About Michele Derwin

I have enjoyed this area since the late 70's. The beauty and the stars are magnificent year round. I love the waterfalls and out of the way swimming holes. Water here is abundant and truly a blessing - especially when so many areas do not have it. I am a musician and love to travel. I enjoy summers here with my grandson adventuring and finding new things to do.

Michele Derwin purchased this farmhouse in 1993

Why Michele Derwin chose Wells

This property boarders state on two sides and while you can walk for hours on the many trails to lovely locations, it is also quiet and peaceful. The many windows in the house make even the cold and rainy days enjoyable. The deer will romp and play out back, the wild turkey wander through and even the occasional Blue Heron and Bald Eagles make an appearance. Everyone who visits loves the house and the atmosphere.

What makes this farmhouse unique

To me - the best thing about the house is the location. Close enough many activities and sites...but out of the way enough to feel the peace and quiet of the mountains. I love sleeping here with the windows open and waking to the sound of deer walking outside or the rain falling on the roof - even the sound of snow falling. The house has lots of natural wood and sitting areas. The Screened in porch is wonderful in the summer you can bring the fold out bed down and sleep there. It is worth getting up early and walking up the trails to look back on the sunrise as it makes its way over the house.

Perfect location for a getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a long weekend. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed, and the cross country skiing over at Lapland lake was great, even with spring lake conditions. We'll definitely return next winter!

A tranquil and quiet place

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I loved our time in the Adirondacks! Even though the weather was ultra cold, we enjoyed traipsing through the woods behind the property, seeing deer through the trees and watching the snow fall. The quiet and peace was lovely. Definitely a place to decompress and enjoy nature. Winter was certainly beautiful here and I can imagine that the other seasons would offer even more in the way of places to explore!

Comfortable and spacious

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the house at Pumpkin Hollow. Our dog loved the big yard. There are several different living areas so a group could spread out. The wifi is strong. Auger Falls is a beautiful hike not far away. The wood stove was perfect. The house is nicely insulated- heats right up with stove and the little gas heater in the back porch. We didn't use the upstairs but went up to look around and it's nice. We hope to return with a group of friends. Michele provided eggs and coffee which were much appreciated. There are plenty of spices and good pans and utensils for cooks. Bring groceries!! Overall a fantastic place and we would return in a heartbeat!

Super comfortable beds, quiet with lots of wildlife sights, and great walking and running trails!

  • 5 of 5

In two weeks, we hiked two High Peaks plus several local trails, ate tasty local food, read our books and slept well every night.

We highly recommend staying here!! We even had a massage on our last day, so we re-enter our jobs refreshed and relaxed.

We were looking for a getaway cabin in the snow for Christmas time. This house fit the bill!

  • 5 of 5

This home was warm and cozy with the added bonus of the "deer show" every morning and evening! Snow was on the ground when we got here and snowed for two of the three days we stayed. My husband and our dogs and I got the perfect quiet getaway we were looking for. The owner was easy to contact when needed which was not at all since the house was well stocked and instructions simple. Thank you Michele and Robin!!
