About the property

2 Bed 1 Bath on 47 Acres With Dirt Race Track, Swimming Hole, And Big Parking

The Crain guest house is perfect for the rural Idaho experience and a quiet, comfortable place to chill. We are located in the country 2.5 miles east of Hwy 20 and 10 minutes North of Rexburg. The guest house has views of the Tetons, swimming pond, farm land, cows, hawks, and bald eagles. The property has plenty of space for parking trailers and there is plenty of room for your horses in our pasture. You can ride your snowmobiles and ATVs in the field.

The guest house is the perfect home base for all of your southeast Idaho adventures. We are located 3 miles from Monkey Rock waterfall; 5 miles from awesome fishing and bridge jumping; 10 miles from Rexburg; 40 minutes from Island Park; 45 minutes from Idaho Falls; 70 minutes from West Yellowstone; and 75 minutes from Jackson Hole. The world famous St. Anthony Sand Dunes are only 10 minutes away!

Do not forget your water toys and swimsuit in the summer - we have a big swimming hole with an island, rope swing, paddle boat, and sandy beach to relax on. The Ashton Reservoir is only 15 minutes away and is a quiet, beautiful waterway for boating, floating, or fishing. In the winter, our swimming hole is empty and great for snow sledding. For bigger sledding thrills, the St. Anthony Sand Dunes are only a few minutes away.

After your long day, relax on the couch or recliner and read a book or watch a movie. The kitchen is stocked so you can enjoy cooking meals at home. Or, you may eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant, El Jaliciense, in St. Anthony. Rexburg is a short drive away for dinner and a movie. Retire to bed in the quiet countryside and drift to sleep on memory foam while snuggled in a fluffy comforter.

If you need any ideas of where to play or relax, feel free to contact us. We are in the house nearby if you should need anything during your stay.

P.S. We strive to make the guest house a low allergen environment. No smoking or indoor pets are allowed; no air fresheners or candles. All linens are 100% cotton and washed in scent-free detergent; all-natural cleaning products are used to clean the house.

About Marvin or Misty Crain

Hi,

We are the Crain family. There is five of us and we enjoy the outdoors, riding big-toys with motors, reading books, fishing, swimming, cooking, and hanging out with family and friends. Marvin grew up in St. Anthony, ID and Misty is an implant from Southern California. For the past 18 years, friends and family have come stay with us to enjoy rural Idaho and it's many activities and adventures. Several times throughout the year we have family and friends that come from afar to visit us and enjoy Idaho. We decided to complete our shop and apartment project so we can offer the Crain Guest House to family, friends, and new acquaintances so they can have a quiet and private place to enjoy rural Idaho. We decided to make this rental a small family business to help our children get ready for their future independence (and develop a better work ethic). We are happy to share our guest house with you.

Marvin or Misty Crain purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Marvin or Misty Crain chose Idaho

We decided to build a home in the Wilford, Idaho area because it is a quiet, safe, friendly, and awesome place to live. We love the property because it has a deep swimming pond, 47 acres of land to play on, a dirt race track for us to ride our motorcycles on, and in the winter we ride our snowmobiles on it. The sunsets are beautiful and the country roads are great to bike and walk. We are far enough out of town to feel 'free' to do what we want and not be pestered, but we are close enough so it is easy to go shopping and do errands. We like where we live because there are many "day trip" activities we can do: Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, Targhee skiing, Island Park snowmobiling, Madison River tube floating, boating, fishing, canoeing, sand dunes, bridge jumping....so many things to do!

What makes this apartment unique

The guest house is on an upper level. We love the deck; it is a perch that offers pretty views of the surrounding pasture and farm land. Our favorite view is out the dining window; you can see the Tetons (when it is not cloudy) and it is fun to watch people playing in the pond. What we also like is even though the main house is next door, the guest house still feels secluded. It is its own entity. We like the guest house's décor; it is comfortable, yet energetic. And, the soft and smooth rugs in the living room soothe your tired feet.We think you will like it here. We have enjoyed it.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you, We had a great time at this house. It was very well decorated house. It was also very comfortable. We stayed here for three nights and those three nights we enjoyed. It was also full of the things we need so we barely had to buy anything.

Notes:
We live in an incredible part of rural Idaho, there are many fun and fulfilling activities within a 75 mile radius. Fall, winter, and summer are the most beautiful and most enjoyable seasons in our area. We are familiar with many activities that will create lasting memories and rejuvenate the soul. Please do not hesitate to ask us questions or ask for suggestions so you may have a unique and incredible Idaho experience. This area is know for: abundant fishing, hunting, kayaking, snowmobiling, ATV riding on the Sand Dunes and in the mountains, huckleberry picking, sight-seeing, and of course the gem: West Yellowstone. All of these activities are easily done in a day. Summer days are long, so you have plenty of day light for your adventures and relaxing canoe rides down Big Springs River or fishing excursions. Rexburg is ten minutes away and it hosts BYU-Idaho and a Mormon temple. Rexburg is a friendly town and has restaurants and movie theaters for your enjoyment.

Relaxing ... hated to leave

  • 5 of 5

Misty and Marvin have designed this property to make the guest house to feel welcoming in every corner. I do have one complaint .... that they do not have properties everywhere we travel. The rooms have space to gather and enjoy company but still there are places to get away alone to read or take time to yourself. Kitchen is very well equipped, bathroom has plenty of supplies, and everything is quality items. We loved our stay! We didn't try the swimming hole. Rexburg is close, St Anthony has many things you might need, Yellowstone was close as was Jackson hole. Weather was great!!

Thanks again Misty and Marvin!! We will be back!!!

Such an adorable updated guest farm house. Everything you need with plenty of stuff to do.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 5 nights and loved every minute of it. The guest house is beautifully decorated. It has everything you need.. We are a family of 7, from us grown folk to almost grown to almost 2 yrs old. We had a great time. Kids love the water hole, which had plenty of stuff to play in. Misty and her family are the sweetest. They opened their home and let the kids jump on the tramp, we even picked fresh strawberries from her backyard. I was so happy that I was able to spend time with our older children. This is because her daughter watched over my little one. There is so much to do around the area and if you don't do anything hanging around the house is perfect too! We hope to come back.

Another great thing is I received my refund for the deposit within a few days!

Great find off the beaten path!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying here very much. They have the coolest watering hole that our kids enjoyed frolicking in. My favorite part, a little hard to control, we sat and watched a lightning storm over the Tetons late in the evening. The weather was warm and we sat out on the porch, it was just lovely. Hosts were warm and inviting. Would definitely stay here again!

VERY nice place for four people

  • 5 of 5

Perfectly decorated, super nice in all rooms! Excellently equipped, owners very nice to deal with. Great outside sitting area, though on the small side (no dining table) and with a view of a few car wrecks. Very quiet location. Nice swimming hole (that was also used by the cows when we were there, but the water was ok). A/c worked well, wifi never did. Real beds for four people. Located above garage, had a little gasoline smell initially that went away after a few minutes of ventilation. Lots of things to do within 30mins. With fireplace (requires owner's WRITTEN permission before use), this place could also be nice in winter. Caution: Study the Terms first and determine if you can live with them. E.g. renter has to pay owners legal fees in case a dispute arises!
