Carla Giacomangeli purchased this farmhouse in 2005

Why Carla Giacomangeli chose Shenandoah Valley

We choose Blue Hill because we feel in love with the house and the beautiful country setting - you can see the mountains and we are surrounded by 36 acres - 5 acres of fields and the rest is wooded and we are close to the Shenandoah River, Middleburg and Winchester. Blue Hill also offers us the opportunity to get away from the city but is close enough to DC that the the drive is relaxing and if we want to do something there are tons of options - so we can just relax and do nothing or we can plan a weekend of fun things to do!

What makes this farmhouse unique

Blue Hill is a unique home - the word comfy and inviting is the word most often used to describe what guests love about Blue Hill.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Peaceful and beautiful spot for our 10th Anniversary! We enjoyed the birds and just being outside :).

The Farm market was a lot of fun too! Thank you for including the brochures!

Fantastic home and property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Blue Hill for a 5 day long weekend over the 4th of July - it was just the 2 adults and our dog for the stay, so it was more house than we needed. The master bedroom was fantastic as well as the very large shower (we loved the river rock floor in the shower). We really enjoyed the hot tub outdoor seating. No matter what time of day, there was a shady spot to be found to enjoy nature. Our dog loved the large yard, he wore himself out playing frisbee while we were there. There are a LOT of wineries within 20-30 min of the house, many of which are dog friendly on their patios. We would definitely recommend this house for couples all the way up to multiple family get togethers.

Best Girl’s Weekend Ever!

  • 5 of 5

Right away we were impressed with this beautiful home! Driving up we loved it instantly! From the warm homey feel down to the fall decor on the porch we knew we were in for the most relaxing, fun weekend ever! All five of us had a wonderful girl’s weekend and the owner, Carla couldn’t have been nicer to work with! We laughed, ate, drank and honestly we didn’t want to leave! Being pet friendly was an added plus! My friend’s dog Harper had a great time, all 3 lbs. of her, and she didn’t have the added worry of boarding her. We loved the colorful decor and farm feel. If you want to get away to enjoy time with friends, family, whatever the occasion, this place is awesome! There’s wineries, breweries, hiking the beautiful countryside if you want, or you can just hang out and dance with friends on the porch...either way, you’ll have a fantastical time!

Beautiful country setting!

  • 5 of 5

We just had a wedding there this weekend and it was amazing. We had 65 people there for the actual event and with the size of the grounds and the way the house is situated there was plenty of room for everyone without being on top of each other. Mark the groundskeeper was there and helped keep me sane! Thanks for everything, it will be my go to place for any events in the future!

Great stay at Historic Mansion

  • 5 of 5

We made a last minute decision to stay at Blue Hill. Carla was very accomodating with this. She is highly organized and provided thoroughly detailed info. Blue Hill is a very large, 1895 historic home, yet very clean and comfortable. We brought our dog, and she enjoyed the fully fenced in area next to the patio and also liked watching the deer that visited in the front yard at dusk and dawn. We also loved looking at all the antiques throughout the house. It was located in a very safe, rural setting. We highly recommend Locke Store and Berryville Grille for take out. Thanks Carla for letting us stay at your lovely home!

Peaceful retreat, great for a group!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a girls weekend at Blue Hill to celebrate my 40th birthday. The house was very comfortable and we loved the large dining table and den where we could all sit together for meals and hang out time. I would definitely stay here again with a group - a great retreat from the city!
