The Crow's Nest-77B Amscray Lane
Headline: Secluded Home Offers Water Access, Stunning Harbor and Island Views
Summary: 2 BR,2.5 BA, Sleeps 4 -
Description: Wonderful new custom built home with large deck overlooking a protected harbor and a private island. The Crow's Nest has two bedrooms with queen beds, two full bathrooms, a large living/dining/bedroom and an upstairs with a bedroom. The house has large front and side decks with stunning views. The house is built on a slope so when your sitting on the deck you feel like you are sitting in the trees overlooking beautiful protected land.

Extremely quiet surroundings, at end of a long drive. You'll have access to a dock to put in a kayak or canoe. The area is perfect for paddling around and exploring. There are two small islands to visit for a picnic or a swim, a colony of seals to watch (please try to respect their space and stay back 150 feet) and if your lucky Bald Eagles and Opreys nesting and hunting in the area. Wildlife abounds with eagles, osprey, terns, loons, cormorants and the occasional porpoise over the water and rabbits, deer and once in awhile porcupine or fox visit the property. This side of Mount Desert is often sunny when other parts are fog bound. The water is warmer here and more calm. Perfect for Kayaks and canoes.
About You: Susan lives at the top of the hill and two properties over. If you have any questions she will do her best to help.
Why This Property: This property is perfect for two couples or a family looking for a quiet getaway. Well behaved dogs are always welcome.
Unique Benefits: The Crow's Nest is quiet and peaceful, the views are incredible, the building is new and it's a kayakers paradise. A truly great place to explore Acadia and MDI.

The Quiet was incredible
Secluded from the traffic. Easy access to water (it is a rocky trail but well worth it) We kayaked and pretty much had the water to ourselves except for the harbor seals which were fascinating to watch. You can rent Kayaks and they will deliver to the house. You do have to haul down to the water but well worth it. Screened in porch was a great place to relax after a long day of hiking or biking. We did both. This is a wonderful place to stay and cannot recommend enough. BTW, you are close to Bar Harbor but we found Southwest Harbor to be a Gem. Popovers at the Common Good (designed to raise funds for meals for the needy), great lobster places on the harbor with free parking with several other restaurants close by. Give Archies a look in Tremont. The Beech Mountain Ladder trail , though not as hard as the Bee Hive trail , great fun and zero crowds. Not sure why more people were not doing. I could go on , but I do not think you be disappointed if you love the outdoors.

Lovely, high-up view of sunsets and islands
This is an interesting two-level house perched high above the quiet bays on the western side of MDI. The wrap-around deck is a great place to watch the bay go quiet in the evening. The path to the shared dock is precipitous but worth the effort, since seals and loons are everywhere to be seen. An extra plus is the collection of classic detective stories that are available for rainy-day reading. Internet service on that side of the island does tend to be unreliable--the owners do the best they can to provide.

Why they chose this property

The site is perfect for two couples or a family looking for a quiet get-away with water and island views. Well behaved dog welcome – no other critters allowed.

What makes this property unique

The Studio is quiet and peaceful, the views are incredible, the building is up-to-date; and is a kyacker / canoeor’s paradise. Seals abound (please respect their privacy and stay 150 feet away from their basking rocks). Eagles, Osprey, Terns, Loons, and Cormorants fish in the area and the occasional pod of porpoise swim by. The views include Blue Hill, Black Island and Oak Point. This side of Mount Desert is often sunny when other areas are fog bound, and the water is warmer. It’s a peaceful getaway 15-20 minutes from the hectic tourist frenzy of Bar Harbor in the summer time. Well behaved flea treated dog welcome.
