Overview

Photos and Description of this Huddleston holiday cottage

4 Bedroom Cottage Tucked In The Forest On A Private Cove. Sleeps 4

The LaSota Cottage offers flexible accommodations for up to four people. Located at the end of a cove and surrounded by woods, the house offers a quiet location far from boat noise on the lake.

The water depth below the private dock is six feet and includes space to moor your boat. Bringing your boat into the dock requires some gentle maneuvering, but once you have pulled up, your boat is protected from the wakes of passing boats. On the other side of the dock is a, safe swimming area at end of the cove.

The primary living space on the main floor includes three bedrooms (queen, full and bunk beds) and a full bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen is open to the living room and dining area, and the large deck with views of the lake and forest. Cable TV service is available on all the televisions in the home, including the flat-screen TV in the living room, TVs in three of the bedrooms and the TV in the lower level family room.

The lower level is accessed via a separate exterior entrance and is a great place for kids to get away to play foosball and table hockey, or to relax in front of the television. The lower level has a galley kitchen, laundry facilities, a bathroom with a shower, and a bedroom with a queen bed.

nice place

  • 4 of 5

The house is nice, deck lovely and dock is very well situated for a bass boat or other under 20 feet. Electric outlet on the dock is handy, but may need a 25 foot extension cord to reach the back of a boat unless back into the dock - fortunately I had one with me. The marina just over on the next major cove has a decent boat ramp for $5 charge to go and another $5 out. Beds are good and bedrooms sufficient with some storage space. No hangers in closets, so bring if need. Bathrooms fine, even have nice extra heat and good exhaust, but be sure to bring soap and shampoo. Living space is comfortable. Kitchen is bit shy of cooking things, like kitchen-sized tongs and not as many pots as some might want, but it is satisfactory. Glass-top stove is good for that type, which is so-so for cooking but easy to keep clean. Supposed to be wifi, and there was but could not locate code for it, but for me not a problem as I carry my own mifi. But most may want to ask for the code before renting this place. Linens we rented were there and beds made and plenty of nice fresh towels. Place was clean. No outside trash pail so when cleaned fish had no place to put the remains and sure did not want to keep them inside stinking the place up.

Only major issue was the circular driveway to the house had a huge tree down just past the front of the house. It made it a bit tough with the boat and trailer to get out of there. Clearly the tree was down for a short time but someone had put some soil bags on the roots like they were planning to fill the hole with it once the tree was cut up. Apparently no one had any sense of urgency to get it done. Major inconvenience.

But this place is really nice and I recommend it. Even has a fire pit outside for fireside chats in the evening, if one wants. Generally well cared for property that has nice features.

The lake has some good fish, especially stripers and smallmouth bass (got one huge smallmouth in the mouth of the cove the house is in). But the clear, deep lake is challenging fishing, or at least it was for us. Fish tended not to be in coves or along banks, but were 25 to 80 feet deep. For those who may not have fished a clear, deep lake before using a guide, such as the one at Captains Cove (about 15-20 minute drive from the house) might be a way to learn the techniques for fishing. We called them but guess the guide was tied up and never got a call back. We understand he is the top guide on the lake

Lovely Lake House

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay at the lake house. It's small, but in a cozy way, and you can't beat the peace and quiet of the cove. The property managers were quick to answer questions and couldn't have made our stay any better!

Loved it

  • 5 of 5

Very enjoyable stay, we went off season so it was very quiet and relaxing. The only restaurant open close via boat was Heaths restaurant, good food. We mainly booked here because it was pet friendly and you couldn't tell that other dogs had been there, no odors. Rented pet friendly boat from Bridgewater. Loved the kitchen and bathroom updates. There is a fire pit near the house with fire wood and chairs set up around it. Horseshoes, paddle boats, boat dock, plenty to do. Downstairs is set up for more guests, loved that bonus with game tables and its own bathroom & kitchen, we would love to bring our grown children with us next year.

Very quiet and well appointed, perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a summer week with our 2 dogs. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing area and this was it. The property manager answered all my questions leading up to our stay. He was there to replace an umbrella which was damaged prior to our arrival. The house was exactly as pictured and no surprises. I forgot my favorite pan and it was returned to me immediately. We were very happy with our experience.
