This Farmhouse was built nearby and lifted onto it's foundation by field workers. The property was once home to Speaker of the House Thomas Hunter Lowe. Jane Lowe Estate Farmhouse has been restored and ready to be shared. You sleep, eat and relax feet from Harris Creek. We can't wait for you to participate in a slice of true relaxation. Rain or shine there are many things to do.
JANE LOWE ESTATE, SURROUNDED BY FARM LAND AND WATER, INCLUDES A EXPANSIVE POOL, DOCK, BEACH, FARM HOUSE AND RENOVATED BARN WHICH is available for rental.
The Farmhouse has all new appliances and the charming setting by the bay. Feel free to fish for perch or rock fish right from the property. The master suite and living room have flat screen tv's with DISH SATELLITE, AND WI-FI. Downtown St. Michael's and all of it's attractions are very close. If you need help with recommendations or things to do feel free to ask. The pool is naturally warm due to the proximity to the water.
We have been visitors and renters for the past few years and fully understand what you expect. This is a special ESTATE and we would be honored to play host!
My sister and I purchased these two adjacent properties that were once owned by a single family. We have put our blood, sweat and tears into the restoration and want to share what we consider a special place.
Ryan Perlberg purchased this farmhouse in 2015
This property was going to be torn down with a mansion in its place and we didn't love the idea of that. There is rich history and you will never want to leave. One sunset is all it takes.
There is a water view from almost every room. The property was well built and we find ourselves spending much of our time relaxing with family outside on the grounds.
Great respite away from the bustle of the city. Tranquil setting with amazing views and even more amazing moon lit views by the docks.
My husband and I came from CA to spend a few days with our daughter and family from MA. Our two grandsons (8 & 3) had a great time fishing, crabbing, playing football and running around the large yard. The kitchen was well equipped and we spent a lot of time at the large table eating and playing games. The library is filled with old and interesting books which we all enjoyed. The whole experience was like visiting a museum without the "Do Not Touch" signs!
We enjoyed staying at the home. We caught crabs and fish from the pier. We enjoyed using the kayaks that were provided. We saw many varieties of water fowl and other wildlife. I would suggest getting window coverings for the master bathroom and bedroom.
We planned our trip to this house with the intention of having solid family time together. And the house certainly does provide all of the space and recreation to make this possible. The pool is stunning. It overlooks the bay, the water is perfectly warm and it is actually huge. Our kids never got sick of the pool. The kitchen is also gorgeous and really makes you want to hunker down and cook and eat together.
The master bedroom is an amazing size with a cozy little guest room right off it. With the windows open, the bay breezes make for perfect napping and sleeping weather.
The house is about 15 minutes from St. Michaels, which felt kind of far if you are interested in food shopping, going out to eat or just getting ice cream. We weren't quite prepared for just how far this house is from any commerce. In retrospect, it was very nice to have the isolation, but we weren't totally prepared for it.
These are the drawbacks of the house: you are really in nature. This is a pro and a con. We rescued so many frogs from the pool and this totally thrilled our kids! There are deer everywhere and the crickets sound incredible. But there are ants in the kitchen and bathrooms and it was hard to ever fully relax in either space. We kept all of our food in the refrigerator to protect it. The bathrooms also need updating. For the price of the rental, there is not a lot of luxury outside of the land itself. The bathrooms, having some luxury, would change the experience a lot.
Furthermore, we had no idea that you couldn't swim in the Chesapeake Bay. Perhaps this is common knowledge, but we didn't know it and we were left with only the pool to swim in. The pool, like I said, is delicious. But, the jellyfish and crabs make the bay unusable for swimmers. It was wonderful to kayak, but falling out of the kayak led to a crab bite.
All this said, if you are into s'mores, stunning surroundings and sunsets, this place will reward you in spades!
We spent a long weekend at the Farmhouse and could not have asked for anything better. Our three kids (14,12, and 11) had plenty to do with kayaking, walks, exploring St Michaels and beyond and just hanging out on the beautiful property. We were a little early for the pool, which we have talked about going back for because it's absolutely beautiful, but the kayaks were awesome...the osprey couple had just returned for the year and were rebuilding their nest, we saw baby turtles swimming in the cove and crawfish..along with some bald eagles on our way into town. There's plenty of lawn for a soccer ball and lacrosse practice, along with horseshoes provided. We meant to do bike rentals (many will deliver to the house) but just didn't get around to it....next time!
The house is clean and comfortable...everyone had a good night's sleep each night in the comfy beds. Awesome living room with a beautiful piano that we loved listening to with the fire glowing. We can't say enough about the wonderful huge kitchen...we spent much of out time in there in front of the fireplace and playing board games. I also enjoyed the back porch...what a view in the early morning when everything is so quiet! Lots of good books floating around too.
Ryan and his brother in law Randy could not have been nicer, immediate responses and no concern was too small...he even sent up more board games because I happened to mention it in an email.
I would highly recommend this to any family looking for a spot to spend time together...but with enough going on in the area so there's not too much together time!
Three friends spent an amazing weekend at this quaint, homey farmhouse. Sipping coffee in the morning by the fire in the cozy kitchen, afternoons reading in the sunroom, amazing sunsets, evening conversations around yet another fireplace -- a historic home with all the modern conveniences. Water views from almost every room. Convenient to St. Micheal's and Eastern Shore communities. Our host Ryan could not have been more responsive and accommodating, and he went out of his way to ensure we had a good visit. We didn't want to leave!
We stayed two nights over Christmas weekend and enjoyed the farm house as a quiet, quaint getaway. Beautiful water views from almost every window. The house is spotless and very comfortable. Great master suite and large country kitchen. The sunroom was the biggest draw. Even got to enjoy the kayaks. Love the peaceful country walks. The family renting the barn next door had a dog that played with ours in the adjacent fields. Ryan the owner was very helpful and responsive. We will definitely go back.
