WE ARE PET LOVERS SO WE ARE PET FRIENDLY
Our family lives on busy Long Island which affords us wonderful waterfront and beaches. We have extended family in PA and wanted our own piece of paradise nearby so we ventured out in 2003 and bought this warm, charming, country home. It was love at first sight!
Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2003
When looking for a vacation rental I wanted something my own family would enjoy too. I wanted a country feel in the woods to get us away from our hectic lives. This home is 10 miles off Route 80 at Exit 284. It's just 110 miles from NYC. It was in the perfect location. Extremely private, easy to get to, only a few hours drive and plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. I hope your family loves this home as much as mine does.
The family room is my paradise. There are 15 floor to ceiling windows for a panoramic view of the woods. This is where you'll see wild life grazing or just passing through. You'll see for yourself if you join us!
We love Pensi Place so much and had made up our minds before we left last year that we were coming back for another week this year. We were glad we did! Plenty of mountain laurel, white pine and tall oak trees surround this home and make it a peaceful and relaxing retreat. Morning coffee or tea on the front deck is the perfect way to start your day! The home is clean and very well maintained. A well stocked kitchen plus abundant accommodations make you feel at home. Catherine is wonderful to work with and always responds quickly to our questions and concerns. You see her pride in ownership everywhere! Needless to say, we will definitely be back again!
At first sight, the cabin in the woods is such a pleasant place to retreat - it's quite, peaceful, secluded and relaxing. The house was well kept, clean and very spacious. The kitchen has all the appliances and amenities for cooking. Love the covered patio with the grill for a nice cookout, perfect for hotdogs, burgers, steak and pork chops, BBQs and a matching glass of wine or cold beer. The fire pit at the back is a magical place at night where you can share your family stories while grilling some smores and hotdogs, and watching the stars.
My mom and dad really enjoyed cooking and relaxing at the cabin. Whereas me, my wife, our 2 boys and my brother have a blast doing Zipline at Skytop, Pocono Whitewater rafting, Bike Train at the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, and watching a concert at Penn's Peak. We all love visiting the old town of Jim Thorpe as well. Most activities are just a short drive away.
It is truly a home away from home - simply an amazing stay!!! Even our dog, Kelly, enjoyed her stay..... :)
Catherine was so nice and helpful. She responded quickly on our concerns and questions and very accommodating. It was really pleasant working with her. Love her organization and detailed instructions.
Surely, we will be back!
Our family of five adults and two kids had a great long weekend here. It is very quiet and peaceful. The property is covered with moss and (during our stay) flowering mountain laurel, and the kids thought it was magical. We loved the idyllic surroundings, the fire pit, the grill, the ample kitchen, and having lots of space to spread out. The nearby town of Jim Thorpe is charming and there were more activities around than we had time for.
The two bedrooms were comfortable. For me, sleeping in the day room, I would have preferred curtains on the glass doors for privacy, though I understand that the open-ness adds a lot of charm and is part of the overall look of this house in the country.
We appreciated having a washer and dryer. Catherine was available to answer questions and quite friendly. Thanks for a terrific stay!
I wanted to take my 83-year-old father and a close family friend on a fishing trip. I must have looked at about 100 places before finding this wonderful property, which is conveniently located to so many things.... fishing lakes, Jim Thorpe, beautiful scenery, restaurants, etc.
The house itself was perfect for our needs. Clean, comfortable and roomy. Extremely easy to navigate for my elderly father, and plenty of room for the three of us to knock around in general. And the grounds are beautiful, too. Just an idyllic setting.
Because this trip came about at the last minute, it was important that I reach the property manager, or in this case the owner - Catherine -- to field my questions and to put my mind at ease that this was the right property for us, especially given the needs of my father. Well, Catherine couldn't be easier to work with, as she was extremely responsive and took the time necessary to make me feel as comfortable as possible. All of my questions were answered and, in no time, I had booked the property for three nights. Turned out to be a wonderful decision!
I could go on, but I'm not sure how much more I could add that would be new, given the fact that, out of 78 prior reviews, the property received 4.9 stars out of 5. I think that pretty much says it all.
Can't wait to return!!!
We were 6 men gathering for biking weekend in Jim Thorpe. The house was wonderfully situated. Spacious. Plenty of room for everyone. Would recommend this house, very highly.
The property is in a secluded area, which was perfect for us. We wanted a home that was surrounded by woods. The house was spacious and allowed for personal space. There was ample cooking utensils and the kitchen was spacious. The house was far enough way to allow for privacy, but close to eating establishments. It was a pet friendly environment. The owner was accessible and was willing to work with us.
