Picket fence charm in a cottage sunny, by the sea
I stayed in this delightful cottage in August 2013 for 2 weeks. Being born and raised in that area, I had many relatives stopping by. We hung out on a spacious porch and took turns swinging on the hammock and enjoyed swimming in the nearby bay. The trees and flowers surrounding this cottage only made it more inviting! A real find!
This was our second summer vacation at Jamesport at Picket Fence Cottage. The cottage is a perfect place for a small family. It is located within 2 minutes walk from the beach. You can easily get to wineries, restaurants, farms, supermarkets, fish markets, bakeries, aquarium, etc.
The owners are very friendly and responsive.
We had most of our meals outside in the backyard - perfect place to relax and have a glass of cooled white wine from the local winery, grill fresh fish from the local market or for a cup of tea with the fruit pie from the local farm.
This was a fantastic getaway and we are planning to come next summer!
Thank you Barbara and Sean!
This snug cottage was as advertised: clean, sweet, quiet, with an expanded, shady porch and tidy yard. Good location on a S. Jamesport street. No views, but a block and a half to bay beach in one direction and a few blocks to marina in another. Easy drives to North Fork towns, restaurants, wineries, golf, outdoor beach and boating fun and farm stands with lovely produce and yummy bakery goods, fresh fish and meats. Very responsive and friendly owner who is nearby if needed (but we didn't have any issues). Tiny kitchen has the essentials and a table for two. You may want to bring your favorite prep knife if you plan on doing a lot of cooking. The porch has a propane fired grill. Not a place for a big clan and entertaining crowds, but perfect for couple plus a dog alone, or with one or two children (1 bedroom off living room, with an added loft bedroom with 2 single beds). Our stay coincided with a perfect week of sunny, but mild weather, so we spent our days outside or exploring the Fork with ample time lounging on the porch. Old school, slightly funky interior furnishings were comfortable enough for relaxed evenings drinking wine, chatting, listening to music and reading. There is an old TV, but we didn't really use it. We brought our own portable hot spot for internet access. Small bathroom is definitely a solo proposition. A small, convenient gravel and shell parking area borders the street and yard. (Shared with a larger rental house on the property, set back and mostly shielded from the joining cottage yard by lush planted hedges.) We enjoyed our stay a great deal. Just the kind of calm we needed at the close of a hectic summer.
My wife and I had a fantastic weekend at this beautiful cottage. The location is excellent, a 1 minute walk to the gorgeous beach and a lovely neighborhood. Our hosts Barbara and Sean were so accomodating and helpful with everything, they were a real pleasure. This cottage is the pefect city getaway for some rest and relazation, not to mention some serious grilling! Highly recommended and we will be back. Thanks so much!
Last year my family and I spent a week in the the cottage run by Sean and Barbara. I cannot tell you enough how wonderful they were to us during our stay. When I needed anything I did not have to ask twice and Sean was there. The area is great a stones throw to the beach and the wonderful breezes from the bay while lying on the hammock is all but a wonderful dream memory now! We fished, swam, ate and just relaxed with my husband, sons and friend. Thank you Sean and Barbara. Save a space for us during the summer of 2015!!!!!
Cottage was very quaint and well equiped. You want for nothing. Yard was beautiful Block from beach and restaurant. Shopping and vineyards down the road. All and all a wonderful week.
This is a beautiful little cottage in the picturesque area of Peconic Bay. A lovely yard area with plenty of shade allowed us to have the afternoon rest and night dinners. It’s perfectly located within a walking distance from a beach. The house is well maintained and clean. We are definitely coming back again.
