About Cathy McCormick & Matthew Andrejczak

The last thing our Dad did was to be an extra in a movie called "Lake Effects" with Jane Seymour and filmed entirely at Smith Mountain Lake. He was so proud to be a part of it and it's very fitting that we say welcome to our "Lake Effects".

My brother and I wish to continue what our mom and dad had so longed to do with their house and have everyone visit for years to come.

The home is a beautiful 3 story, 3 bedroom, 3500 square foot lake front home that overlooks the Smith Mountain Lake State Park from the double deck dock.

Cathy McCormick & Matthew Andrejczak purchased this house in 2004

Why Cathy McCormick & Matthew Andrejczak chose Smith Mountain Lake

You will find no other place like it. We have had so many wonderful times here with both family and friends. With beautiful lake views and a very large, private cove that overlooks the State Park. Why not come to our home and start creating your annual memories for your family too!

Great family memories!

  • 5 of 5

First of all I must thank Cathy for her hospitality and sharing her beautiful family home with my family.

The home is in a very nice well-kept neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac. As you approach you see the sunlight glistening off the huge Cove and the beauty that Smith Mountain Lake delivers. The house is to the left hidden behind a trove of large Pines. When the house appears it is unimposing and very quaint. Of course the first thing you do is find the key because you have to pee! Ha

After the 7 of us took care of business, found our rooms, the kids wanted to go in the water... we grabbed our stuff and bound down to the dock. That is the moment when you turn and look at the house and are amazed at how huge it is and beautiful. We actually said wow that is awesome!

Off to the dock. It is clean has an upper deck and a floating dock with the ladder. The water is shallow right off the floating deck about chest deep on a 5'7" person. Do not jump from the upper deck! It was so warm and the neighbors were out feeding the ducks. They were very friendly.

There are many coves at SML and I must say this is definitely not one of the little fingerling coves. The house is situated on a very large cove with no traffic. We could swim out rather far, way above our heads, with no concern of boat traffic. It was great.

As for the house... There was Wi-Fi, TVs, Wii, pool table, foosball table, every imaginable board game that you could think of or did not know existed is in this house! Do not bring games. I travel with my favorite pillow so I cannot comment on that but the beds were very comfortable. The king size master bed was a cloud of dreams.

The kitchen. Wine opener - don't bring, heart shaped Barbie cereal bowl - it's there, coffee mugs, regular coffee pot with reusable filter, Keurig with a coffee filter, pasta bowls, mixing bowls, cast-iron frypan, non stick pan, microwave, two ovens, two garbage disposals, two sinks, basically do not bring anything for the kitchen.

The yard is well-maintained, nice and flat. Gradual flat slop to the dock and left of the house appears to be a half an acre of open flat green space. We played can-jam, soccer, just had a great time.

Cathy was in touch before we arrived, during to make sure we got in OK, and afterwards. Very attentive and wanted to ensure satisfaction.

Highly recommend. Excellent central location to traverse anywhere on the lake.

Beautiful home - very peaceful and private location

  • 5 of 5

This home was just what our family needed. Very spacious with natural lighting throughout, and our kids were each able to have an entire floor to themselves with their own bathroom. The bed in the master suite was incredibly comfortable -- more so than our bed at home! What we loved the most was the dock location. It felt very private, with only the State Park directly across from us, a natural area with lots of birds to our left, and just a quiet couple who rarely visited the dock to our right.

The only thing that would have made it even better is if there were a floating dock to tie our boat up to vs. just the fixed dock (since the water levels can change dramatically), and a picnic table at the dock to make it easier to have meals there or just hang out.

Great property!

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for our stay. The house was just as described. It's a very nice home that is bright, roomy, and well stocked with anything you might need. The game/TV room in the basement was wonderful, I only wish I'd been able to spend more time there. The bedrooms are big and the bathrooms are very nice. There is a nice computer desk off of the kitchen that came in very handy as my wife had to get some work done while we were on our trip.

The screened in porch was perfect. We ate out there for most meals, and it was a relaxing place to read a book into the nighttime hours.

The dock worked perfectly for us. We rented a boat and had no problems docking the boat or finding the property from the water.

The location of the home is nice as it sits in a culdesac and has a large yard. There is a small convenience type store less than 10 minutes away and full size grocery stores and restaurants are about 15-20 minutes away. The state park is just a few minutes away and is a great place for swimming, relaxing, and walking.

We would definitely stay at this property again if we make it back to Smith Mountain Lake.

The house is well laid out for multi generational families, kitchen had everything needed.

  • 5 of 5

The house is light and airy with lots of space for families. The kitchen had everything one could hope for in terms of plenty of dishes, glassware, utensils, pots and pans. It was also very clean. Access to the lake is easy and the dock was great for swimming and fishing.

A true paradise away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this personal oasis over Thanksgiving 2014. The owner has thought of everything. We had linens, towel and bath cloths, all the kitchen essentials (plus…), extensive “owner’s book” detailing everything in the area (restaurants, shopping, wineries, emergency numbers, the well known Sunken City Brewery, etc.), even a bottle of wine upon our arrival. For a family of 4, we had more than enough room, and would loved to have had our neighbors across the street down with us…there would still have been plenty of room for all 7 of us! The views from the house and double-deck boat dock are breath taking. The house, yard, dock were all very well maintained and clean. Everything the owner described was exactly the way we saw it. Plus, she was very responsive to our questions...responding normally within minutes or hours. We played bocci ball in the front and back yards, and there was enough room for two separate games to be played in the same yard (huge front yard, deep backyard, out to the boat dock). We never ran out of things to do, inside or outside, as there were board games, pool table, foosball table, Wii, and Apple TV to keep us entertained. We loved the fact the house sat on a culdesac and we weren’t just another house/boat deck along the shore…we felt like we had some privacy. The Bridgewater Plaza was a 15-min drive (6-9 mins in a boat) and it was an incredible place for the whole family to hang out…restaurants, shopping, putt-putt, concerts, etc…it was so much fun and you could spend a whole day out there—but, you would be missing the little piece of paradise you are staying in!! This house was well worth the money and we will definitely be back…and, we will bring our friends along since the owner allows up to 8 people to stay. This property is HIGHLY recommended!
