Beautiful clean and spacious apartment with private outdoor porch, 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths, laundry, cable TV, VHS/DVD player, WIFI, central air conditioning, and off street parking in a secure garage. Our place is fully equipped for your stay & within walking distance to the coolest neighborhoods in Buffalo!
The space available is a two-story apartment that is approximately 1200 square feet in size. Beds provided are one queen bed, one double, and a trundle bed that pulls out into two twins. There is also a full size futon that can sleep two. The apartment has a beautiful 2nd floor private porch which is amazing during the summer months. Laundry is located in the basement. Towels and all bedding provided. Kitchen has microwave, gas stove, large fridge with ice maker, toaster, coffee maker, and dishwasher. There are essentials in the kitchen such as coffee/tea, sugar/honey, condiments, jams, butter, and almond/cow's milk - if you require other foods, there are four grocery stores within a 2-3 mile radius of the apartment.
Guests enter the apartment through an entrance that is shared with the downstairs apartment, which is also a short-term rental. Guests have access to the entire apartment, front porch, basement laundry, and backyard area with fire pit, hammocks and grill. There is also one garage space available for guests, and additional parking is usually not a problem on our residential street. The apartment is a second floor walk-up, no elevator available.
We live next door and are always around to talk to guests about our city and give recommendations for places to go, restaurants, etc. We own 6 houses all in a row, and our tenants in the other houses are very friendly. You will find the "17th Street Commune" - as we call it - to be very fun and inviting!
I'm a lawyer and property investor in the City of Buffalo. Although I'm originally from Georgia, I've called Buffalo home for 25 years. I own multiple homes on one street in the city and my partner Carl and I have worked since 2010 to make them beautiful. Our goal was to provide wonderful places for people to live and to create a community in our little part of the world. We want to share it, and our awesome city, with people who want to come visit us.
I love to travel myself, although I stay a little too busy to do it a lot. By having visitors from around the world, I can experience one of the best parts of traveling - meeting cool people - without leaving home!
Becky Powell purchased this apartment in 2010
The apartment is well-situated to all the major attractions of the Buffalo-Niagara region, including sports stadiums, downtown Buffalo, Niagara Falls, the Lake Erie waterfront, various museums, and great shopping and dining.
We booked this apartment for 3 weeks and it became home to us. The location was ideal for our needs. We could walk to great restaurants and shops as well as easily get on the Thruway for visits to our family south of the city and to Niagara on the Lake in Canada for a few plays at the Shaw Festival. The house is old, retains it's charm, and the remodel was first rate and professional. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern and spotless. Although in a dense urban neighborhood it was very quiet at night. Garage parking, central A/C, WiFi and laundry facilities in the basement really added to the value of this rental for us. This is a large apartment that would very comfortably sleep 8, it has loads of closet space and the 1/2 bath is a real bonus. The owners were very responsive, helpful and extremely nice.
The only improvement I can suggest is an update of the living room sectional, it is a bit worn from the use it gets.
Buffalo is undergoing an amazing transformation and revitalization, staying here gives you an opportunity to experience it at street level.
More than enough room in this apartment. Enjoyed the balcony patio in the evening and the location was great for day trips as well as just hanging around.
Everything was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient for us to do a little sightseeing. If we return to Buffalo, we will definitely stay again.
Thank you Becky and Kelly, you were both so great to communicate with, and our stay with you was perfect. The stay lacked nothing. We will be staying with you again in the future. Thanks again, Sandi
The price is right and the location was decent - about 1/2 hour from the falls. Very clean, bathrooms are nice and Becky was very accommodating.
Overall the stay was nice and we will definately keep this one on the list to revisit when in the area). The apartment is spacious, very clean and comfy.
Short drive to Niagara Falls and attractions
Quiet neighborhood with parking
Clean and spacious with plenty of sleeping areas
Free Washer and dryer onsite
Owner is not readily available when needed ( although she did get back to us within the hour)
Converted attic space is hot, even with provided window AC
Only one shower/tub (extremely time consuming with 6 people)
Thank you for allowing g us to stay!!!
Our house is near an area called the Elmwood Strip, you can walk there from the apartment in about 5 minutes and then walk for about a mile up Elmwood Avenue where there are various restaurants, shops, bars, etc. At the end of the Strip there are three wonderful museums, the Burchfield Penney Art Center (features WNY art), the Historical Museum (featuring all kinds of Buffalo history), and the Albright Knox Art Gallery (has a world-class modern art collection).
