About Amy Underwood

We're the Underwood's. David, Amy, Jean and Lynn. We live in Tidewater, Virginia and have been vacationing in the Outer Banks since 1966 - it's one of our favorite places on earth!

Why Amy Underwood chose Outer Banks

The South Nags Head area has always been a favorite. The laid-back atmosphere laced with history and boasting a couple of iconic piers make it a wonderful location. And of course - you can't beat the easy access to the beach!

What makes this cottage unique

Stay in a cottage with the charms of Old Nags Head. Great proximity to the beach, local attractions, fantastic caretakers - Mike and Lisa!

Guestbook comments from the manager

This was lovely little cottage, perfect for a couple or a small family. The location was perfect and had easy access to the beach and restaurants. It was very well maintained with all the amenities of home.

Very quaint and felt like home

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was a great place to stay. You could walk tot he beach in minutes and it was close to a variety of stores and things to do. At night it was quiet and comfortable. Definitely a great place to stay and the owner was friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this place.

Pet friendly cozy stay

  • 5 of 5

This cottage provided us exactly what we needed: a small cozy place to rest with our furkid that was close to the beach and close to everything. Bed was extremely comfortable. Kitchen had everything needed to cook. Bathroom came with a roll of TP and enough towels. I would highly recommend this place if a couple staying in the area.

Perfect Cottage for two

  • 5 of 5

Very nice cottage for two. Close to the beach and within walking distance of everything we needed. Would stay again if our travels bring us back to Nags Head. We usually stay in Avon, but didn't want to go that far this time.

A Peaceful Haven That Felt Like Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was for 5 days in this adorable cottage. Just walking in... it's decor and ambience is just homey and sweet. It was just beautiful. Instead of having to walk through a maze of hallways and going up elevators in a cookie cutter motel/hotel, we could just park in a convenient spot right by our cottage which was right across the street from the beach. The cottage also has this quaint porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the breeze. Having everything we needed supplied for us was amazing. I didn't have to bring any cooking ware for the kitchen. I think that some of the pans and utensils supplied were nicer than ones I own (lol). If we needed anything Amy was only a phone call or text away. I also was able to meet Amy's parents as the caretakers and they were the sweetest couple. It was just another great memory from the trip to talk with them. I highly recommend staying at Kemp & Olive or even Tandem Cottage which we were blessed to walk through right next door to our cottage. You will have a wonderful time filled with memories and having the feeling of home while you are there.

Perfect weekend in a great cottage!

  • 4 of 5

This was a last minute booking for me and I'm honestly hesitant to write much here. Not because this was a bad stay or a bad owner, there is nothing I can really say negative. This is like finding a secret spot and selfishly trying to keep it so! If you are hovering over "Book Now" - DO IT. If not, you are going to miss out on the best recharge week/weekend you've had in a long time. As a lifelong trekker to the OBX I can tell you the owners have put a lot of thought into "your stay". The cottage is well appointed, tastefully decorated, conveniently located and if you dont spend a night outside on the porch you have short changed yourself. Thanks again for a great time and helping us hit the "reset button".

Charming, pretty and comfy!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay. It was clean, comfortable & had a lovely decor. It was big enough for us and our puppy to spend some quality time together. We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary & were greeted with a bottle of champagne & a lovely note from the caretakers & owners when we entered the cottage. Our puppy had a blast looking out the window from the back of the couch & the side window from the chair. She "woofed" her approval. We hoe to stay again in the future when time permits. Thank you!
