Truly impressive and comfortable cottage.

When we first stepped into the cottage, we were truly amazed. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. There are many new, well chosen appliances and very comfortable beds (vital for sleep after hiking in Shenandoah National Park). My friends and I have stayed in many VRBO houses over the years and this was truly the best home away from home yet.

Words cannot describe how beautiful this cottage is!! From the moment we pulled into the driveway the landscaping and the front porch were so quaint and lovely. We entered the home and the pictures on the website don't even do it justice. The decor was impeccable. Beautiful pictures, cozy furniture, the list goes on. The kitchen was just perfect. We love to cook and this kitchen had everything we needed. The screened in porch was just perfect to enjoy morning coffee. The beautiful bird feeders were filled every morning with all different types of birds, not to mention the squirrels were amusing to watch as well. The back yard had a beautiful pergola which housed a nice seating area. We enjoyed the fire pit nightly as well as the hot tub. We also enjoyed an 8 mile kayak trip down the beautiful Shenandoah River. Overall this place was just amazing. Our first trip to Luray was for our second wedding anniversary and we decided to return for our fifth and we couldn't have been more happy for such a lovely trip. We highly recommend this cottage. We will definitely be returning in the future!! Thanks again Brooke & Nathan!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a lovely review. We are so happy you enjoyed your fifth anniversary together at the cottage. Sounds like you shared some great adventures and time together! Such great views from all around, any time of day and you seem to have taken it all in. The squirrels are silly and eat a lot. Hope next time you visit the pergola will be covered in wisteria. We continue to grow and have some things planned for the future. We do hope you will visit again and continue to make some memories with each other in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

Starry Nights

  • 5 of 5

It was nice to leave Northern Virginia and all the traffic and noise for Labor Day weekend. It was a beautiful short drive to paradise! Mountain Meadow Cottage was a great getaway! We spent 3 glorious days at the cottage.

The cottage was beautifully decorated with comfort in mind. There were so many wonderful spots to sit and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Watching the birds off the screened porch was our morning spot with coffee. The hot tub was super clean and the temperature was just right for relaxing and taking in the view. We enjoyed grilling every night and in the evening we had a glowing fire in the fire pit. The crisp night air and the starry nights were a great way to end the day. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The appliances are top notch. The TV and sound system made movie watching and listening to music very enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable for us. This cottage has everything you need. Next time we come we are looking forward to using the inside fireplace.

If you want a side trip….Luray is not far at all. Some fun places to go are the Warehouse Art Gallery, the old train Station and the Trading Post.

As another review mentioned there is a short bit of a drive on a dirt road. We have a Prius station wagon (front wheel drive not 4 wheel) and it made it without any problem.

Brooke and Nathan, Thank you for providing a wonderful getaway cottage. We will return.

I highly recommend this home! You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful cottage getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I chose Mountain Meadow Cottage as the place to stay while we spent an anniversary getaway exploring Shenandoah. We could not have been happier with our choice: Brooke and Nathan have a beautifully updated and meticulously maintained home away from home to offer their guests. The cottage was tastefully decorated with photographs & artwork that highlight the beauty of the area. The flower gardens outside were just gorgeous and allowed us to view a variety of butterflies!

Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. I was impressed by how well-stocked the home was with everything from spices to laundry detergent pods to a variety of coffee and teas.

We enjoyed watching the variety of birds who visited the many feeders on the property, chatting on the patio while cooking on the nice grill, and we welcomed relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. We also appreciated the nice flatscreen TV with Dish, even though we spent most of our time enjoying the many wonderful outdoor spaces on the property.

Brooke was extremely prompt, kind, and courteous in all of her correspondence. Truly, this was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had with a rental property, and my husband and I would gladly return for another stay.

A Diamond in Shannadoh River Valley

  • 5 of 5

So many great things to say, I don't know where to start. First, Brooke made the booking, correspondence and communications super easy and effective! If I needed anything, she was a phone call away! The cottage was exactly what you see in the photos - clean, beautiful, stocked up with all items you have in your home, nice sized spaces and great rooms for our get-away weekend with friends. The beds were comfortable and clean too. You know that the owners takes pride in the property as well as ensures you have every comfort of your home available to you during your stay (we were amazed by all of the thought that went into everything to make our stay so easy). The location is exactly where to be - right next to the Outfitters which we enjoyed tubing down the river; right down the street from the down-town area where we enjoyed Lurray Caverns, the shopping and a nice dinner out - oh, I can't forget golfing. Also, the backyard was great for the nights and days spending outside - we enjoyed the screened in porch and the variety of birds that came to visit, not to mention the gorgeous view, the grills, the picnic table and the fire pit. This is a must stay!!! My only regret was not staying longer! Thank you, Brooke! - Amanda H

Wonderful Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay at the cottage! Everything about this place is wonderful, so much attention to detail! We came here for our 13 year anniversary, looking for a quiet retreat from busy life and it's exactly what we found! The accommodations were so inviting, relaxing, and comfortable we decided not to do any activities, rather stayed in and read, cook, sit on the porch, made S'mores over the fire-pit, relaxed in the hot tub, slept in and enjoyed the birds and the stars at night! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you can think of to cook with! It was great! We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again!
