About Ryan and Robin
There are few things I enjoy more than floating down the Upper Kenai. I was lucky enough to spend the month of September fishing in Cooper Landing for about a decade before owning this property. For any guests that have not experienced the fall in Cooper Landing, I strongly recommend it.
Ryan and Robin purchased this House in 2011
Why Ryan and Robin chose Cooper Landing
There are many houses available for rent in Cooper Landing, but few have the river front privacy and fishing as the Bear Den. Sitting by a warm fire down by the river after a great day of exploring Alaska is one of our favorite features of the property. If the world class rainbow fishing was not enough, the upper river is one of the most beautiful places I have come across. The house sits across from the drift only marker on the Upper Kenai (No motors allowed). Just upstream from the property, the river begins to narrow and pick up current.
What makes this House unique
Rainbows and Dollies can be caught easily for most of the summer and fall. In late September and October the second run of Silver Salmon start to stack up behind the house. In March and April the property is home to a concentration of bald eagles that are feasting on spawning silver salmon creating some fantastic photo opportunities.

Sparkling clean and beautiful. The house, the property, and the little town of cooper landing was fantastic. The Kenai River in the backyard was a sight to wake up to every day and even though I am not one to write reviews I want folks to know that if you’re on the fence about renting this house for your Alaskan vacation , don’t be. Book this and enjoy!!
Perfect location for exploring southern Alaska
This house was as described. Beautiful waterfront property. Location was perfect for exploring Cooper's Landing, Homer and Seward areas. Manager was responsive immediately to any question we had. Will stay here again if we ever have the opportunity to come back to Alaska.
This property is in an ideal location for those wanting to fish!
Beautiful setting and a property manager who’s great to work with and always available.
We love the Bear Den!
The Kenai peninsula offers amazing outdoor activities. The Bear Den is perfectly located for all we wanted to do. The kitchen is wonderful and the beds offer a luxurious night’s rest. Property manager Stefanie is professional and helpful, and was only a text away. We went hiking (Skilak Lake, Carson Lake), did a river float with Drifter’s (Stefanie arranged this and it was beautiful), fishing off the bank for Dolly Vardin, wildlife/ glacier tour out of Seward., wildlife viewing— there’s an eagle pair that hang out right there! Great local restaurants, even a new local brewery added to the quality time we had. We hope to be back there next year, and the Bear Den will be the first place we’d want to book.
Great place to relax and enjoy the river with family. Nice midpoint to Soldotna and Seward for a variety of fishing options or stay and fish the Kenai or nearby Russian River. The interior was clean, a great floorplan, and lovely furnishings that had a comfortable feel. The deck with BBQ was a plus, and the fire pit with logs to sit on was a delightful place to enjoy the outdoors on the river. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful location on the beautiful Kenai River.
Beautiful Riverfront Property
We stayed at the Bear Den with another couple and it was perfect for us. On our first day at the house the guys, avid flyfishers fished directly in front of the property. The setting is beautiful. The house well equipped and comfortable. The bonus was meeting the owners Robin and Ryan who were staying at their other property right next door. They are updating that house this winter... I can see renting both houses with friends/family.
