About Steve Young

I grew up in Southern Illinois, and could not wait to 'Get Out,' 'Escape,' and go to the big city. I went to school in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and left Southern Illinois far behind. I thought this was great.

I had a very successful career in the online advertising, marketing, and market research world catering to big pharma. In a normal year I would fly 125,000 miles and see many places, countries and sites.

As I grew older and my 'success' continued I felt more and more that something was missing. I began to yearn for the hills of Southern Illinois, the slower pace of life, and the people I left behind more and more.

I 2013, I came home for a few weeks to help my mother move my father into a nursing home. After this was completed I flew to Milan for business, and on my way back I received a call that my mother had had a stroke. This was a life changing event for me, and I never really went home.

My father spent the year getting worse, and my Mother spent the year getting better. When my father died in December of 2013, I decided to 'officially' move to Southern Illinois in order to spend more time with my mother and be closer with family. I also made the decision to leave the company I worked for and do something simpler, and local to Southern Illinois.

June 1st, 2014 I started my company with the goal to create vacation rental homes in Southern Illinois and help the area grow tourism. Southern Illinois is a beautiful and special place, and I would like to share it with as many people as possible.

Steve Young purchased this house in 2014

Why Steve Young chose Illinois

This property was an old Bed and Breakfast, and the view was spectacular. The property was foreclosed on and a friend that I went to high school with had purchased it and remodeled the main house. The property also has a guesthouse that I am in the process of refurbishing.

Once the guesthouse is refurbished the property will sleep a maximum of 16 people, or can be rented to separate parties in the main house and guesthouse.

The proximity toe wineries, and area attractions is also great for this property.

Spacious home with beautiful morning view

  • 5 of 5

Our R2R Relay team has stayed here twice now. The first year we utilized both the cabin & house. This year fewer family members came so we rented the house only. Very clean, spacious home stocked with nearly everything you need. We only had to bring in our food & beverages. Owner was very responsive to text messages. Plenty of clean linens provided. Although we didn't watch any there was a great DVD selection, a few board games & cards in the closet. We forgot a deck of cards so that was a great find! The temperature didn't allow for us to use the rear deck, but we did enjoy our morning coffee there the previous year. Wonderful space! If we get into the relay next year, we'll definitely be back!

Great place & great location!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a girls weekend. There were 10 of us & the house accommodated perfectly! The beds were very comfortable, plenty of towels (had a washer & dryer if needed) the kitchen was fully equipped including such things as blender, crockpot, etc., a nice deck with a pretty view of the rolling terrain, grill, fire pit with wood...as you are reading it really has all you need.

The location was perfect to get to the wineries

Lastly can't say enough about the owner, he was attentive & honest... Something was left behind and he reached out to me about it & he made the effort to get it retuned to us.

I highly recommend this rental property & cant wait to stay there again!

Home away from home

This 3bedroom beauty is so spacious and clean. Beautiful deck out back. The scenic surroundings are breathtaking, serene and peaceful!! Lots of wineries everywhere. We really enjoyed our stay and watching the species of birds that entertained us each morning over our cup of coffee!! Steve thank you so much for helping us out of a bind when we were homeless!! You're amazing and so are your properties.

home away from home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were in a mess trying to find somewhere to stay the last minute. Steve was so accommodating. This house is so clean, spacious and comfortable. Especially the beds. The surroundings are so serene and peaceful. There's a Winery just down the street( Star View) buy a bottle or a glass and hangout on the deck. Coming back in a couple of weeks to checkout another one of his properties. Can't wait!! Thanks again for working so hard for us so that we can enjoy seeing our son this spring!!
