A decent place to stay in the heart of the city

  • 3 of 5

This place served our needs perfectly. The location was right where we needed it to be, just two blocks from the theater we were attending on Saturday night. The building was not in great shape, but was clean. The room was clean and was a fine place to relax in between things. The only problem we had was figuring out parking. We were told the building had (limited) valet parking, but there was no obvious way to get that valet. We eventually just parked in a garage down the street, which worked out just fine. This was a nice, affordable way to stay downtown, which was exactly what we needed.

Perfect downtown studio

  • 5 of 5

We came here for the weekend of New Years and I think this property was cozy. The staff in the building were very accommodating. The location could not have been more perfect.

Fantastic location!

  • 3 of 5

-fantastic location! We could walk to anything and when we got lazy we didn't take an Lyft anywhere in the city that was over $8

-responsive staff

-oooooooooooold building. Clean enough but lots of cracks in the tiles, a broken headboard, a broken window...

-no outside security or doorman to discourage the aggressive homeless.

Great Location, but....

  • 3 of 5

This apartment was in a great location, less than a block from Millennium Park which made it perfect for walking to many places in town. The train and buses are very close by which made it convenient for getting to places farther out. There is security on duty in the building lobby and they will allow you to drop your luggage off if you arrive before the 4:30 check-in time. The building is old, which is fine, but it really could use some TLC. The studio was fairly clean but it could really use some TLC as well. It has a kitchen, but don't plan on using it for much more than making coffee or making popcorn in the microwave. It has a full-sized refigerator, but you'll have to purchase ice as it doesn't even have trays for making ice. The kitchen is not very well equipped - for example only 1 fork, no kitchen towels, 1 small pot for cooking, etc. The information stated that things such as toilet paper would not be replenished during your stay, but it didn't even start out with any, so make a stop for some before arriving. With a small amount of money the studio could be very nice. Things like a bathmat so you don't slip when getting out of the shower, a set of silverware, additional plates, glasses, etc., and a small set of pans would have made the apartment so much nicer and more functional. All in all, it was okay since we were on vacation and spent much of our time out exploring the town, just make sure that your expectaions are not set too high and you will be very satisfied with this property.

Worst EVER - Deserves no stars!

  • 1 of 5

Not at all what we expected based on the listing and the photographs. Lesson learned, beware if the unit is owned by a rental company.

Owner's Response: Hello and thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry but i don't see what was the issue in this case. Can you please explain what went wrong ? Did you really stayed with us or is this a review from one of our competitors ?

the building was easy to find. The room was decent. It had a kitchen. The location was great. downhill from all of that.

When I arrived Thursday night, August 11, I was greated with the snobbiest, most rudest security guard while checking in. It was my first time in Chicago and first time at that place so i thought I just had to give my name, not know any other information. Well, because I didn't give her the information she wanted, she yelled at me and made me feel like I was bothering her.

Days 2-4 the hot water stopped working. Called multiple times to see if it would get fixed, and every time, they told me it would be fixed by that night, it wasn't. Taking freezing cold showers 3 days in a row isn't fun.

The last day, at 10am a maid came into the room, very rudely, and scared me while I was getting ready and said that check out was at 10. My reservation said check out was at 11. I told her that and she rolled her eyes and said, "no check out is always at 10" and slammed the door.

I emailed again about the cold water issue and about the maid coming in early, just in case they charged me a late fee of some sort for the confusion. Haven't heard anything back even though they say they respond within 24 hours. It's been 6 days.

It was my birthday weekend so I tried to ignore the rude staff and have fun and I did manage to have a great weekend, outside of the building.

I did like this place because of its location but that's pretty much it, everything seemed easy up until I arrived there. They seem to respond back before your trip and during, but once you're gone and paid for everything, they forget about you.
