The house is a special place. It has been a welcoming home for families since it was built in 1830. It is my family homestead where my children grew up. I live a few minutes away and my family stays in the house when they are in the area. When we are not at home, we love to share our place with you.
We live in a rural setting with no other homes in sight, but right around the corner from NH 101, Shaws and CVS, as well as all the wonders of the Monadnock region. Our guests especially enjoy our large open concept kitchen and dining area that opens to the two porches.
Bed linens, blankets and towels are included. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silverware and glassware, as well as pots and pans. An outdoor grill is available for use during the warmer months.
Rates are for the use of six bedrooms and the two bathrooms, and are for up to six people staying, with up to eight for an additional fee. Included in rates is turnover cleaning. The details: A first floor 180 square ft. sunny south west corner bedroom with a tiny interior bath furnished with a queen size bed; Another first floor bedroom behind the kitchen is furnished with a double bed; A second floor cozy 110 square ft. south west corner bedroom has a twin folding cot; A south east corner bedroom 180 square ft. is furnished with a queen folding futon bed; An alcove bedroom 100 square ft. has a twin folding cot; At the back of the second floor is the den bedroom of 220 square ft. furnished with a double bed, includes a connected 200 square ft. dressing room.
We ask that you cover our mattress and pillow covers with the clean sheets provided. If you need beds made, please let me know a few days prior to arrival.
No worries about stripping the beds, or cleaning linens and towels. We will take care of that after you leave.
We ask that you wash, dry and put away your dishes prior to departure.
Recycling is mandatory in Dublin, and we ask that you follow the recycling guidelines for our town. By sorting the items into the provided labeled bins, and removing caps and rinsing plastic and glass.
The house is great for families. At your request, I will set up the safety gates for the stairs. Please know that our home is large, and there is a lot of open land outside. Children must be supervised at all times both in and outside our home.
Please take note that there are two small bathrooms in the house, each with a single sink. The first floor bathroom is tiny, and is accessed only through the first floor bedroom. The bedroom behind the kitchen is a distance from either bathroom.
The stairs from first to second floor have a short rise and run. To circumnavigate the stairs, there is a ground level access to the second floor at the back of the house. It is accessed from outdoors. At your request, I will install a child safety gate at the top of the stairs.
We have a private septic system and well. The fresh water from our well is safe to drink. Some people prefer to drink our water, however you are welcome to bring your own bottled water and ice. Our fresh well water is treated with a whole house Culligan water softener system.
There are systems in our basement that may be heard inside the home. Our water pump for the well is in the basement, which will be heard cycling on and off with use of water.
Our heat and hot water is off an oil fueled Buderus boiler with two thermostatically controlled zones.
There are two thermostatically controlled propane space heaters (upstairs dressing room and first floor bedroom) as well as a propane fueled Jennair range in the kitchen. If unfamiliar with rural propane appliances, please communicate with me prior to staying. It is different than city gas, however the same precautions are used. If you smell gas, exit the home and call from outdoors. We have no gas alarm, the best indicator is your nose.
Our large dehumidifier with fan, and several sump pumps will be heard more frequently during humid and/or rainy weather.
Basically, if anything sounds too loud, seems unusual, or smells wrong, give me a call and I will check it out.
We have high speed DSL internet service with WiFi as this is a rural location. We have a landline phone with unlimited local calling. Our satellite is off for the time being.
We are close to MacDowell and Dublin lakes for swimming, boating, walks, and near many hiking trails. Horseback riding is available at a nearby stable. Close to Peterborough, where there is access to Common pathway for bicycling. Many recreational resources are available through the Peterborough Recreation Department. Shaws and CVS are a short drive away. A gas station and convenience store is one mile away.
There are so many things to describe about the surrounding Monadnock region. Beautiful foliage in the fall with Dublin Art Tour and Peak into Peterborough. Skiing and boarding in winter at many nearby ski areas. Year round monthly Contra Dances, monthly farmers market in Peterborough, Harrisville, Nelson, Hancock and Jaffrey. Heavenly swimming, sailing, camping, as well as Garden Tours and Music Festivals in summer. Downhill, cross country skiing and snow shoeing at several nearby ski areas in winter. Year round dining and shopping in Peterborough, Keene, and all other area Towns.
The Monadnock Region has been my home for 30 years. I grew up in Connecticut, but spent summers up here. I attended Parsons School of Design in New York City. There, I learned space planning and design. I have traveled extensively since childhood, staying in varied accommodations throughout the world. From pensions and bed and breakfasts in Europe and the US, from fine city hotels to regional inns, as well as trains and ocean liners. I enjoy using my knowledge of design in combination with a variety of travel experiences to provide a comfortable and livable space for guests.

We had lived in Dublin for 20 years, and had looked for a property for a decade before buying this one. The location and size of the house was perfect for our family. Near to town and all amenities, but rural and private. There is also the ability to live only on the first floor which makes this house adaptable for retirement and/or downsizing. This has been a welcoming home for families since it was built in 1830.
It was the light and the sunsets that we love most about the house, as well as the first floor open concept with a den as well as a living room. The pantry is like a second kitchen with a sink, washer dryer and many cabinets. Storage capacity in this house is abundant. There is great flexibility in the plan. We are currently using the second living room as a bedroom to provide first floor living. There are several rooms on the second floor that are furnished as bedrooms as well. Even with all this space there remains a comfortable warmth to the house that we enjoy.
We stayed the weekend for a wedding in Jaffery. The house had plenty of rooms and space for 5 of us. The house was clean everywhere. The kitchen had some staple items (sugar,coffee,tea,water,oj,bread). It was located on a quiet road and the scenery around during the fall was absolutely beautiful. The house had wifi too! We were provided with clean sheets and towels. Like the title, it's a great house for the price! If we're ever up in New Hampshire, we would definitely stay here again! A large clean house, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and beautiful grounds. Everything we needed for a memorable weekend. The bathrooms are small but this was not a problem for us. The owner was great to work with and refunded my deposit promptly. I would definately stay here again. Thank you, Louise.
We found the property to be exactly as described by the homeowner. It was immaculate and appeared to have been freshly painted (walls and ceilings). The kitchen was wonderful and welcoming. Louise was helpful with any questions that we had prior to our stay. As we were warned, our GPS did not bring us correctly to the property....use Louise's directions! We would definitely stay at the farmhouse again if we had a need to be in the area.
We had a nice short stay at the farmhouse. It was impeccably clean. The kitchen was very nice. The house was very old and as such had uneven floors and walls (only important if you have a new little walker or elderly in your party). The bathrooms were VERY small, but adequate and again, very clean. Many thoughtful touches throughout. The beds were quite comfortable.
We drove into Boston for the day to see the historic sites. We went on a Sunday so the traffic wasn't too bad. It was however still a bit of a drive but one that is possible.
My only complaints about the house were 1) The entry area near the kitchen (presumably a mud room) smelled off (kind of like old garbage). The area was not dirty, so I don't know if a previous guest had sent a bag of garbage that had leaked, or maybe just that it is an old house? 2) The master bedroom had a smell of urine...quite possibly an animal had gone outside, but the smell was rather strong. I looked for any evidence of animals inside but found none. An air freshener we had brought covered the smell. This may not be a problem during your stay. 3) The bedrooms were poorly lit. 4) I didn't like having to make up the beds before using them. This is a personal preference on my part. We had driven over 12 hrs. with 5 children when we arrived. Wrestling with duvet covers and sheets was not what I wanted to be doing. However, it was nice to know that the bedding was clean.
The owner was easy to work with and promptly refunded our deposit. Overall, very pleased. We appreciated the quirks that come with an older home, and thought that the updates were nice.
Last note...if you have very small children (under 5) please note that the steps leading upstairs are steeper than typical and going down them would be difficult for a child in the middle of the night. (I was concerned about our youngest possibly falling if he was looking for a restroom in the middle of the night).

We enjoyed are stay at the farm house. The area is beautiful and quite. The home is very clean and the kitchen is very modern with all the amenities you need to fix a meal. The living room and bedrooms are comfortable. The only problem, which was not a major problem, was the downstairs bathroom was very small. There is a bathroom upstairs that is bigger, but I can not climb stairs. I would recommend the house to anyone who is looking for a nice quite beautiful spot to stay.
The house is located in Dublin New Hampshire, on a quiet road however close to recreation, dining, shopping and several towns. The location provides the best of both worlds, privacy and rural peace, with all amenities with a 10 minute drive. Right around the corner is Nature's Green Grocer for local produce, and dining by the river. Del Rossi's restaurant is 5 minutes away in Dublin. MacDowell Lake, as well as Dublin Lake for walks, fishing, boating and swimming. The Contoocook river is close by, in Peterborough for canoeing and kayaking. There are abundant hiking trails throughout the area, including the Wapack, Pack Monadnock, Mt. Monadnock, Temple Mountain. In winter downhill skiing may be found at several nearby ski areas, Crotched Mountain, Pat's Peak, Mt. Sunapee, as well as numerous ski areas throughout New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. Enjoy blueberry pancakes with maple syrup throughout the year. For cross country skiing and snowshoeing visit Windblown ski area, a 15 minute drive. Each season there are many activities to enjoy in New Hampshire, as well as in Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine, all close to this location for a home base. Peterborough and Keene New Hampshire are 10 minutes and 25 minutes away respectively, and Brattleboro Vermont is a 50 minute drive. Staying with us is a great way to explore this beautiful region of New England.
