About Ingvar Thor Gylfason

Erlingur & Ingvar started their business in 20th of September 2013 when they bought their first land in Grimsnes, south of Iceland. They used up their savings for the down payment and got a loan to pay the rest. They started planting treas and digging for streams. On 17th of June 2014 they received their first shipment of material for building a cabin. They worked very hard, along side their jobs as engineers in Reykjavik, for 9 months building this cabin.

On 10th of March 2015 the first guests arrived to the cabin. Two couples from India. Since then the cabin has more or less been rented out. We are grateful to be a part of people's vacation and to participate in people experiencing comfort and memories.

Since then they have bought another land, two apartments in Reykjavik and are heading strong into 2017 to add more properties.

Erlingur & Ingvar want their customers to experience the most comfort in their properties. That memories are created that will last a life time. Renting out a property is not just about selling a bed each night, it is about selling people the best vacation experience they have ever lived.

Fabulous Cabin in Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Versalir cabin for 4 nights in the middle of our week long trip to Iceland. Booking was easy and the driving directions were excellent.

The cabin is stunning, with all the amenities you could wish for. The beds are comfy, the kitchen is fully equipped, there is a washer drier and a dishwasher and the hot tub was fabulous. There are so many little extra touches like DVD's to watch, a PlayStation with games for the kids and coffee/tea sugar in case you forgot. Erlingur was really friendly and helpful.

Selfoss is only a few miles away for supermarkets and restaurants. We tried Yellow and really enjoyed the food there.

The only thing missing is black out blinds. It was impossible to see the projector screen in July as it was too light. Not a big problem though.

I would definitely recommend Versalir for a relaxing break.

Great place to stay in Iceland

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four, including kids ages 11 and 9, just spent 5 days at Versalir. It was a cozy place to return after a day of wind and rain, since we were largely unfortunate with the weather. There are grocery stores and restaurants sufficiently close to the cabin, but enough space around the cabin that it feels more remote than it is. We loved the location as we were close to many spots on the Golden Circle but far from any crowds. We drove 5 hours each way to the eastern Glacier Lagoon and it was the highlight of our week, since although it was a long day, there were many gorgeous spots along the way to stop for short hikes. The kids loved the hot tub, and we also did an afternoon at the thermal swimming pool in Selfoss, which was mostly locals so nice to do something off the tourist track. We hope to return to Versalir one day.

Cosy cabin with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was even better than expected. It was very spacious and warm, which we needed with the weather being so cool; we only lit the fire on one night and that was mainly for the aesthetic. It's in a very quiet area with the only noise from birdsong. We received an information pack before we arrived which included everything you could need - including the location of the elusive cutlery drawer! The cabin is situated on the route of the golden circle and the far ranging views were amazing. The nearest town is Selfoss which is about 10 mins by car and has takeaways and supermarkets.

The location was such that you were in easy reach of quite a few of the sites with amazing scenery on the way. We visited the waterfalls, Reykjavik and went horse riding at Nuphestar.

If we return to Iceland I would definitely come back to the cabin.

Perfect Location for a Stay in the Golden Circle

  • 4 of 5

There are plenty of nice things to say about this cabin. It's clean and well kept. It stayed warm and cozy even when the wind was howling outside. The hot tub is ideal and easy to use. There are other cabins near by, but there is a real feeling of being out there in Iceland and the landscape's rugged beauty is mesmerizing. Many guests have reported seeing the northern lights. We were there the wrong time of year for that, but I can imagine this is a great spot for that. But the best thing to say about the cabin is the location. There is easy access to all the Golden Circle destinations. Selfoss is not far, so it's easy to run into town for provisions. And if you plan a trip down the south shore, this is a good starting point. The cabin is perfect for a quick stop to see the local sights, or a long stay to get away from it all.

Serenity in the Mountains- A Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

How do we began to express how maginificant a stay we had here.

Everything was exactly as pictured. The home was well cared for and clean. But the true gem was its location. The serenity of the mountains added a special magical feel to our vacation. At night with the snow in the hot tub or enjoying coffee with the sunrise.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Erlingur, he was always quick to respond to emails. He even provided a local guide of food store, gas station, restaurant, etc.

The beds were very comfortable and the linens were clean. There was plenty of drawer storage.

It was a group of 5, and the couch made a perfect bed. It was very comfortable.

The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. It allowed us to make lunch and dinner. We also used the grill. Which we had no issue with.

Selfoss was 15 minutes drive which allowed us to go food shopping. We do recommend Bonus Food store as it was more affordable.

For our group, the homes location could not have been better. Everything in Iceland is a drive but this home's central location in the Golden Circle made black sand beach/Vik a three hour drive, an hour to Seljalandsfoss, an hour to Gullfoss/Geysir and 30 minutes to Fontana.
