About June Creamer

I grew up in Maine residing for the first few years of my youth at a lobster pound that my father and uncle operated in Sorrento. My siblings and I spent many hours on the surrounding rocky beach areas exploring tide pools at low tide and developing a love and appreciation for the ocean. The family moved to Mt Desert island in the late 1960's and my father established a business in downtown Bar Harbor. I grew up on the island and spent many of my adult years working at that family business before it was sold in 2000. Though I no longer live in Maine, I am drawn back to the ocean and the unique beauty of Acadia National Park several times a year. I really enjoy having the opportunity to host other visitor's trips to this beautiful region by providing both quality lodgings and information based on my personal knowledge of the area.

June Creamer purchased this cottage in 2015

Why June Creamer chose Downeast and Acadia

Upon first seeing this property, I was taken with its bright and cheery personality--wonderful qualities for a vacation home. Its location and quality are comparable to my other property and will be an option for those who are looking for facilities that are nearby for larger parties or several families traveling together who want separate accommodations.Or, for those who periodically ask if we have any other properties comparable to when it isn't available.

Being from this area and having worked in downtown Bar Harbor for many years, I appreciate the appeal of having a restful atmosphere to return to after a day of hectic activity in order to rejuvenate for the next day's excursions. This is the type of home and location that I personally would choose for a visit to this region.

What makes this cottage unique

In addition to being close to Mt Desert Island, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and the other island communities, this property is also equidistant to Ellsworth where the superior grocery shopping is to be found. For those interested in seafood, there are a number of lobster pounds to be found on Rt. 3 just 5 minutes from the cottage. Though the ocean is not visible through the woods from the property, it is actually only about 1,000 feet from the shoreline. Just a few feet down the street is an open field with a view of Western Bay and the "mountains" of Acadia National Park, indicating the cottage's proximity to the ocean.

Beautiful and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We have Stayed here two times now, It is set back on a property that is nowhere near a busy road. The property itself is surrounded by trees, and you can hear water but not see it. June, the owner is very accommodating, and has most everything you could need for your stay. When you walk in you are greeted with a tot bag of goodies. There are baking mixes, Jams, jellies, and wine. It is close to Mt. Dessert Island so a Short drive (short for Maine), and you are in Acadia national park, Bar Harbor, or any other scenic destination Mt. Dessert has to Offer. The Cottage was clean, and well maintained the appliances all look new or repetitively new. On this visit there was an issue caused by the previous tenets, but June called her person in charge of maintaining the property and she came out within a hours. All in all this is a great place to stay. I would recommend this to friends and family. In addition I will be booking here again in the future.

Hope your stay it just a great as ours.

OAK POINT COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5

I think I speak for the five of us who shared this lovely retreat. Everything was better than the pictures. We especially loved the screened porch--I even took a little snooze out there. Thank you for making this available for VRBO. We have stayed in many and yours was one of

the top rated. Also, thank you for our wonderful goody bag. The items were delicious and we consumed most of them. The rest we shared

with relatives in the area.

We are blessed to have family nearby. We enjoyed a yacht excursion with friends, had a lobster and oyster feed, bonfire at their home, had a flock of turkeys visit at your place--about 30 in number. So fun to watch. Ran into friends from our hometown in Kansas in Bar Harbor--very small world! We enjoyed the pastries from the Governor's Restaurant and Bakery, yummy food from Dog and Pony Tavern, and pizza at Little Anthony's. Also the haddock (fixed any way) was good at Governor's.

All in all, it was a delightful visit to Maine. The trees were just beginning to change color as we left. But we did not plan our trip for the trees--just for a great family reunion. Your home made it very special and we will recommend it to anyone we know is visiting the area.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review--it sounds like you had a wonderful time! Guests frequently wonder about restaurant recommendations and it sounds like you had good experiences during your visit: The Governor's Restaurant (in Ellsworth), the Dog and Pony Tavern (Bar Harbor), and Anthony's (also in Bar Harbor). Thank you for sharing some of your experiences. And, aren't the turkeys a fun surprise? They don't always make an appearance, but when they do, it is quite entertaining to listen to and watch them. We hope we will have the pleasure of your company again in the future!

Heavenly

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home is in an ideal location, where one can easily travel to picturesque coves, fishing villages and quaint towns. It is also close to local restaurants with great food and atmosphere.

The setting of the home is tranquil, peaceful, surrounded by forest and natural plantings. The home is very elegant, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. The "gazebo" invites you to relax.

We cannot wait to come again!

Beautiful home near Acadia National Park

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Oak Point. The house and grounds are beautiful including the outdoor living space where you can have your morning coffee. The kitchen is amazing and has everything you need. June is very helpful and welcoming. We easily got to Acadia each day and enjoyed the park. We would definitely recommend the Oak Point cottage and would come back again!

This place is a gem

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this property if you're going to Acadia. The place is very well equipped, especially the kitchen. Here are our highlights:

* The outdoor patio is spectacular, no need to worry about bugs while you're grilling out on the very nice Webber grill

* The entertainment system is very nice, plenty to watch and tvs with cable in every room.

* The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was high end

* The location is great if you want an affordable way to access Acadia, and I liked how Ellsworth was close (plenty of big box stores)

* The traffic on Oak Point Rd. is nowhere near as busy as the main roads on Mt. Desert Island

* Walking distance to the shoreline

This lovely accommodation is close to everything, yet in a quiet location especially suited to those who would like to return to peace and quiet after a full day of activities. There is a wide selection of activities to be enjoyed in the Acadia region--something for everyone. In addition to the spectacular beauty of the National Park, the quaint and historic communities of the island, and approximately 120 miles of hiking trails and carriage roads, there are wonderful destinations nearby that are great for day trips (i.e. Schoodic Peninsula, Stonington, Camden/Rockland, Campobello Island, and so forth). Within close proximity of the cottage are grocery shopping, gas stations, lobster pounds, and the Chamber's Visitors Center.
