You will love my serene, cozy, very private house and its fabulous location in the rice paddies of Penestanan (Ubud). Perfect mix of Bali village life and an up-market neighbourhood full of great restaurants, art galleries, cafe's, yoga studios and spas.
Watch the sunset, have a massage, sip coconut water from freshly cut organic coconuts, listen to a nightly frog concert...
Great location. You can find several restaurants offeing wide variety of food in close proximity. A Bintang supermarket within 10 minutes walk. 15minutes walk to downtown Ubud. Plan day trips to various temples, Batur Volcano, rice terraces, museums and galleries.
We have a yoga mat, yoga blocks, and hand weights for your use. The hardwood floor upstairs is perfect for yoga practice, with the wonderful view of the greenery of rice paddies.
We have a massage table and will even give you a number for an amazing masseur who can come to the house..
We are amongst the rice paddies, 5 minute walk from the road. There is no direct car access. There are two ways to the main road - one to the Penestanan Road and all the cafes, restaurants and spas plus some cool little shops - that's a 10 minute walk. The other one is to the main Ubud Road via the famous Tjampuan Steps - that one is 5 minutes to the road, but involves a long flight of steps. (Down towards the Main Road, up from the road to the house). The stairs and the paths leading to the house from the roads are lit with street lamps, but they are not always on***
*** The street lights are manually turned on by the first person to pass by at dusk. If it's you - just flick the switch on the pole. You can't miss it.
We have a massage right at home - we have a massage table and will even give you a number for amazing masseur who can come to the house..
My lovely home is set in the rice paddies of Penestanan, our artist's village on the edge of Ubud that has no car access or car sounds (but many sounds of geckos, roosters, frogs and birds) and still just minutes away from the centre of Ubud.
You can practice yoga overlooking the rice field in the large bedroom that opens up onto a balcony.
Penestanan now has its very own yoga studio, meditation center, two 5-star restaurants, funky Round Bar, raw food restaurant, fresh organic juice bar, Japanese health food, two cafe's and a bakery so you don't even have to go to Ubud, which is only 15 minutes walk anyway.
It's a perfect location to make day trips to various temples, Batur Volcano, rice terraces, woodcarvers village, museums and galleries.
My friendly housekeeper will come every morning and make you a delicious breakfast. She will also make the bed and clean the house daily. She is a treasure trove of local information and can help arrange a car and driver to take you sightseeing, and/or car or motorbike rental.
There is a swimming pool at a small quaint hotel down the path that can be used for a small daily charge.
The house grew on us. Ubud on the Island of Bali grew on us. Staying in a home, inside a traditional Bali Hindu compound atop the rice paddies was a wonderful experience. Bali is over the rainbow and one stop beyond Oz. It is centrally located with many unique features. Be sure to get great directions to the house before leaving home.
