3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Cottage With Lakefront Located On 5 Acres Of Woodland

(Note - Saturday to Saturday check-in(4pm)/check-out(10am)

Bedroom 1 : 1 queen bed

Bedroom 2 - 1 queen bed, 1 bunk bed

Loft bunk room - Sleeps 6

Large living room with fireplace and open air ceiling to loft area

Dining room has large table with seating for 8 - 10

Kitchen area has stove, microwave, fridge/freezer with icemaker and water, and dishwasher.

We have tried to keep our cottage a place for our family to concentrate on the outdoors and each other, not technology... meaning there is no cable, or wifi available. There is a TV in the loft bedroom that has a DVD player and outdoor antenna attached, but there are limited channels.

We have a ton of books and games available in the living room bookshelfs.

For outdoor eating and relaxing there is a large deck with 2 tables, umbrellas, and chairs on the main level, and if you want a little more secluded shady area for sitting or reading etc. you can move down to a beautiful cement patio below.

The basement of the cottage is closed off, and not included in the rental.

A short walk down the hill leads you to the fire pit, tetherball, horse shoes, and waterfront/dock area. If you bring a volleyball/badminton net, there is even a nice area to set that up by the dock area.

Why Phil DeVries chose Michigan

My wife and I purchased this land in 2006 and built the cottage in 2007. We chose the location and designed the cottage with family in mind. We were looking for something that would combine outdoors and lakefront living in one destination and we knew immediately that this was the place! Fishing, boating, swimming on the beautiful 5000 acre Hamlin Lake right out front, and thousands of acres of the Manistee National Forest right out back...

What makes this chalet unique

Our cottage is a natural setting, no manicured lawns or underground sprinkling. We think the deer, squirrels, pileated woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and chipmunks like it best this way.

FIVE STAR... Thumbs up!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful place that is spotless clean. The location is nestled in the forest giving it a remote location. More than enough room for the 11 adults we had stayed on our family Labor Day weekend 2016. Truly a joy. Phil was always quick to responded and very helpful. Total thumbs up here.

Wonderful property!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 spent the week, and had a great time. Everything you could need is provided for you. We loved kayaking, it's the perfect setting for it. The home's open concept is perfect for time with family, but there were plenty of places to find a quiet spot to yourself, if you should choose to. The property manager is close by to help with any problems. Probably the most relaxing week we've ever spent on Hamlin Lake.

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your thoughts here. We love hearing about families building memories on the North side of Upper Hamlin Lake. It truly is a unique experience. Phil & Tricia

Very happy with house and location!

  • 5 of 5

Clean and updated house with plenty of room and things to do for everyone! We had a great time fishing, hiking to Lake Michigan, grilling, playing horse shoes, kayaking and more. I would definitely recommend this house for any group or family looking to get away and share some memories. Thanks to Phil and property manager Mark for making it happen!

Great house an an amazing lake

  • 4 of 5

We spent a full week on Hamlin Lake in this fantastic cottage. A representative of the owners met us at the house and did a great job walked us through all the details and amenities. This house itself is great - with a loft room for the kids. We had the five of us there the entire week and our friends joined us (another 5) mid-week - was very comfortable for 10. Hamlin Lake itself if beautiful - especially Lower Hamlin with the amazing sand dunes.

My only complaint is that it is almost impossible to swim directly in front of the house as it is located in an inlet that is full of seaweed and there is really no place to swim off of the shore or dock - you need to kayak or boat to other locations on the lake in order to do so.

A relaxing getaway in an awesome house!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at your cottage. We hiked the trail to Lake Michigan through the "Shire". Our sons camped overnight on the Lake Michigan beach. We kayaked around the bay to the dunes. The kids played tetherball and we played horseshoes. I explored the area roads in the Nordhouse dunes on my bike.

We had some great campfires. We had a great worship service around the campfire Sunday morning. So peaceful and restful.

Your place is so tastefully designed and decorated.

Interested in returning some day!

Thanks for sharing it with us!

Wonderful family-friendly vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommened, this was one of the best rentals our family has enjoyed. It was very clean and comfortable. We went hiking, kayaking and fishing. The kids didn't complain about the lack of TV, spending time playing cards and games. Perfect getaway.

Map

Car: necessary

Our Cottage is located on 5 acres of woods that boarders Rupert's Bayou on Upper Hamlin Lake to the West, and Manistee National Forest to the North. It has been a wonderful relaxing family get away and reunion spot for us. It can sleep anywhere from 8 to 12 persons. Bedroom 1 (Queen), Bedroom 2 (Queen + 1 bunk bed), Loft bunk room (sleeps 6). The fishing for bass and panfish is spectacular right in the bayou. You can also hike right from the cottage through the Nordhouse Dunes to pristine undeveloped Lake Michigan shoreline.
