We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom cabins and had an amazing time. The cabin had a huge back deck which overlooked the river and that is where we spent most of our time. The kitchen is small but well equipped, there was also a grill in the little front yard that we used both nights. The decor was rustic but not too dated, lots of wood which you expect for a cabin. We used the hot tub by the pool which was really pleasant. They also had cornhole, a putting green, horse shoes, Ping Pong, basketball and volleyball courts. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it looked pretty cute. There isn't really any cell phone service (which was a nice escape) but the Wi-Fi was pretty consistent throughout the property. There are some great hikes and activities nearby - we did the Horton Creek Trail but the Tonto Creek Hatchery, Tonto Bridge, the Mogollon Rim and Woods Canyon Lake aren't too far away. Overall, I highly recommend this place - it was a great weekend getaway from Phoenix.
We were on our very first family vacation. Obviously, we had a great deal of high expectations. Wow, we were not disappointed! The staff, facility and location were all incredible. It was chilly, snowy and beautiful there. I especially loved that there were kids' activities scheduled each day and that there were things for the entire family to do. We loved checking out new movies for free from the front desk. Our family will definitely be back often! ;-)
We all had such a great time! So peaceful and beautiful! The kids loved it and didn't want to go home. We couldn't believe the kitchen had everything we needed! We defiantly will be back to stay.
It was the whole package!! The location was superb! You could hike, fish, bike ride, swim, and more right from your room -- and being right on the creek with those big decks -- WOW! In addition, there are smore roasts, fire places and coaches for reading and relaxing, horse back riding, and other activities put on by the resort. Perhaps the best thing of all was the staff -- they were SUPER friendly and were ahead of us in regards to our needs! STELLAR experience!
I rented this cabin for 2 of my adult daughters and some grandchildren to stay in while other family members were camping nearby.
They were just looking for clean sheets, warm showers and locking doors etc. after visiting the campsite. However, Kohl's Ranch cabins FAR exceeded their expectations. They came back raving about how wonderful their stay was here and they want to have our next family reunion here. It was the perfect setting, the kids loved the creek, the playground, and being able to hike around in the outdoors. The grownups loved the beautiful, well appointed cabin, it had everything needed for a fabulous family vacation!
My family and I really had a wonderful expirience.
This is the 3rd time staying at Kohls Ranch.
And each Time has been just as satisfying as last.
This is perfect for me. While my husband and sons would still like to enjoy the camping expirience I personally find this much more comfortable and less packing and planning.
We had almost everything we needed here. Except for clothes and food.
We will be back God willing next year.
Oh ! Try laying on a picnic table during the night in the dark and watch the stars you might see a few falling stars .
My husband and I enjoyed that.
