Escape to The Casita at Cima del Cerro (Top of the Hill) - a quaint Adobe guest house perched high in the Tucson Mountains against the spectacular backdrop of Wasson Peak. Conveniently located just 10 minutes from Interstate-10, this 20 acre property offers a serene space to enjoy the beauty of the Sonoran desert. With sweeping views of the Tucson, Rincon, Catalina, and Tortolita mountain ranges, you will be mesmerized as sunrises and sunsets set the skies aglow, and at nightfall, the city erupts in a blaze of twinkling lights.
With charming southwestern features, such as a kiva fireplace, vigas (wooden beams), and traditional mexican tiles, the Casita offers comfortable accommodations for up to four adult guests. Soft robes and luxurious linens are supplied in both the king and queen bedrooms. Besides a microwave, undercounter fridge, and induction hot plate, the kitchenette is equipped with a toaster, kettle, and a Nespresso machine for those requiring their morning jolt. Large sliding doors open the kitchen to your private patio, complete with bistro set and propane barbecue.
Guests are welcome to relax on the main house patios, and have use of the pool (in season).
In delightfully sunny Tucson, the temperate weather from October to May is perfect for outdoor activities. Tucson has many municipal golf courses, extensive bike paths, and at Cima del Cerro, we are less than one mile to a hiking trailhead for Saguaro National Park (West).
Your hosts, Connie and Andre, live in the main house on the property. Although being raised in Connecticut, Andre has lived in the southwestern United States for most of the past 45 years. While working in Canada in 2006, Andre fell head over heels for a Canadian gal, Connie, and they were married in Toronto in 2008.
As they continued working in the mining and exploration industry, they had visions of retirement. Connie's dream was to set sail for places unknown, so they bought a 45' sailing catamaran, and the boating tales began. Andre, with no sailing experience, was a natural - his years piloting his own plane made him a calm, quick study. A few years later, they switched venues and bought a comfy 65' motor yacht. Friends and family joined them on their adventures from North Carolina to Key West, Florida and the Bahamas. All good things must come to an end, and as they closed in on retirement, the boat was sold, and Connie and Andre went in search of their next dream...on land.
With business skills, and a combined love of cooking and entertaining, they decided on owning and operating a small Bed & Breakfast or Guest House. Tucson fit their location requirements of sun, little to no snow, an international airport, and amazing scenery. It wasn't long before they found Cima del Cerro.
Connie and Andre can't wait to share their slice of heaven with you, as you explore the Tucson area from their charming adobe casita.
Andre Douchane & Connie Anderson purchased this cottage in 2014
If you want to experience the warmth and charm of a southwestern Adobe casita, in a peaceful rural setting, yet close to all that Tucson has to offer, look no further.
As you make your way up the driveway at Cima del Cerro, you know you are arriving at a very special place in the Sonoran desert. Towering saguaros and spiky ocotillos mingle with palo verde trees, cholla and prickly pear cacti. The main house and casita blend so well with the natural landscape, and exude a warmth and charm that will make you feel immediately welcome. You may awake to see the deer nibbling on the Palo Verde blossoms, or the javelina crossing the hill to the arroyo. The sweet hummingbirds, and the proud roadrunners will have you grabbing for your camera. But if you love incredible vistas, stargazing, and fresh air, we think you'll love Cima del Cerro.
My wife and I found the property to be exactly as presented on VRBO. Extremely clean and comfortable with easy access to all the major highways. The views from the patio over looking Tucson at night, the sunrises in the morning and sunsets in the evening were all wonderful.
You will find Andre and Connie to delightful hosts and very accommodating.
I would strongly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Tucson area.

My husband and I go to the Tucson rock and mineral show every year, and I stumbled across this property on VRBO. The location was perfect, not too far from the Convention center. the hosts were top notch, very accommodating and wonderful. The casita.. Well, incredible! The views are spectacular, and the home immaculate and so tastefully decorated! Clean and comfy beds... We felt like we were staying at a 5 star resort! We cannot wait to go back! I'd highly recommend this casita:)
There was nothing that could have been added to make our stay more comfortable. The Casita has lovely appointments and was spotless. The hosts were wonderful. The location was great for hiking because just down the road is a trail head that goes into the Saguaro National Forest. If you want something that has great views and serenity, this is it.
property as described. owners were wonderful and we had a great time in Tucson. Highly recommended.
Our stay at the casita was absolutely wonderful. It was our first visit to the Southwest, and we wanted a true desert experience; this location surpassed our expectations in every way. I honestly don't know why anyone would stay in a hotel when this is an option! Flowering saguaros out every window, nearby mountaintop hiking, and watching the moon rise over the lights of Tucson; these are memories we will treasure. I wish we could have stayed longer. Inside, the casita is so tastefully decorated, and the quiet coolness of the adobe walls was restful and welcome when we returned hot and tired from desert adventures.
It was a short (beautiful) drive over Gates Pass to Saguaro National Park and the Desert Museum, which we loved. Thank you for your kind hospitality, Connie, and I hope we will be back someday!
We loved the casita! It was so beautifully appointed with wonderful artwork, plush robes, comfy beds, great coffee and stunning views. Connie and Andre are great hosts as well. The property is set on 20 acres with trailheads close by. You wake in the morning to the sound of birds, the occasional deer and humming birds feeding on flowers. At night the lights of Tucson spread out below you. The setting is private and rural but close to restaurants and shops in Tucson. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I can't say enough nice things about our stay!
Besides hiking trails moments from our doorstep, there are a variety of indoor and outdoor activities within a 20 to 30 minute drive. Horseback riding, balloon rides, and great cycling paths for the outdoor enthusiast; while museums, theatres, galleries, antiquing, and the casino will appeal to others. In February, the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show brings visitors from all over the world to the Tucson Convention Center - a quick 20 minute drive from the Casita.
There are so many interesting places to see in the Southwest! Here are just a few day trip ideas:
1. Kartchner Caverns State Park - approximately 55 miles southeast of Tucson, near Benson;
2. Tombstone - take a trip back in time to this legendary Old West town, 70 miles southeast of Tucson;
3. Tubac - lots of eclectic shops and galleries to explore in this artsy village.
