Not as good as the pictures or what I expected

Hard to get luggage etc. in and out. You have to park on the road and go downhill to the entrance then through the bottom level and up a flight of stairs to get to the main floor. We had a family member come on saturday, we were celebrating our 30th aniversary, he brouht his dog and we went out for dinner to celebrate and he tied his dog outside the home. We were gone 30 minutes when we got a call from the owner saying the neibors were complaining about the dog barking. I told her that we had just ordered dinner and we would be right back as soon as we were done. She said that was not good enough we had to go back right now. My son went back to the house and picked up his dog and drove back home that night which was a 4 hour drive. This upset what started out to be a very special occassion for us and the rest of our family. When my son went back to pick up his dog there were 2 nasty notes left on our vehicle and the front door with very foul language. There are dogs all over that neighborhood and we could here them barking all night. We spent our honeymoon in Grand Lake and have gone back there every year for our aniversary. We are considering not going back.

Great location and layout for family vacation.

Great cabin for a large group of people. We enjoyed the porch and the firepit as a family. It was a convenient location to do a lot of different things in Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had such a wonder stay at Megan's cabin. She was so accommodating and had a list of places to try in town. The cabin was beautiful with all the snow but there was more than enough firewood to keep us warm. We will definitely be booking again with her!

No Wifi. Lots of bedrooms. Nice neighborhood.

  • 2 of 5

The home has plenty of bedrooms/space. The neighborhood is nice and cozy. Many items within the home, not in the best shape. The telescope was practically knocked over by the wind on the deck -- but was previously broken. While the concept of no wifi doesn't appear in the description, our family made the assumption that it's just standard these days... NOT here. No Wifi nor access to wifi without driving into town. There's not a good family hang out area by the kitchen, but a nice large sofa with a tv (for DVDs) in the basement. Fun Game room as well. The checkout instructions provided are quite simple and pretty standard, but don't be deceived. The owner has quite the expectation that you'll do far beyond that and clean the place. (i.e. instructions state: please strip bed and put dirty linens on floor) well the expectation here is that you will actually sort the dirty linens into their appropriate piles. No where does it say wash off all WALLS and counters, but rather it only states to load dishwasher and start it. We've had to exchange many emails with the owner in attempt to receive our deposit back. I've stayed in MANY MANY VRBOs and while we had the space in this place and a good location it was lacking in many other areas. I will not stay here again.

Spacious house tucked into the trees. Beautiful Columbine lake neighbor hood.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful family time staying here. Megan was great to work with and always easy to get in touch with. The spiders had gotten a little ahead of the game in the higher places and on the outside of the house but we know how quickly they work! There was lots of wildlife which is one of our favorites. Moose in the neighborhood all the time and we saw a doe and her two fawns right on the path to the house.

The beds were all good with the exception of the mattress in the basement bedroom. Our grandkids loved the pool table and ping pong table!

It did not take but a couple hours to find out we'd been greatly mislead. My husband walked down to the office to see if we needed a fishing license or pay a fee inorder to fish on the private Columbine lake. He came back very disappointed. He was informed that since we were RENTERS and not the actual HOMEOWNER, we did not have access to the lake. He was told that the HOMEOWNERS of Columbine were very animate about encorcing this fact. Needless to say, here we sat with a house full of desire to upset the no access to desire to go anywhere, but what choice did we have? VERY DISAPPOINTING.

What we learned:

- no access to columbine lake so don't be fooled by that

- when you rent a boat on Shadow mt lake/Grand Lake, they are not insured for tubing or ski's... So you get the boat & that is it. We took our tubes and the kids enjoyed floating & having paddle races a ross the cove.

-They also informed us at shadow mt lake/Grand Lake the fishing had not been good for quite awhile now.. So we left the poles at the house.

-Will NOT be back. Though it can always be I gave two stars...we do not feel we received what we paid for. Certainly the most disappointing trip we have ever taken.
