My family returned this weekend from a week at this wonderful house. The house was super clean, thoughtfully and beautifully decorated and furnished, and it had really nice amenities (e.g., Viking stove and very nicely renovated bathrooms). The kitchen area is gorgeous, with wood beams/high ceiling and many windows and an open concept. We spent most of our time in that area and the adjacent sitting room, and I was happy it tempted us away from the small TV room. Everything was spotless when we arrived, which was really appreciated. Nice backyard for hanging out and we also hung around the front stoop and chatted with neighbors and watched passersby. The location is superb - we walked just 2-4 blocks to everything there was, though the beach is a longer journey, walkable but long and so we drove and parked with no problem - and the historic exterior adorable. Utensils, dishes, kitchen knives, laundry, coffee maker, bike, on and on, everything you need. Downsides: The space won't work for everybody. We were flexible and it worked, but it wasn't ideal. There is a master bedroom and a bedroom a few feet away with two twins. They share a large upstairs full bathroom in the hallway. The other full bathroom is on the first floor in the main area where no bedrooms are. There is a pull out couch in the adjacent room (the TV room). The other room is essentially an attic room with two twins. Cute and nice but a low low angled ceiling and you have to take stairs up to the room from inside of the master bedroom. The two sitting rooms on the first floor are cosy and very nice and very comfy, but small. No room for kids to play and no great room; just room for 4 unless you pull over a kitchen chair or two for two more people to squeeze in. So just FYI as to those possible limitations. If that's no issue for you, this was a wonderful house (A+, and we have been to beach houses for decades, though mostly we stay beachfront so staying in town was different but we liked it a lot) and the owner was great and made things easy and simple as they should be. We will be back. We loved the house, our week, and our first time in Lewes. Lewes felt like a small Cape Cod town, with cute restaurants, a few shops, park/canal front, and streets of cute historic homes. Good for families with small kids, as the town is quiet and calm and not much going on (15-20 minute drive to putt putt and movies and a boardwalk), and the beach is the bay with zero waves.

Lovely house, great area, wonderful accommodations. i got lots of support from the owner throughout. We (my dog and i) have taken numerous trips to Lewes and simply love the nearby beach, the nature preserve, Henelopen, and walks in the neighborhood and historic part of Lewes. This was a wonderful stay.

Amazing family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing three generation family reunion in this house. Our family experience was greatly enhanced by what this house has to offer: it is so full of character and so well taken care of, a mixture of historic construction and modern amenities, and it's central location. We enjoyed walking to restaurants, to the fishing pier, playground in Lewes and short drives to cape henlopen park and other sites. Thank you for our wonderful memories.

Wonderful home in the center of historical Lewes.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful Labor Day weekend in the lovely historical town of Lewes Delaware. The home we stayed in could not have been better for its location and amenities. The house is located ideally one block away from downtown where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. On Saturdays the famous Lewes farmers market is literally a stones throw away and a must for those looking for fresh vegetables and organic produce straight from the farm. The beach is a 5 minute bike ride away. The house, all be it historical, is completely updated with modern kitchen appliances, an open floor plan and a coziness that prevails throughout the home. There is considerable attention paid to the interior decorating and can easily sleep 6 comfortably. Central air is a bonus along with a perfectly sized backyard for bbqing and relaxation. We will definetly be planning a return trip to this charming house in wonderful downtown Lewes.

Great location, as advertised

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just returned from a stay at this charming house. As other reviewers have said, the location is ideal—close to the canal activities (fitness classes, outdoor movies, playground, tennis and boating) and close to downtown (quaint shops, restaurants). In Lewes you feel like you've stepped back in time, and the house is totally in keeping with that vibe. It was a comfortable, cozy house for my family of 6. Cape Henlopen state park is a five minute car ride away, full of wonderful biking trails (free bike rentals!) and a quiet, clean ocean beach that rivals the best I've been to in the Northeast. Easy striking distance to the Rehoboth boardwalk, Tanger outlets and more, and plenty of reasons to just stay put and soak up the history of Lewes.

My family and I truly enjoyed the time we spent in this house. It's location could not be more perfect. The house is one street away from the main street of Lewes, it is in a lovely historic district, lawns are well manicured with beautiful flowers and trees, parking was a breeze, the area was perfect for morning walks, and the Lewes Historical Society property was right across the street. On Saturdays, there is a fantastic Farmer's Market at the Lewes Historical Society. That cannot be missed. I have absolutely nothing to add to this house's charm, everything was fantastic. Thank you to the Owners for the opportunity!
