The elevator was not functioning and the stairwells are blazing hot - other parts of the property need updating. The room is excellent - spacious and lots of balcony space. Very old TVs and finicky shower that is either scalding or cold.
We stayed at the Marquis Villas over the weekend to celebrate my friend's 50th bday. The resort needs upgrading for sure but totally served it purpose. The staff was great. The only issues I had were 1) the elevators did not work and we stayed on the 3rd floor. 2) the internet totally sucked. 3) the televisions were very old and did not have hdmi.
Marquis Villas is a very nice property in most aspects. My fiancee and I found our suite to be impeccably clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and everything was in good working order. My only complaint here is that both TVs were old standard-definition CRT sets. I was allowed to view a room that the hotel staff thought might have an HDTV, but it turned out to be a much older first generation big-screen TV that did not have HDMI inputs. So for those that was to plug in their laptops or other media streaming devices you're out of luck there.
The pool and surrounding area were very clean with plenty of lounge chairs and clean towels available. It would have been nice if they had more than three umbrellas available to those who wanted a bit of shade, but that wasn't too big of a deal.
The fitness center is definitely this property's biggest area of opportunity. While the fitness center itself was clean and tidy, it was also a bit small with not much equipment. One of the two treadmills and the bicep curl machine were both broken throughout our entire stay and looked to have been that way for a while. I peeked in the conference room adjacent to the fitness center and saw a lot of other equipment being stored there that could have easily fit in the fitness center (assuming they were working of course). However, for our short stay there, the fitness center did mostly suffice for our needs.
A couple of other quick notes. Parking is plentiful with the underground parking garage being well-lit and safe. The hotel also provides four luggage carts that they store in the elevator lobby down there, however competition for them gets fierce in the mornings near checkout time so be prepared.
