Bordering King William in the Lavaca historic district of San Antonio, recently professionally remodeled, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, early 1900s home with modern appliance upgrades. Sleeps 8 with a king bed, queen bed, and 2 full size futons as well as a possible extra sleep space for a ninth person on the large leather sectional sofa. Driveway, 2 spaces inside the back fence for longer stays, and street parking totaling space up to 7 cars or trucks if you need it. View of the Tower of Americas from the front porch. About a mile walk to the Riverwalk and Alamo Plaza and about a 10 minute walk to city-provided bicycle rental kiosk. City bus line, VIA, is a short walk away. Located in one of the closest (if not the closest) residential neighborhoods to downtown. Very easy accessibility especially on foot or bike. There is no need to cross any interstates or bad areas en route to downtown.
Adamantly, no smoking inside the house. As long as your pet isn’t destructive, we do not mind animals. If you are allergic to pets, please keep in mind that pets do stay here on occasion, but the property is cleaned thoroughly between guests. The backyard is fully fenced in (6 ft tall) and even a burrowing dog would have a hard time getting out. The cold water dispenser is inside the refrigerator and goes through a five stage reverse osmosis filtration system. Since we also stay at the house sometimes, you can be assured someone has checked on the house recently. If a repair or maintenance is necessary, we can usually be there typically within 60 minutes during any reasonable hour (6am to midnight). We live in Austin.

I am a fifth generation Texan. I grew up in north Texas and moved to the Texas Hill Country 15 years ago. San Antonio was the closest large city so I found myself spending a lot of time here. I fell in love with the city's history and diversity. I chose this home for me and my daughter to use when we came into town. We bring family and friends along to have a little weekend escape every now and then. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

The King William district is known for its historic mansions, but that is not all King William has to offer. This home is located in the Lavaca area of King William. Lavaca is the oldest existing neighborhood in San Antonio. It is defined by its small 19th century vernacular houses built primarily by working class families beginning in the early 1870s.
The first City Directory for San Antonio was published in 1877, and at that time, Lavaca Street residents included families with German, Polish and Hispanic surnames.
This remodeled historic home was built in 1910. It has an open floor plan and is great for large families and entertaining.
Lavaca is an area rich with history, and I have tried to reflect that in the decor and feel of the property.
The neighborhood is so charming. It is a very short walk to popular restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. There are small businesses of all kinds nearby. There is a perfect view of the Tower of Americas from the front porch. It makes for a spectacular spot for fireworks on Independence Day and New Year's Eve.
Our family plus a few team members stayed here for a one and a half week long conference. Great location to Alamodome, convention center, and downtown. We especially appreciate all the careful touches and thoughtful features throughout. It's clear the owner knows what she is doing! We felt so welcome and comfortable at this house. If we are ever in the SA area again, we definitely would stay here again!
Cool house, great back patio, well-stocked kitchen, everything laid out and easy to understand. The owner/manager has very quick response times! I appreciate no hassles. Highly recommended.
This property is located in an older, central part of the city with many original homes in mixed condition with occasional traffic / train noise. Location has great access with an easy 20-25 minute walk to the Alamo, downtown and the Riverwalk. The Convention Centre is only about a 15 minute walk away
The house has been fully renovated and everything mostly works well. It is homey and eclectic. The appliances all work well and the backyard is very nice to relax in. Parking in the driveway is easy.

The neighborhood was a little questionable. But we walked everywhere during the day and Ubered at night. We felt it was a great place to stay and would stay there again. We had to text the owner and she got back to us right away.
Our family of 5 had an enjoyable stay over New Years Eve. It was good to have a kitchen and we watched a couple of movies on Netflix. The two beds were comfortable and the futons were fine for one. Two bathrooms were helpful in the morning. The neighbourhood is pretty quiet but there a few places to eat out. It is a 25 minute walk to the Riverwalk or a cheap fare on über. On New Years Eve we could watch the fireworks from the front porch
King William/ Lavaca historic district is a rather gentrified, very diverse, and unexpected part of San Antonio. The Lavaca neighborhood is the oldest existing neighborhood in San Antonio. It is bounded on the north by César E. Chávez Boulevard (formerly Durango), on the south by the Missouri-Kansas Railroad Line, on the east by IH-37, and on the west by South St. Mary’s Street. The area is going through modern renovations. It is a mix of old traditional and modern with properties that have remained untouched for decades alongside fully renovated homes. If you’ve got the time to take a stroll, bring sun block and a large lightweight umbrella for shade. It's away from the madness of the river walk but still very close by. Might remind you a little bit of some areas of New Orleans. Unique mix of German and Latin heritage. There are restored Victorian mansions right next to disused properties that might be up for sale. City bus line, VIA, is just minutes away. City-provided rental bicycles are also about a 15 minute walk away.

Other attractions in the city are Fiesta Texas, Splashtown, Seaworld, Morgan's Wonderland...
I want to build many positive reviews on this vacation house. Please keep many things in mind. This area can get very hot in the summer.. When you plan on touring the area, if you are new to South Texas, walking any distance can be a challenge during summer afternoon hours. Upon reading all the reviews of houses for rent in San Antonio, I noticed one reviewer had actually left less stars for a very nice house because the city is hot at midday in the summer. Another negative home review was from area gentrification.
During the winter the city is usually only mildly chilly in the early morning & late evening, and beautiful all day long.
During the summer its opposite, usually beautiful early morning, late evening, and can get very hot midday. Please keep all of that in mind during your travels & have a great time.
