Our family of 9 really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. Upscale neighborhood. The house was clean upon arrival. After settling in the owner came to greet us. Both owners were accessible when we had questions throughout our trip. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking and baking large meals. My family had a fun time in the inground pool. Though transportation is suggested. Enjoyed walking to the beach on Lake Ontario. Took the close by Go Transit to the Caribana festival in downtown Toronto.

Wish we were still there... sigh

This is a large house in a very nice area and the neighbours were extremely helpful.

I was a bit wary of booking this house as it had only seven reviews over the past two years and three five star reviews are from the same person, but from the photos it looked very nice. I should have known better.

When we arrived we noticed the bins at the front of the house had a lot of debris lying alongside them, then we were told the bins were full and to put our garbage bags in the garage. This turned out to be such a hassle due to racoons ripping open the bags. We were then shown into the house by the side door which seemed odd but it turned out the front door only locks from the inside so you had to use the side door. Also the rotten wooden pillar at the front door wouldn't have given a good first impression. The first room we saw was the one with the pool table which had extensive water damage marks covering the ceiling, next was the downstairs tv room, tv didn't work. The pool area looked great, then we noticed, the paving is badly needing weeded and on the far side the paving is collapsing, a dismantled plastic shed in one corner, a large drum of chemicals in another and when we looked back at the house we could see a broken drain pipe sticking out with other drain parts lying up the side of the house. The rest of the house was similar, broken dining chairs, wardrobe door missing, bath end panel missing, bedroom units with handles missing, missing light bulbs, wires sticking out of the wall.etc.

The house and pool area have numerous maintenance and safety issues. The sparse furnishings are very tired.

Not recommended.

Owner's Response: Dear John Thanks for reviewing our house. But unfortunately your review regarding the garbage bin and other flaws are unacceptable. Already I have explained you in inbox. We accept that the black bin outside the house is full. But we have shown you there are six bins in the laundry room to drop the garbage. Our garbage week is on Tuesday and we said that if the six bins are not enough for the 4 days you can leave the rest of the garbage for one day in garage. Bcuz you checked-in on June 29(thursday) and the next Tuesday morning was garbage day. Our house is in ravine and we instructed you to keep the garage door closed. But you kept it open and so the racoon went in. The side door access is easy to lock by not using the keys. So we recommended you to use side doors. The pool table room has water mark in just one square foot length but there is no water damage from the ceiling. If there was any water leakage from the ceiling you would have reported in reviews. But I thought this would not have disturbed you. Bcuz there was pot lights in the ceilings. We have 2 television in living and master bed room with cable connections in the house. We have informed you the lower TV in snooker room works with DVD player. But I don't understand, why you have to list it in the review. If you want cable connection in snooker room you should have asked me. Thanks for reviewing our pool area as great. But the weeds grow in the pavement often. I agree but before each customer check-in we clean the weeds and keep the pool area in good condition with pool maintanence. The dismantled shed was kept for our use and I don't think it would have disturbed you. The chlorine is kept for the pool cleaning people for their maintenance day. And it will be kept outside once in a week (monday) to clean the pool. Otherwise it will be kept in pool room. You haven't asked for refund before leaving the house. If you have informed us the day you checked-in the house we would have refunded the full amount or we have moved you to our other property. Without informing us anything now you are black mailing us by giving the false reviews and affecting our business. In our agreement, there is an option that if the customer is not happy with house he can get his money refund in after they check-in. I am renting my house for more than 2 years but you are the customer who give false reviews for refund of the amount. We are giving best service to our customers and they are happy with it.

Nice Family Stay

  • 4 of 5

Our extended family had a good stay here with some strong positives: Close to the GO station making access to the city convenient. Nice neighborhood (with a friendly neighbor) and the wooded location was pleasant and peaceful. The pool was a lifesaver as the week we were there the weather was in the 80s/30 (F/C). Everyone made good use of the heated pool, especially the kids! The house was as described in the listing and well-cleaned/maintained. The owner was easy to contact and had maintenance people come by to clean the pool, etc.

A few improvements would make this perfect. The air conditioning couldn't cope with the high temps, especially in the second floor bedrooms. Wi-fi was unreliable. Adults were not able to dine together as there were not enough chairs to go around the table; same for living room - not enough places for people to sit. Animals (raccoons?) were able to get into the garage at night and mess with the trash. All in all, we had a good time here. It was fun to stay in the suburbs, yet close to the city.

Needs maintenance.

  • 1 of 5

Our family trip was at the end of June, 2016. The area is very nice. When we met the owners relative, he showed us around the house. The house does need some attention for sure. We were quite disappointed when he explained the carpets needed to be vacuumed and once entering the kitchen, he explained to check the dishes as they are not always cleaned. We spent the first day of our arrival cleaning. The kitchen really was the worst of it. I found dried food on plates and pots and did not use the utensil drawers as they were very dirty. We took out what dishes and utensils we needed, cleaned them and left in (purchased from dollar store) containers. The large basement area has a pool table and a huge TV that does not work. It seemed like the house was staged with just enough furniture to be functional. The master bath has a shower door that does not close. We made a trip to the dollar store to purchase hand towels for the 3 bathrooms. In the kitchen we used the package of cleaning clothes found in the laundry room as there is no dish clothes or dish towels. The pool was so much fun. We had asked if it was heated and they said yes. It was not. I am explaining the above comments so if deciding to rent this house, you are not let down with the situation we had. We decided to not let this be a stumbling block to our vacation and make the best of it. But for the money we paid to rent the house we expected much more than what condition it was in. As I said the pool was the best attraction to this house! Loved it! We were close to the train for transportation. Our family had so much fun at Wonderland!!! Toronto has so much to do, we were very busy every day!
