About Jim and Carroll Grant

Jim and Carroll Grant are retired RN's who have settled in Maggie Valley after traveling throughout the United States and abroad. We could have lived anywhere, but chose the Maggie Valley area due to its great climate with four beautiful seasons, and the plethora of outdoor activities in the area. We love to hike, garden, take photos, and just enjoy the outdoors, and Maggie is the perfect setting for that. Carroll is a master gardener and does a lot of the landscape work for our rentals, and Jim is completing his first book which should be out by year end. We both enjoy meeting new people and the vacation rental business gives us a chance to share our little bit of heaven with other folks who enjoy a beautiful natural setting. We work hard to make our rentals a cut above everything else--all the way from the properties we purchase to the details which make them wonderful, relaxing retreats you won't find anywhere else. The French theme is evident in both our properties, bringing a bit of European flair to Maggie Valley!

Why Jim and Carroll Grant chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

Jim has also run his own real estate business for years until moving to Maggie Valley, and is very particular about any property he buys. It has to be in the perfect location (always a top real estate consideration), and have lots of charm which will be attractive to visitors.

We fell in love with Maison Ruisseau due to its beautiful setting on a private rushing creek, separate game pavilion, beautifully treed and landscaped lot, rustic charming interior, and perfect year round access location (this is a big deal for rentals!).

What makes this cabin unique

Year round rushing creek right off your deck (master also opens out to it), huge detached game room with wood stove, huge flat screen TVpool table, ping-pong top, foosball, darts and more. Cabin has interior walls of rustic cedar, a huge deck, hot tub, cable TV, wireless internet, and all the natural beauty you could ever hope to find, all in a peaceful, quiet, private setting that is easy to get to and convenient to everything!

Spring Break Getaway

  • 5 of 5

At the last minute we decided to go away for Spring Break and decided to come back to Maggie Valley. Jim was great to work with during the booking and was super nice and helpful when we arrived. The house was fantastic. We had plenty of room for the three of us (wife and I plus our 15 year old son) as well as the dog and cat. Kitchen was very nice and very well stocked. Loved the upstairs porch - great place to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee and just read or relax. Location was good - easy to get anywhere you needed in the MV/Waynesville area. At night, we would make use of the fire pit for amores and just hanging out as a family after a long day. Nice sized hot tub on front porch was also a nice plus on the cool nights. We will definitely stay here again on future visits to Maggie Valley.

Lovely and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Jim and Carroll were excellent hosts! They left explicit directions for great restaurants in the area. We enjoyed Pops, Buttered Biscuit, and Joey's for breakfast. Salsa's in Asheville was probably our favorite lunch. We love the "cabin" we stayed in and the pictures are very accurate. My favorite part was that we didn't have to use the a/c and could hear the flowing stream the entire time -- like a lullaby! The garage game room was fun too!

We were able to relax a lot and also visit Asheville to shop. Next time we will go into Waynesville. We also drove onto the Blue Ridge Parkway for a bit to see the mountains. The location is great for visiting busy places and coming back to enjoy the quiet. We will definitely return with our grandkids, next time!

Wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

Personally, I don't think the pictures do this place justice! It was lovely. The kids absolutely enjoyed the entertainment "garage". They opened the garage doors with the great breeze. The water that runs along the backside of the cabin was wonderful to hear when we were going to bed every night. We saw a very large elk just walking around in the front yard. It was beautiful. We went into Bryson city and went white water raftting and tubing. This is a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it!

Owner's Response: Glad you found plenty to do on your visit! That game room is great for all ages, and provides lots of entertainment without ever having to leave the property. Very cool that an elk wandered into the yard! That happens about once a month--so far I haven't been able to orchestrate a visit for each guest, unfortunately! And yes, the cabin is in a great spot to enjoy all of the great things western NC has to offer. The BRP is minutes away, as are the Smokies , rafting, railroads, fishing, name it. We really enjoy providing a nice place for our guests to have a great time. Thank you!

This rental delivered everything we anticipated and more. The property speaks for itself. The atmosphere is welcoming and serene. We slept so well during our stay with the soothing sound of the creek. We spent a lot of time in the game room and exploring the area. Jim even met us at the visitors center. He escorted us and showed how everything worked. He even recommended several activities for my family, which were all memorable. We definitely plan on returning. I have already recommended this rental to several co workers.

Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Awesome Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 7 wonderful days. Jim met us upon our arrival just to show us around and make sure we knew how everything worked. We enjoyed listening to the sounds of the creek while sitting on the porch. It is so relaxing and peaceful. We enjoyed soaks in the hot tub after days of walking and exploring the area. The game room was really nice and was a good way to unwind. This home was very clean and well equipped. Thanks so much Jim and Carroll for sharing this little slice of paradise with us and we will let all of our family and friends know of this little gem.

Wonderfully Relaxing Cabin Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this delightful cabin for 5 days over spring break. We hiked every day in Smokys and used the hot tub, and recreation room at night. We were very comfortable (three of us: myself, my spouse and our 17 year old son) in the the two bedroom/two bath cabin. Every morning we drank our coffee while sitting on the back porch swing and then we walked our dogs down the road to the bridge. We did not use the fire pit but we would have if we had a few more days. All in all this was a great stay and we would love to stay here again when we travel to the area.
