. We loved the switchback road to get up here. The boys felt like they were teenagers again. Five Stars!!! Wish we had more time to spend at the cabin and explore.

Beautiful Mountainside Property

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time starting with the switchback drive up to the property (would suggest SUV or 4x4). The kids loved the drive up to and down from the property. There was plenty of wildlife too! Everything was clean/well appointed and we all loved the pool table and hot tub. Breakfast out on the deck overlooking the valley below was another highlight! The property was remote enough to give us the privacy we wanted, yet close enough to town for access to necessities and attractions.

We had a flight cancellation at the beginning of our trip and Jeanine was extremely understanding and helpful. She worked with us and she made sure we had the full week we had planned on. The property was very spacious and we could have accommodated another family of 5 easily.

We would definitely stay here again and recommend this property to friends and family!

It was better than we imagined.

  • 5 of 5

The directions to the cabin were accurate and we found it right away. If you are not use to mountain roads, the road to the cabin can be intimidating. We pulled a 30 ft trailer with a half ton pickup and had no problems getting up the switchback. We saw a car take the road as well. The cabin is at the end of the road offering a very private setting. The cabin was clean and everything was in order. It's a beautiful cabin with a nice view. Our 3 and 6 year old had a blast. We spent most nights in the hot tub soaking in the view. We also did some ATVing. You can be on good trails in 5 minutes from the cabin. There is also some really easy trails that my 6 year old was able to ride his dirtbike on that are very close to the cabin. There is not a lot of yard space at this property but we hardly noticed with a large deck and the hotub on the walk out level. We will be staying here again and hopefully be making it an annual trip. From the cabin to Lead is about 25 minutes.

A Fabulous Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This was a fabulous cabin with all the amenities of home. It was beautifully decorated and provided everything that was needed. There were 6 adults and 3 children and the bedroom with the 3 beds and toys was just great for them. Everyone enjoyed playing pool and of course the hot tub was wonderful after a long day of sight seeing. Every morning and evening we saw deer on our way up and down the mountain from the cabin. It was really close to all the things we wanted to do and see. We all hated that we had to leave; but hope to come back and enjoy it again!

Great Easter!

What a great place to stay and get away from everything. This cabin is a great place to go to relax. Close enough to shopping and eating establishments if that is what you want to go do. Plenty of things for both kids and adults to do.

Excellent property and owners!

  • 5 of 5

It's a beautiful cabin on a forest covered hill with a beautiful view and a very peaceful quiet setting. I highly recommend this too anyone looking to feel like they are out far in the wilderness but want a short drive to Terry Peak or Deadwood.

Great Place To Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 6 that went for snowmobiling and had a wonderful time. Trail was close and accessible all but one day as Terry Peak closed it for cross county skiing. Not a problem as Rec Springs and Trails Head were close. It was great to have a hot tub to soak in at night as well as a building to store the sleds. We had a 23 foot trailer and managed just fine with parking and had room for a pickup with a two place. This was our first time staying in a cabin versus a hotel and we preferred the cabin and plan to stay again next year. Owners were great to work with and very friendly and helpful.

Snowy Bluff is a great cabin rental for large families or groups. Sleeps 12 comfortably with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. The road directly to the cabin includes 7 gravel switchbacks. Once on top of Snowy Bluffs Road, you cannot see another cabin from our cabin. The road is also a dead end so you and your guests can enjoy peace and quiet with nature. The road is maintained all year long. However, 4-wheel drive is required in the winter time. If your party is pulling a trailer, chains are recommended. We advise against bringing a low riding car such as hot rods or classic cars. Motorcycles are highly cautioned.
