About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

Have you ever wanted to have the quiet and solitude of being in the rolling countryside away from the stress of the city but still have all the comforts of a modern, luxurious house with a porch and rocking chairs to sit on while you watch the world go by? This 3 bedroom, 2 bath house on a working farm has all of this while being only 1 hour's drive from downtown Kansas City (45 minutes drive from World's of Fun, Oceans of Fun, and MCI airport), 20 minutes drive from St. Joseph Missouri and Missouri Western State University, 15 minutes drive from Atchison Kansas and Benedictine College, 15 minutes from Snow Creek Skiing, and 40 minutes drive from Fort Leavenworth Kansas. The house has 1 large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and two other large bedrooms with a shared bath, wood-burning fireplace, large front porch, large open plan kitchen, dining room, and all of the modern conveniences that you'd expect from a house that is less than 15 years old. If it's peace and quiet that you're after then this place is what you're looking for. It's a half-mile from the state highway on the top of a big hill so you have a panaramic degree view in all directions. The house is ideal for watching sunrises and sunsets but if you want to keep current on everything happening in the rest of the world then you can connect to the Wi-Fi. Bed linen, pillows, and towels are provided for all 3 bedrooms.

We were at the house for a family wedding. It was a great alternative to staying at a hotel! We enjoyed the country atmosphere and it was a clean a well kept property!

Owner's Response: We get quite a few guests each year who are in the area for family weddings and they stay in my house as an alternative to a hotel. So far their experiences are the same as this guest and it is very satisfying to have this kind of reaction.

Relaxing & Refreshing Weekend at the Farm House

  • 5 of 5

We rented out the Farm House for the Memorial Day weekend with a group of friends . This was the first time farm house experience for all of us. For 3 days we never felt we were staying away from our home :-) The kids loved this place so much they never wanted to leave. We had 3 families (with kids of course!!!) and the 3 bed rooms was more than sufficient for us. The kitchen comes loaded with all the dishes you need so you can cook just like you do at home . This house is located in serene spot leaving out all the noisiness and standing amidst the natural beauty. You can relax all day just by hanging out at the Porch :-) Our host Jany Thomas was so kind and helpful with all our questions. She promptly responded to our questions before our trip and during our stay. All the attractions are just an hr drive from this place. Will definitely recommend this to everyone and we are already planning to visit this place again :-)

Thanks a ton David & Jany ...

Owner's Response: It's very rewarding when guests who are from the city get a chance to experience having a family holiday in the countryside and enjoy it like these folks did. Being in a beautiful rural environment with all the amenities of a modern home and being close to so many interesting towns to explore is the key selling feature of our little slice of heaven in Missouri that we can share with our guests.

Loved this House

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for my family during my daughter's college graduation. It is a short 10-15 minute drive to the Benedictine campus. The house was large enough for all of us and Jany was very accommodating. We had a bbq after the graduation and there was a total of 23 and we never felt crowded. I would highly recommend this house to anyone.

Owner's Response: We have quite a few guests who are visiting sons and daughters studying at Benedictine College in Atchison Kansas because it a short drive to the campus but the house is in the beautiful rural countryside on the Missouri side of the river and an excellent place to relax and entertain guests if needed. A compelling combination indeed.

A great week in Rushville

  • 5 of 5

We were visiting the area to spend time with our son who is attending Benedictine College. This home is very close to the school. We love this home. On a working cattle ranch of some 1000 acres, this home is at one of the highest points in the area and has a spectacular 360 degree view of the surrounding area, including sunrises and sunsets. You can see all the way to Atchison. The house is large and very comfortable, great usable kitchen and a great room for relaxing. Veranda porch was a great way to start the day with a cup of coffee. Large Jacuzzi style tub in the master bath was great for relaxing. Incredible amounts of closet space. We felt very at home here. Thank you to our host for making this such a great visit. We will be staying again.

Wonderful time in MO!

It was a great location from Snow Creek skiing area, Weston State Park and KC. The house is very spacious and fully furnished. We had a great time and enjoyed the sunrise, sunset and the stars. Thanks for a relaxing place to have family time.

Owner's Response: It's always good to hear that one of our guests thoroughly enjoyed their stay in our home and the attractions in the immediate area like the Snow Creek skiing area. There are so many unique things to see and do, or you can choose to just sit on the front porch and do nothing but listen to the sounds of the countryside while you watch the sun rise, and watch the sun set while having a modern, comfortable house to share with your family and guests.

Peaceful, spacious, private retreat with great views and comfortable furnishings near Kansas City

  • 5 of 5

This house is on a hill on a wonderful ranch and much larger inside than pics show. Stunning view and invitation. By host to hike on property. Very nice appliances and fully furnished kitchen. Great master bedroom with sunken tub. We had a fire in the fireplace each day. Jany is a lovely hostess and made sure we had everything we needed while still respecting our privacy. Come and stay and be rejuvenated. I even made a full Christmas dinner here.
