About Michele Derwin

I have enjoyed this area since the late 70's. The beauty and the stars are magnificent year round. I love the waterfalls and out of the way swimming holes. Water here is abundant and truly a blessing - especially when so many areas do not have it. I am a musician and love to travel. I enjoy summers here with my grandson adventuring and finding new things to do.

Michele Derwin purchased this farmhouse in 1993

Why Michele Derwin chose New York

This property boarders state on two sides and while you can walk for hours on the many trails to lovely locations, it is also quiet and peaceful. The many windows in the house make even the cold and rainy days enjoyable. The deer will romp and play out back, the wild turkey wander through and even the occasional Blue Heron and Bald Eagles make an appearance. Everyone who visits loves the house and the atmosphere.

What makes this farmhouse unique

To me - the best thing about the house is the location. Close enough many activities and sites...but out of the way enough to feel the peace and quiet of the mountains. I love sleeping here with the windows open and waking to the sound of deer walking outside or the rain falling on the roof - even the sound of snow falling. The house has lots of natural wood and sitting areas. The Screened in porch is wonderful in the summer you can bring the fold out bed down and sleep there. It is worth getting up early and walking up the trails to look back on the sunrise as it makes its way over the house.

Beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

The only sounds you can hear are nature. A wonderful escape. We had daily visits from a hummingbird. Enjoyed s'mores by the campfire and walked the trails behind the property. Found the house to be cozy and delightful. The owner Michele was very thoughtful and accommodating by supplying treats of a dozen farm fresh eggs and locally grown apples. It is a nicely secluded property away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Everything inside the home was very accessible in case you forget anything. One of our favorite places to stay by far. Highly recommended!

A wonderful retreat in a beautiful area!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took a much needed vacation to Adirondack Park with our dog. Michele was welcoming and gracious. She even had fresh eggs from a local source waiting for us. Yum! The cabin was comfortable and private. We hiked the trails, played endless games of ball with the dog, read, cooked, savored the quiet and the clear starry skies. A wonderful place to recharge!

Beautiful setting and the house was perfect.

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we pulled in the driveway we knew that we made the right choice. The house was spacious yet cozy. The kitchen was equipped with everything you would need to make your stay convient. The bathrooms were very clean, which is a big plus for me! The bedrooms were spacious and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Michele was more than willing to answer any and all questions that we had. She also gave us directions to several beautiful areas to explore. She gave us the name of her friends that own Square Eddy whitewater rafting. They were wonderful people and excellent guides. We had a blast with them!! We are planning on coming back to the area next year and will be staying in Michele's house once again.

A Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful time at this beautiful Authentic Log Home. All the comforts of home and then some. The home is very quiet, cozy, warm ,comfortable and very clean. The location was great. Away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas yet close enough to everything there is available . An incredible collection of great books and music. Plenty of room to roam. The grounds were very pretty with a Fire Pit and available wood. A great screened in porch for total relaxation .Wildlife galore. Michele was very helpful , welcoming and generous with her home. There is material at the home with local information on things to do, restaurants, stores etc. Just need to bring yourselves and your luggage. Really loved this place.

Everything we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

Jason and I were looking for a cozy cabin getaway for a quiet weekend getaway in the woods. We could not have asked for anything more than Michele's house. The listing description and photos were accurate and everything was very clean. Michele is very welcoming and gracious and met us upon our arrival and gave us a tour of the house. The house has plenty of room with three bedrooms upstairs and one down. We thought it might feel too big for just the two of us, but with the upstairs curtained off, and a bedroom downstairs, we had the cozy cabin feel we were hoping for. The weather was brutally cold during our stay, but we were quite warm with a fire and the many comfortable blankets Michele has around the house. The house is very well equipped and we had everything we could have needed for cooking, eating, drinking, and cleaning up. We enjoyed Michele's decor and personal touch throughout the home. While it was too cold for us to get out much, there are plenty of woods and hiking trails around to satisfy a hunger to spend time in nature. Our favorite activity: morning coffee while watching the parade of deer through the woods and at the edge of the yard.

We recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable and clean getaway close to nature and hiking. Whether a weekend for two or a family of more, this property is great!

Thanks Michele.

Martha and Jason

An Adirondack Gem

  • 5 of 5

Michele's home was easy to find but very private. From the moment I drove up, I knew I was in for an experience beyond my expectations. There was a beautiful, clean grill on the front porch and the house was situated on several acres of cleared land surrounded by woods. There was lots of stacked wood on the front porch for the wood-burning stove. The house was very neat and clean, and the kitchen had everything anyone could want or use in the way of appliances, gadgets, dishware and spices. She also had WiFi and satellite TV so I could control how much "outside" distraction I wanted. There were plenty of blankets to keep me warm at night. Michele was very respectful of my privacy so she would message me when she was coming over to drop off farm-fresh eggs or plow the driveway. The house rules were sensible, respectful for both parties and easy to follow. Michele told me about some scenic local places to hike and restaurants to go to. I also had the good sense to get a massage from Michele (in front of the wood-burning stove!), who is a licensed massage therapist with decades of experience, and it was well worth it!

It was quiet and beautiful for the winter weeks I stayed and I'm planning on coming back to enjoy all there is to do in the summer here as well. There are places to fish, swim and kayak - all my favorite summer things! This home in this part of the Adirondacks is amazing!!! Do yourself a favor and stay here.
