About this property

Pet-Friendly Cathedral-Ceiling Pine Interior Home 4 Miles From Town, 1 From ANP

The sweet little house is a beautiful 1600 square foot 2 bedroom, 1.75 bath cathedral-ceiling, pine interior house, located in Hulls Cove. It is located on the main road to Bar Harbor, but set well back from the road on a huge meadow, so although there is no fenced yard, it is perfect for friendly and well-behaved pups!

The master bedroom has a king bed, and is up a spiral staircase in a loft, with a 1.75 bath. The second bedroom is downstairs located off the kitchen/living room/dining room, and has a queen bed. The full bath is also downstairs. The house has an open floor plan, with a fully-stocked kitchen (and of course, a lobster pot and lobster-eating essentials!), washer/dryer, TV (DVR and HBO), BBQ grill, wrap around deck, and outdoor seating on the deck and the lawn. There is a hammock to lounge in while you enjoy the Maine afternoon breeze. During late-July and August, there are blueberries in the meadow that you can eat off the bush, and small wild strawberries, if you look for them! There is also a garage apartment rented by my dear friends who are not affiliated with the management of the rental, but are wonderful, welcoming people.

If you want to wander around Acadia, there is a park entrance with carriage trails a mile away, and if you prefer to catch a boat ride or a whale watch, town and the pier are ~4 miles away. There is only one sand beach on the Island, and it's about 15 minutes away, but there is a beautiful pebble beach about 1/2 mile away, which is a spectacular place to watch the sun or the moon rise.

I hope I get the opportunity to share my home with you!

Our house in the woods
We loved staying at Sasha’s. Our location we just the perfect distance to get away from the crowds at Bar Harbor. The cottage was roomy with beautiful views of nature changing its colors. After long days of hiking and biking we always looked forward to settling into Sasha’s cozy home. If a return trip would be planned for Acadia we definitely would stay here again. And Sasha was always available if we had questions or needed something. Thanks Sasha for making our trip a good one.

First time in Maine
This lovely cabin was a true home away from home. We were within minutes of Bar Harbor and Acadia. After exploring, we were able to comfortably relax in this home. Thanks so much for sharing your home with my family.

About the host

I grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and moved to Maine in 2003 with my good friend and now-ex-husband (who is a Bar Harbor local) to pursue a career as a marine biologist. I fell in love with the house the moment I laid eyes on it! Since buying the house, I have worked primarily in Alaska, and now live in Colorado, but travel back to stay in my little home as often as possible! I have three dogs, an Australian kelpie and two Australian cattle dogs, so the house is very dog friendly! In 2013, we began fostering Australian cattle dogs through the Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association. We fostered 16 dogs, including a mom and her 9 3.5-week-old pups, one of which being our resident property-greeter, Kebo (named after Bar Harbor's historic golf course). If you notice the chewed trim in the guest room, you can thank Kebo and his brothers and sisters for that. I love my little home on the island, and hope you will too!

Why they chose this property

My friend Matt grew up in Bar Harbor, and quickly showed me everything there is to love about the area. I lived there for two years before deciding to settle there. The bustle of the town during the summer, followed by the quietude of the winter make it a perfect little haven.

I lucked out with the location of my home. It is located close to town, the ocean, and Acadia National Park, and less than a mile from Pirate's Cove Mini Golf, but are also off the main road enough that it is a quiet and peaceful location. The back yard is a huge meadow full of wildflowers and blueberries, sunrises and sunsets, lightening bugs, birds (including some resident barred owls that tend to roost on our trees and call throughout the summer, hummingbirds, and lots of songbirds), and deer, and a perfect shaded area to relax in the hammock or BBQ on the deck.

What makes this property unique

I bought my house because I walked in and instantly fell in love. It's a very easy place to fall in love with. The floor plan and the beautiful pine interior, plus the vast meadow in the back, complete with blueberries, wildflowers, painted sunsets and starry skies made the place a little piece of heaven.
