The Ashley tree house has an open floor plan. The main living level includes the front deck, kitchen, living, bath, dining and a generous sleeping room with door and private exterior balcony. The loft, open from the floor below, has two separate sleeping areas. These open onto an upper balcony. The open plan is arranged to provide visual privacy for the sleeping areas. There is an exterior shower and gas grill area.
For large family events, the adjoining property will accommodate an additional 6 quests. Please refer to listing 4360855 " Ashley Sea House"
After 28 years, Cyn has retired from a teaching career. I am involved with the South Carolina Master Naturalist program, Yoga and Nia.
Den, an architect, continues to design and build projects. Ashley's tree house is one of my best projects. Cyn and I hand cleared the property and then spent a year building this magical place.

We were driving down Cooper street and noticed an almost failing down, loosely nailed " for sale" sign. The property, looking thru the dense jungle growth, had major oak and palms trees. It seemed that this property had never been cleared. We fell in love with the possibility of living in this beautiful setting.
Designing and then building one's own tree house retreat is truly a joyous adventure. We did not want to build a house at a beach but rather a beach house. Our family and friends enjoy the openness, the unexpected sculpture of the spaces. The morning view from the upstairs sleeping loft into the curved oak limbs in a treat and great way to start the day. One morning there was a raccoon in that tree looking back at us!
We had a wonderful time staying at the treehouse. The place is just amazing! The location is fabulous, a short 1/2 block from the ocean, and right by the downtown area so you never have to deal with parking. The place itself has everything you need for your stay and is beautiful! We loved the deck and sat out there every morning and evening, and even ate most dinners outside. Our kids loved the upstairs loft and had lots of fun writing and coloring while sitting on the catwalk. We look forward to returning!
This home was so charming and convenient - it has everything you'll need and a layout that affords just the right amount of privacy while enjoying time with your family. We were steps from the beach, tons of restaurants, coffee - you name it. Our kids loved having their own balcony and we appreciated being able to open windows and a sliding glass door to listen to the ocean at night off the first floor master. The owners were kind and helpful. I'm not sure the community is quite as bike friendly as it once was, but the home is in such a great location you won't need them to get to places.

Superb location! Walk to food and beach! Awesome build! Everything you need for a fabulous vacation! Owners are very friendly, helpful and informative!! Must try Lost Dog during your stay! Close enough to Charleston for a pleasant day trip. Awesome upstairs balcony for chilling and enjoying the sound of the ocean. Outdoor shower, beach chairs and cart provided!

Great stay, great owners. House is unique, very well done, and two blocks from Center Street. So close to the ocean you can hear the waves. We'll be back.
An early morning walk through the old coast guard station to watch the sunrise at Morris lighthouse is a great way to start a day. Then a short car trip to Bowens Island to eat shrimp and oysters, drink and watch the sunset over the marsh is a spectacular ending.
