About Janna

Janna and her husband have been working on this ranch for over forty years and it has been in the family since 1879.

Why Janna chose Willcox

The property has been in the family for several generations. The studio apartment was built originally as a salt house, but it was later decided to be used as a guest house or 'Little House' as we call it. We want to continue that tradition and give travelers an inside look into the lifestyle.

What makes this studio unique

The views from the porch are breathtaking. The abundant wildlife and birds give you a unique opportunity to enjoy nature. The dark nights provide an excellent opportunity to view the night skies. The hiking and biking possibilities are endless.

Clean and cozy cottage with beautiful scenery

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our short holiday stay at Crossed J Ranch. The property was absolutely beautiful. The cottage was equipped with everything you need and the beds were super comfy.

Jim and Janna were great hosts. Janna even took the time to show us the cows and chickens. All of the animals had such cute personalities!

I would definitely recommend staying at Crossed J Ranch to other VRBO guests. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks again for a lovely stay!

Exceeded out expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely studio with well equipped kitchen and large bath (great shower!). It was larger than we expected with plenty of room, including a table for 4, sofa and comfortable lounge chair. Beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows.

The location was perfect for exploring the area. The Chiricahua National Monument is just up the road. Fort Bowie is about 20 minutes away.

The Riggs Family was very welcoming and provided information and history about the area. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening, walking around the ranch looking at the cattle and chickens, and watching the kids play hide and seek.

We will definitely return for our next visit to the area. It doesn't get better than this!

A breathtakingly beautiful property perfectly managed by warm, competent owners.

The property is breathtakingly beautiful, and managed to a perfection by a rather extraordinary woman! We would return in a heartbeat, and plan to do so.

On the other hand, we found working with VRBO/HOMEAWAY to be difficult, unpleasant, and would avoid that organization at all costs.

Just what we were looking for - a quiet, remote, clean and comfy place.

  • 5 of 5

The owners are the best! Everything you need is there for your use! The atmosphere is a homey, quite ranch life. No wifi to worry about, an escape fom facbook and email. The isolation was perfect even though town (Willcox) is only 30 minutes away. The kitchen is equipped with all you need to prepare beautiful meals. The front porch is great for reading and relaxing. The surrounding area has plenty to do if you like the Arizona countryside. Hiking, touring the Chirichua mountains and nearby historical Fort Bowie.

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

The Riggs are good people who have a great little cottage in a beautiful location. It was clean and comfortable, and they even provided drinking water, and eggs from their chickens. I would highly recommend a stay for anyone who enjoys the beauty of nature. They were generous and answered all of my questions. I especially enjoyed hearing about how their family history is connected with the local history. I loved sunrise, watching the chickens run around, exploring miles of dirt roads, hiking trails, birding, sunset, and the starry nights. Do not miss the hike and visit to Fort Bowie... very interesting. Chiricahua National Monument is right down the road!
