Photos and Description of this Portsmouth holiday cottage

Charming 2 Bedroom Open Concept With Water Views From Most Rooms!

This lovely home is located along the back channel of the Piscataqua River on a dead end street just blocks from Prescott Park, Strawberry Banke, and downtown Portsmouth is ideal for one or two couples. Charming antique 2 bedroom home is filled with light and amazing water views! Completely updated yet retaining original features including Gunstock Corners and wide pine floors, the open concept floor plan features a fully-equipped central kitchen with granite counters, breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances and ample storage. Dining room offers a cozy seating area around the gas-fired wood stove surrounded by windows with views of the gardens and water. Comfortable living/family room is equipped with a flat screen TV. The first floor is rounded out by a mixed use room (pictured as an office) but will have a sofa bed for additional guests with a half bath and glass sliders leading to the deck.

The second floor offers 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other with a trundle bed offering 2 twin-sized beds. A large bathroom features a double walk in shower. Laundry is also available on site.

Glass sliders from the kitchen lead to a mahogany deck which houses a gas grill and overlooks the yard below.

The professionally landscaped yard features a pergola with lights just calling for you to dine al fresco under the stars! The lush garden includes a fire pit patio area, a water feature, gorgeous flowers and statuaries. There is an upper deck leading to the dock with various places to sit and enjoy the views! Watch the fireworks on July 4th & New Years Eve, the boats at the Pierce Island Boat launch, the horse drawn carriages across the way, and the glorious sun rises and sunsets! The water is tidal; kayak and paddle board rentals are available around the corner. There is off-street parking available for 2 vehicles. The house is just a few steps to a wonderful local fish market that will even cook your lobsters for you, a fabulous wine and cheese shop,an Italian market, and a local seafood restaurant.

The house is a short walk to downtown Portsmouth, which is a popular tourist area featuring fine boutiques, numerous theaters, art galleries & studios. Known as a top 'foodie' destination, Portsmouth has so many wonderful restaurants that it’s claim to fame is having more restaurant chairs than residents! It also features Prescott Park, which sits along the Piscataqua River & features open air concerts, plays, movies, festivals, and extensive gardens. Strawberry Banke Museum across the way is a step back in time with colonial-era homes open for view in the summer and access to an outdoor skating rink in the winter! Year round activities include 2 noted film festivals, a Christmas candle light stroll, holiday parades, a First Night Celebration, artist studio open houses, & craft shows! The city features walking tours, horse drawn carriages, and Segway tours. Just around the corner is Pierce Island offering a public outdoor pool, boat launch, dog park, picnic area, playground and walking trails. Portsmouth is centrally located one hour to skiing, less than one hour to 3 airports, and about one hour to Boston and Portland, ME!

This is a wonderful home in any season! Quiet respectful renters please.

About Liz Levey-Pruyn

I have had the good fortune to occupy this lovely home for almost 10 years. A unique situation has afforded me the opportunity to move right next door! I couldn't bear the thought of selling my special little spot so now you have the chance to experience its charm. I am a Realtor with over 17 years' experience in this area and I can honestly say this is about as good as it gets!

Liz Levey-Pruyn purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Liz Levey-Pruyn chose Seacoast New Hampshire

One of Portsmouth's best kept secrets, this home is located on a tiny dead end street along the River and steps to everything yet away from the crowds and noise! From the minute you step into the front door and see straight through to the will fall in love! My friends often comment this is their favorite home! Although wee in stature (compared to the other homes on the street) it makes up for it in light, openness and certainly mighty in charm!

What makes this cottage unique

Whether winter, summer, spring or fall there is always a spot to enjoy the season! From the various lounge and Adirondack chairs on the deck, dock and patio to the cozy swivel seats by the gas fired wood stove this home is drenched in sunlight year round! The views are captivating from almost every room! There is a light an airy feel throughout!

Sweet charming cottage in a peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I went on a getaway for 6 nights without our kids and this place was perfect. The house is very sweet and had everything we needed. The bikes were perfect and we got around mostly on them. Portsmouth is a great place to explore. The owners are fantastic and very attentive to your needs. The little yard is adorable and peaceful. Definitely a great stay. We highly recommend it.

Lovely home and patio

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for the first time this year and we couldn't have been more pleased. Beautiful, well furnished and comfortable. The outdoor space was our favorite with the flowers and teak dining set. We also enjoyed some lovely evenings outdoors around the fire pit. We would highly recommend this home.

We had the best vacation ever thanks to Liz and her incredible rental home! Everything was so beautifully decorated and maintained both inside and out. Lovely, relaxing stay

  • 4 of 5

This is a charming, cozy, relaxing hoe and neighborhood. Liz and Bruce were wonderful hosts; showing me around upon arrival and then leaving me to be to enjoy the property. The location was perfect . . short walk to town, one block from fabulous wine and cheese shop, perfect views of the river, and wonderful area for walk/run. The house is so thoughtfully furnished . . from outdoor cushions for the chairs, to bikes, to gas grill, to beach towels and everything you need in the kitchen. We had 3 cookouts while there, from 3 - 6 people, and never needed a thing, included crackers and pots for lobsters. I loved the quietness of the street and neighborhood. . . I never slept so soundly . . . while waking up to beautiful views and sunrises.
