Photos and Description of this York Beach holiday cottage

A cozy 2 bedroom, family friendly cottage a short walk to Long Sands Beach.

This is a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom cottage that will accommodate up to 6 people. The bedrooms each have a double bed that will accommodate 2 people each and a pull out couch. There is a full refrigerator, and 4-burner stove w/full oven, and a gas grill.

Just a short walk to get to Long Sands beach. You can watch Nubble Light and Boone Island Lighthouse from there. Rest rooms and floats available at the beach. There are grocery stores/delis and soft-serve ice cream near by.

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, including the famous Goldenrod, home of those delicious kisses, and Rossi's bakery and plenty of shops to visit.

Traveling North on Rt 1, the next town is Ogunquit (by definition, means 'beautiful place by the sea'). Ogunquit and Perkins Cove, located in Ogunquit is an eclectic mix of quaint shops and boutiques to enjoy. You don't want to miss the enjoyable walk along the Marginal Way to view the landscape, homes and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. A definite 'must see.' Ogunquit has been voted the 2nd most visited place in the USA.

Attractions in Portland include the old historic section on the water front, the Portland Lighthouse, and Haddock Field - home to the Portland Sea Dogs baseball team,

A little further North is DeLorme maps with a huge 3-story globe of the world. Keep on trekking north to L. L. Bean in Freeport - an all-day event visiting all levels with fish ponds with live fish, bears, deer and moose throughout the store.

Traveling South about 7 miles down the road is historic Portsmouth, NH village for a visit the Strawberry Banke, and Prescott Park to see the outdoor shows, a great family affair.

Along the way are the Kittery Outlets and the Kittery Trading Post. Be sure not to miss a guided tour of the submarine the USS Albacore.

Why Warren Bailey chose Southern Coast of Maine

Our property is on a quiet street close to the beach. There is a yard where children can play. Each room has lots of natural light.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Quiet place-no neighbors to bother you. Property was pristine, come here every year. Kids are growing up and enjoying everything that's here. Owners couldn't do enough to make you feel at home. Love the owners.

great beach location for a family trip

  • 3 of 5

Our family was pretty excited to be close to the beach for our vacation. It was about a 7-10 minute walk through the paths, so it makes walking doable. The house was a good size for our family and had a decent size yard to enjoy. The yard recently had some work, which we were not informed about, so it was hard make good use of it while we were there. Love the clothes line though! Although the house was equipped with most everything we needed, it was not very clean, which made it uncomfortable to eat and cook. There are so many fantastic places to eat in the area that it wasnt a big issue, but to able to bbq would have been nice too. My suggestion would be to hire a cleaning services in between stays to eliminate the dog hair and odors and keep things cleaner. Its a great house in a quiet neighborhood, just needs some TLC!!

poor cleanliness, nice yard and neighborhood, well equipped

  • 2 of 5

Excellent yard for picnics and yard games, house well equipped with everything. Nice quiet lovely neighborhood walking distance from the beach. Although generally speaking the place was dirty. Moldy shower curtain, pet odor with animal hair all over the carpet, bath and kitchen towels old stained and grungy, filthy floor throughout. Because the place was so dirty I was nervous about cleanliness of blankets and bedding

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback and the nice characterization of the neighborhood. Some of what you experienced was pollen. To mitigate against pollen the largest of the trees in the yard have been taken down. Another, component of the "uncleanliness" you mentioned is actually the color of the flooring. It is unfortunate you didn't agree with the decor upon arrival. Every effort is made to represent the property accurately. As for the shower curtain, is replaced each summer replaced. Linens are not included in the rental. There is an expectation you will provide your own and that was made clear in our correspondence well in advance of your arrival. It is also too bad you brought your pets even though the no pet policy was also made clear along with your inquiry about linens. Hopefully, in the future you will find a place that is suitable for your needs.
