About Chuck & Marilyn Anderson

Chuck & Marilyn are from opposite sides of the country. Marilyn is a New York girl, and Chuck is a California kind of guy. We lived in Orange County, CA for 38 years and moved to 'The Valley' 8 years ago. The day we moved in it was 117 degrees F. We figured that we'd get used to it and things would change - things changed - we discovered Show Low. We just loved it and decided to acquire a spot to cool off. We wanted a place for our family and friends to visit, but they have limited time, too. So, we figured that we could share with others, as well.

Chuck & Marilyn Anderson purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Chuck & Marilyn Anderson chose Arizona

We purchased the property after staying in the area and we loved it. The views are spectacular. The drive up here is just gorgeous and gets better with every mile. The seasonal change is terrific and last Winter trip we saw a herd of Elk ( there were at least 30 of them). We are isolated enough to relax and achieve peace and quiet, yet close enough to town to shop and pick up practically anything that is needed. This property is an answer to our prayers, as we have enjoyed a very active, sometimes hectic, life.

What makes this cabin unique

We chose this property for it's coziness and warmth, as well as the beauty of the area. We wanted a place to relax. This property has it all - you can relax or do outdoor activities. The cabin is cozy, we needed something that was easy to take care of. The gated, fenced back yard is sizable, and has mature pines that whisper in the wind. We are close to restaurants in town in the event that we don't want to cook some evening. We have a full time caretaker who oversees our property on a daily basis. He is available with a cell phone call.

Wonderful Experience!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I rented their cabin for 3 days, it was a wonderful experience! My kids and I had an excellent time, it was exactly what we were looking for. Hiking trails close by as well as lakes and lots to do. The owners are charming people who provided everything that could be needed! Will be booking this cabin again for my next getaway!

Beatiful cabin perfect for a family get away.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Bear Haven with our 2 young children for our anniversary. We arrived and the owners had left an anniversary card on the kitchen counter. The attention to comfort and detail was great. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook minus the food. We would definitely recommend to friends and stay there again.

When you first walked in we knew the place was just right for us. Well appointed decore and VERY clean. Chuck and Marilyn gave us a call to make sure we got in ok but also inquired to make sure that we had everything we needed in the cabin and ask if we had any questions. The kitchen is very we'll stocked, everything was easy to operate and well marked, TV operation was easy, the beds were comfortable and clean, bathrooms and living areas were very clean and did I mention the place was CLEAN! We have been using VRBO's for all of our vacations and weekend get aways for years and Chuck and Marilyn place has been the cleanest ever and that's saying a lot. Don't hasitate to book, we always read the reviews and trust us this place is really NICE.

Great cabin to use as home base

  • 5 of 5

Bear Haven had everything we needed for our short stay, but if we were to stay longer it was very well equipped.

We loved the decorating and felt very comfortable there. We Would certainly go back to Bear Haven.

Owner's Response: Michael, Thank You for your stellar report on Bear Haven Cabin. Be assured that the next time you are visiting Arizona, you are surely welcome here. I will bet that you enjoyed the dinner recommendation at Cattleman's. - it's closeby, and GOOD. As you say the cabin is fully equipped for shorter or longer stays. So come on back and enjoy. We'll keep the porch light on for ya !!

WOW!!!

  • 5 of 5

BEAR HAVEN was a perfect get away for four days. Before we even left home we received a e mail from Chuck giving detailed directions on how to get to the cabin, how to operate the TV, how to use the thermostat, and how to operate the Kuerig coffee maker. The cabin had everything we could possibly need or use. The entire cabin was unbelievably clean with expensive bedding and large fluffy towels. There was a list of local restaurants which we used. The food and service was five star. We are already making plans to go back next summer for a longer stay.

Owner's Response: Hello John & Carole, I really enjoyed reading your appraisal of Bear Haven Cabin. You discussed the stuff that we rarely talk about, but do ALL the time. We try to abbreviate the instructions - but being a past engineer makes brevity hard for me. ;-) Thanks for the praise of the Cabin. Let us know as early as possible your desired dates for your future stay; we want you to have exactly what you desire. See you soon !!

Bear Haven stay for a month

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Bear Haven for a month, from August 8th thru September 6, and enjoyed every minute of it. The cabin has a beautiful setting among the pines just a few miles west of Show Low. Everything worked properly, except a coffee pot, and Charles replaced it immediately upon my letting him know it leaked. It looked bran new, must of been a factory defect. The cabin was clean and all essential were there for a month stay, and my wife cooked a lot. The linens and towels were of very good quality.

Also the owners were nice enough to schedule a cabin cleaning while we were gone a few days in the middle of our stay.

I would highly recommend Bear Haven for a weekend or a month for a couple.

The Owners were excellent to work with and easy to communicate with prier to and during our stay.

We will highly consider Bear Haven for our stay next summer.

Owner's Response: Hello, Thank You for investing your time into a very valuable assessment of your stay at Bear Haven cabin. I am so very happy that your stay at Bear Haven lived up to and exceeded your expectations. We do, indeed, make every effort to live up to our service philosophy that "Every guest - no matter how long or short their stay will receive 5 star service and all expectations be met." We have thrown out and replaced the "new" defective coffee maker - with another brand which will be tested thoroughly before your next stay. We and our caretaker were thrilled with your stay and we are all looking forward to your return. Thanks Again, Chuck & Marilyn
