About Frederick Kidd

I am a West Michigan native who loves taking spaces and making them into inviting and unique homes. I operate several furnished rental properties in the midwest, including Chicago Il, Grand Rapids Mi, and Spring Lake Mi.

Frederick Kidd purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Frederick Kidd chose Grand Rapids

This one is great. It has all the charm of a 1920's mission-style Craftsman home, but with just enough modern updates to make the space seamless. The location could not be better. This one is my West Michigan home when I'm not traveling or working in Chicago.

What makes this apartment unique

- Perfect location

- Big, comfortable spaces.

- Equipped with just about everything you need to simply live and enjoy your time.

Great property, excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was most enjoyable. The property was clean and quiet, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked, and best of all it is within walking distance of many restaurants, antique stores, brew pubs, coffee shops, pizzerias, etc. It is also located very near routes 196 and 131 for those occasions when we chose to drive (e.g., Meijer Gardens is only 5 miles away).

The perfect place..

  • 5 of 5

We were planning an almost month long trip to Grand Rapids, which makes choosing a place to stay sight unseen even more daunting. From the moment we arrived here everything met or exceeded my expectations. Driving into the neighborhood I knew we'd hit the "jack-pot"..adjacent to beautiful heritage homes, walking distance to one of Grand Rapids treasures "Martha's Vineyard" a neighborhood corner store that offers specialty wine, gourmet food, deli, pizza, and is open daily until midnight. Several parks and four thriving business districts that make up "Uptown" and you still haven't had to use a car. Downtown Grand Rapids is literally down the street and the homes location is also freeway close so travel to anywhere outside the area or to the airport is convenient and easy. All of this without the "perfect" home would still be enough for a great review, but for someone like me who appreciates a good interior aesthetic more than most, I have to say that the owner Frederick did an amazing job. Its exactly as described, an upscale restored Craftsman style home with every attention to detail taken care of. It's the perfect amount of space, the kitchen and bathroom are both modern and high-end, and even someone not usually a fan of this style home would be impressed. I feel fortunate that we were able to call this place home, which is exactly what it felt like after almost a month! Frederick was awesome to work with, the neighbors became friends and when we left I could only hope that we hadn't overstayed our welcome and would be allowed back :). This is the home you want to stay in, in the neighborhood you want to be in, the next time you come to Grand Rapids.

Gorgeous wood appointed apartment

  • 5 of 5

The 2nd floor unit has nice furniture and beautiful wood floors, trim and doors. The furniture is high quality and comfortable. Air conditioning made my summer visit comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with nice cookware. I loved having a basement laundry room.

The neighborhood is friendly and shared with beautiful trees. It was a $5.00 Uber ride to downtown. There are 2 Family Value grocery stores close by negating the necessity to get on the inter-state and find a Meijer Store. I found Mr. Kidd to be accommodating and helpful. This unit met my needs while attending a conference downtown.

Place was nice, but owner is not!

  • 1 of 5

I have no complaints about the property. It was as described - clean, neat, and well maintained. The apartment is in a nice, safe area. Close to restaurants and shops.

Be aware though, if you need anything from the owner, good luck. He's rude and not helpful. Would never rent from this person again.

Owner's Response: I always find it disheartening when people take to the internet to write reviews such as this. This young lady didn't get what she wanted, and she took to the internet to harm me and my reputation. I had difficulty with one of the two guests, and it had nothing to do with the home or their stay. The home was left in good condition upon their departure, and my dealings with the person who booked the home was easy and without incident. It is important to note that these guests stayed at my home in April. This review was left in June. The writer of this review did so after an uncomfortable conversation I had with her regarding her demanding a receipt from me for her half of the payment. She and her co-traveler split the bill, and each made a separate payment to Her issue was that because the reservation was made in her co-travelers name, and although she paid with her own credit card (and received a receipt), she could not use the receipt to gain reimbursement from her school. I tried to calmly explain to her that I did not personally bill her or accept payment, and that she paid, not me. While trying to explain this to her, she was extremely aggressive and would continually interrupt me. After several interrupted attempts to explain to her how she could resolver her issue, I handled her like I would have handled a screaming four year old who was not getting what they want - I walked away (in the form of hanging up on her.) Was this the best way for me to handle this? Probably not. But there was no reasoning or an adult conversation involved. Be very weary of this traveler.

Great place...will stay again!

  • 5 of 5

Frederick was wonderful to work with. He does vet his occupants prior to renting which I completely understand. The apartment has lots of charm and the photos are accurate. Lots of extra little details that make the stay very nice. The beds were very comfy! The location is premium as I love Brewery Vivant which was very close. I will stay here again sometime in the future!!
