Photos and Description of this St Anthony holiday apartment

2 Bed 1 Bath on 47 Acres With Dirt Race Track, Swimming Hole, And Big Parking

The Crain guest house is perfect for the rural Idaho experience and a quiet, comfortable place to chill. We are located in the country 2.5 miles east of Hwy 20 and 10 minutes North of Rexburg. The guest house has views of the Tetons, swimming pond, farm land, cows, hawks, and bald eagles. The property has plenty of space for parking trailers and there is plenty of room for your horses in our pasture. You can ride your snowmobiles and ATVs in the field.

The guest house is the perfect home base for all of your southeast Idaho adventures. We are located 3 miles from Monkey Rock waterfall; 5 miles from awesome fishing and bridge jumping; 10 miles from Rexburg; 40 minutes from Island Park; 45 minutes from Idaho Falls; 70 minutes from West Yellowstone; and 75 minutes from Jackson Hole. The world famous St. Anthony Sand Dunes are only 10 minutes away!

Do not forget your water toys and swimsuit in the summer - we have a big swimming hole with an island, rope swing, paddle boat, and sandy beach to relax on. The Ashton Reservoir is only 15 minutes away and is a quiet, beautiful waterway for boating, floating, or fishing. In the winter, our swimming hole is empty and great for snow sledding. For bigger sledding thrills, the St. Anthony Sand Dunes are only a few minutes away.

After your long day, relax on the couch or recliner and read a book or watch a movie. The kitchen is stocked so you can enjoy cooking meals at home. Or, you may eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant, El Jaliciense, in St. Anthony. Rexburg is a short drive away for dinner and a movie. Retire to bed in the quiet countryside and drift to sleep on memory foam while snuggled in a fluffy comforter.

If you need any ideas of where to play or relax, feel free to contact us. We are in the house nearby if you should need anything during your stay.

P.S. We strive to make the guest house a low allergen environment. No smoking or indoor pets are allowed; no air fresheners or candles. All linens are 100% cotton and washed in scent-free detergent; all-natural cleaning products are used to clean the house.

About Marvin or Misty Crain

Hi,

We are the Crain family. There is five of us and we enjoy the outdoors, riding big-toys with motors, reading books, fishing, swimming, cooking, and hanging out with family and friends. Marvin grew up in St. Anthony, ID and Misty is an implant from Southern California. For the past 18 years, friends and family have come stay with us to enjoy rural Idaho and it's many activities and adventures. Several times throughout the year we have family and friends that come from afar to visit us and enjoy Idaho. We decided to complete our shop and apartment project so we can offer the Crain Guest House to family, friends, and new acquaintances so they can have a quiet and private place to enjoy rural Idaho. We decided to make this rental a small family business to help our children get ready for their future independence (and develop a better work ethic). We are happy to share our guest house with you.

Marvin or Misty Crain purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Marvin or Misty Crain chose Idaho

We decided to build a home in the Wilford, Idaho area because it is a quiet, safe, friendly, and awesome place to live. We love the property because it has a deep swimming pond, 47 acres of land to play on, a dirt race track for us to ride our motorcycles on, and in the winter we ride our snowmobiles on it. The sunsets are beautiful and the country roads are great to bike and walk. We are far enough out of town to feel 'free' to do what we want and not be pestered, but we are close enough so it is easy to go shopping and do errands. We like where we live because there are many "day trip" activities we can do: Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, Targhee skiing, Island Park snowmobiling, Madison River tube floating, boating, fishing, canoeing, sand dunes, bridge jumping....so many things to do!

What makes this apartment unique

The guest house is on an upper level. We love the deck; it is a perch that offers pretty views of the surrounding pasture and farm land. Our favorite view is out the dining window; you can see the Tetons (when it is not cloudy) and it is fun to watch people playing in the pond. What we also like is even though the main house is next door, the guest house still feels secluded. It is its own entity. We like the guest house's décor; it is comfortable, yet energetic. And, the soft and smooth rugs in the living room soothe your tired feet.We think you will like it here. We have enjoyed it.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you, We had a great time at this house. It was very well decorated house. It was also very comfortable. We stayed here for three nights and those three nights we enjoyed. It was also full of the things we need so we barely had to buy anything.

Beautifully designed, quaint home

  • 4 of 5

We were so impressed with how beautiful this home was! It was so quaint and beautifully designed /decorated. We did not realize it was on the second story when we booked - not a problem for us but you might want to keep this in mind if you are traveling with someone who doesn't handle stairs well. The platform bed in the smaller bedroom was quite firm and did not suit the sleeping preference of my husband and I. It was also quite warm in the house and even opening the window to take advantage of the cool air made little difference in the "cubby hole" created for this bed. The bed in the other bedroom was very soft and comfortable, however, accommodating a wonderful night's rest for our travel companions. Overall it is a very nice place and the owners are very accommodating. Just a few notes to help you be prepared when you stay there.

Owner's Response: To future guests: The guest house has new central heating and air conditioning. The forced-air system has duct work that sends cool air into every room throughout the guest house; this may be utilized at any time, as well as the heating system. The mattress on the platform bed is firm with a soft memory foam topper. We have an additional topper if a softer bed is wanted.

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Our first reaction when we arrived at the property was "wow"! The home was clean, nice smelling, and very welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place, enjoyed our breakfast meals with the wonderful view of the Tetons! Everything was just perfect, the location, the decor, the 'oh-so-comfortable' beds , and clean bathrooms. The owners were so warm and briefed us about the attractions near by!

The property was well maintained.

It is around an hours drive from the park entrance and I would highly recommend this property if you plan to enter the YNP from the West side.

Wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

This was such a lovely place to stay during our visit to Yellowstone. My family of four was quite comfortable in this beautifully decorated and clean space. We were very impressed with the furnishings and how well the kitchen and pantry were stocked. The beds/memory foam toppers were so comfortable. In fact, we are looking into purchasing one ourselves. Misty and Marvin are so nice and helpful and accomodated our needs promptly. My kids also had fun playing on the trampoline. We loved the country setting and viewing the stars at night. Tip: arrive before dark as we had a little trouble finding the house on our first night. Thankfully, Marvin was able to direct us right to it. Such a nice place to stay!

Everything was very clean & looked very nice. You definitely have your own quiet space!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here! It felt so homey. It was so much nicer than staying in a hotel because there is a lot more room to move around & felt much cleaner & well cared for. Plenty of outdoor space to roam! We were sad to find the watering hole mostly empty due to a drought but we were able to go to Ashton reservoir and play there! Such a wonderful family that owns it! We really enjoyed our stay!
