Relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect place to host a girls relaxing getaway weekend! The house was very beautifully decorated and kept very clean. The appliances were all new and is indeed fully stocked. The binders of how things work and where/what to do were very helpful. We checked out Kennedy Peak and Storybrook trail, which had awesome views. The dirt road to get to the house is doable, although If you have a vehicle with low under carriage might want to be more vigilant. Our biggest regret is that we weren't staying longer!

Owner's Response: We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and found the cottage offered everything you needed. These two nearby hikes offer beautiful views of the valley. Glad you found those directions and took advantage of the opportunity to get out for an adventure in nature. The road is a regularly maintained gravel road. We take great pride in keeping it as smooth as possible. It gets plowed in the winter as well. When you are use to paved roads I'm sure some bumps can be of a concern but you just have to slow down here in the country. I drive a camary and have no problems even in winter. We hope you'll visit again in the future. Thank You for choosing our cottage to relax and connect with the girls.

A wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

I had the most wonderful time at the Mountainview Meadow Cottage. I've never stayed at a rental house that was so well stocked and such care was given to the details. We were celebrating a birthday and the kitchen even had an electric mixer when we wanted to make the birthday cake frosting. The bathrobes were by far my favorite touch and we're key to great hot tubbing. The house is located in the most perfect location with so many outdoor activities possible. I hiked Gap Creek Trail and Kennedy Peak. A truly wonderful getaway.

Truly impressive and comfortable cottage.

  • 5 of 5

When we first stepped into the cottage, we were truly amazed. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. There are many new, well chosen appliances and very comfortable beds (vital for sleep after hiking in Shenandoah National Park). My friends and I have stayed in many VRBO houses over the years and this was truly the best home away from home yet.

Words cannot describe how beautiful this cottage is!! From the moment we pulled into the driveway the landscaping and the front porch were so quaint and lovely. We entered the home and the pictures on the website don't even do it justice. The decor was impeccable. Beautiful pictures, cozy furniture, the list goes on. The kitchen was just perfect. We love to cook and this kitchen had everything we needed. The screened in porch was just perfect to enjoy morning coffee. The beautiful bird feeders were filled every morning with all different types of birds, not to mention the squirrels were amusing to watch as well. The back yard had a beautiful pergola which housed a nice seating area. We enjoyed the fire pit nightly as well as the hot tub. We also enjoyed an 8 mile kayak trip down the beautiful Shenandoah River. Overall this place was just amazing. Our first trip to Luray was for our second wedding anniversary and we decided to return for our fifth and we couldn't have been more happy for such a lovely trip. We highly recommend this cottage. We will definitely be returning in the future!! Thanks again Brooke & Nathan!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a lovely review. We are so happy you enjoyed your fifth anniversary together at the cottage. Sounds like you shared some great adventures and time together! Such great views from all around, any time of day and you seem to have taken it all in. The squirrels are silly and eat a lot. Hope next time you visit the pergola will be covered in wisteria. We continue to grow and have some things planned for the future. We do hope you will visit again and continue to make some memories with each other in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

Starry Nights

  • 5 of 5

It was nice to leave Northern Virginia and all the traffic and noise for Labor Day weekend. It was a beautiful short drive to paradise! Mountain Meadow Cottage was a great getaway! We spent 3 glorious days at the cottage.

The cottage was beautifully decorated with comfort in mind. There were so many wonderful spots to sit and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Watching the birds off the screened porch was our morning spot with coffee. The hot tub was super clean and the temperature was just right for relaxing and taking in the view. We enjoyed grilling every night and in the evening we had a glowing fire in the fire pit. The crisp night air and the starry nights were a great way to end the day. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The appliances are top notch. The TV and sound system made movie watching and listening to music very enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable for us. This cottage has everything you need. Next time we come we are looking forward to using the inside fireplace.

If you want a side trip….Luray is not far at all. Some fun places to go are the Warehouse Art Gallery, the old train Station and the Trading Post.

As another review mentioned there is a short bit of a drive on a dirt road. We have a Prius station wagon (front wheel drive not 4 wheel) and it made it without any problem.

Brooke and Nathan, Thank you for providing a wonderful getaway cottage. We will return.

I highly recommend this home! You will not be disappointed.
