Experience Life at The Commonwealth by Stay AlfredOriginally constructed in 1902 as the Commonwealth Title & Trust Building, now on the national registry of historic buildings, this newly renovated treasure puts you in the middle of Philadelphia’s most desirable neighborhoods. Journey back in time as you enter The Commonwealth’s lobby with vintage Art Deco wall sconces, mailboxes, and chandelier. You may be tempted to linger downstairs admiring the architecture while sipping complimentary coffee, but an even more inviting apartment awaits you upstairs.
Large windows in every room and sleek European design elements define this home. Bathed in natural light, the open concept living room and kitchen are warm and inviting. There is more than enough room for your entire party to spread out and relax in front of the TV when you need a break from the city. Take advantage of the full kitchen to prepare meals and save money.
With two spacious bedrooms and a pull-out sofa, this condo accommodates up to 5 people. The master bedroom features a plush king bed, large closet, and adjoining bathroom. In this private oasis you’ll probably forget you aren’t at home. The second bedroom, on the opposite side of the apartment, has a heavenly queen bed and spacious closet. Privacy is never an issue in this condo.
Hardwood floors throughout are just the tip of the iceberg as far as upscale elements. Both bathrooms have been outfitted with premium Grohe fixtures. The kitchen boasts custom-crafted European cabinetry, granite countertops, and stainless steel GE appliances. And let’s not forget the in-home Bosch washer and dryer.
While it might be hard to convince yourself to leave this amazing apartment, you can take solace in the fact that you don’t have to be gone long as it is close to everything! Located in the 'Midtown Village' section of Philadelphia’s City Center, the trendiest restaurants, shops, and attractions are at your doorstep. The famous Reading Terminal Market is blocks away, offering the finest locally grown produce and fresh meats, seafood and poultry; if you don’t have time to cook, grab a sandwich from DiNic’s or Salumeria.
Less than a mile away from The Commonwealth are a plethora of historical sites such as the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the Betsy Ross House. But history isn’t the only thing this location has to offer. Philadelphia’s art and cultural epicenter—the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Philadelphia Museum of Art—is within two miles of your home base. Don’t forget to pose for a picture on the museum’s famous Rocky Steps. To really treat yourself after a long day of sight-seeing, head down the block to try one of Capital Grille’s famous dry-aged steaks. Then stop for a nightcap of house-aged spirits at Bank & Bourbon on your way home.

We could not have been happier with our choice! Spacious, clean, bright and comfortable corner apartment on the 15th floor with open city views. Great building and location. The entire process from reservation through check-out very smooth.
Would highly recommend.
A colleague and I travelled to Philly for a conference at the Lowe's hotel and didn't want to pay the conference rates for a hotel room. The apartment from Stay Alfred was literally 100 steps to the conference hotel for half the price. Plus, we got a full apartment and didn't have to share a bathroom :-)
The apartment itself was well appointed, clean, and modern with plenty of space for two business colleagues. It had everything you could want. Additionally, the location was perfect for checking out the sites. Just blocks from Indenpence Hall, Mutter Museum, Reading Market, and the Magical Gardens (all which are worth seeing).
The apartment is in a residential building with access to a parking spot (which is a plus). There is a doorman on duty at all times, which is helpful. The building seems new and the apartment matched the photos provided. The only things I could think that might improve the apartment would be more lighting in the bathroom and, possibly, updating the mattress in the second bedroom. However, these issues were minor and did not detract from our stay.
Also, the staff from Stay Alfred were extremely helpful. For example, there was an issue with a handle in the bathroom and they had maintenance there the next day to resolve the problem.
Overall, this was an excellent option for participating in the conference and I am thinking about returning with my husband to just enjoy the city.
What a great experience we had staying in this apartment. It was very roomy and the location was fabulous. It is located near numerous restaurants and only blocks from all of the historic attractions. I highly recommend.
The apartment building was very secure and the location allowed is a quick walk to the convention center for my daughter's NEQ volleyball tournament. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms were so much more convenient than the hotel rooms her teammates ended up with. The apartment was very clean and had everything to make our stay pleasant and comfortable.I would definitely stay here again next tournament.
This apartment is in a great place. Everything is within walking distance - including the subway station. The place was clean. Security is great. The only downfall is the noise. There is some construction going on across the street and it starts at 5am so its pretty noisy. But it became part of the back ground noise once you got used to it.
We'd definitely return.
Very much enjoyed the apartment and the city. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished. The city is a great place to visit during the holiday season with so many events in the area. Enjoyed the history and night life as well. Parking is convenient. Three minor issues: Noise from the street (construction, traffic, people), Broken toilet seat, Son couldn't figure out how to use cable TV. Would stay here again but will use the ear plugs provided.
