About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 5)

Kyeburn River Cottage is nestled against the Kakanui mountain range along the Kyeburn River ('burn' is Scottish for stream) in the gorgeous Maniototo, Central Otago. Only a 10 minute drive from Naseby, Ranfurly or Danseys Pass Hotel . This beautifully refurbished 1883 mud brick cottage is decorated to reflect a rural lifestyle whilst still providing modern comforts to ensure you stay is relaxing as possible. Escape under our big blue skies surrounded by stunning mountain ranges in an area rich in history - from the gold rush town of Naseby, the engineering works in Oturehua, curling, generations of farming and the Scottish influence. There are quaint shops to explore such as The Practice, Ranfurly - an art deco dental practice transformed into a gift gallery which tells the unique story of living in the Maniototo. There's also the art deco gallery in Ranfurly - take a stroll around the town to enjoy some unique art deco architecture. If you'd like to be a bit more active, recreational opportunities abound in the Maniototo. Go curling (all year 'round at our international curling rink in Naseby), play golf at one of our four excellent courses, take a forest walk, have a fish, be taken on a 4WD tour, have a hit of tennis or go for a swim at our local indoor pool or in any of our lovely waterways such as the Kyeburn or Sowburn (Patearoa) Rivers. The Otago Central Rail Trail can be walked, biked or ridden on horseback. So much to do. The Maniototo is a truly unique, undiscovered slice of New Zealand. Step back in time and retreat at Kyeburn River Cottage.

Extras: Linen (included); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;

We loved our stay, great place to relax and get away from it all.

We loved our stay, great place to relax and get away from it all. The house is beautiful and amazing with its open fire and with everything we needed, and a great family story behind it all. Although the house is not on the rail trail, if you have a support car, I would recommend staying here as an option or as a place to unwind after it all ?
