About Daniel Ford
Hi, we are Daniel and Teresa Ford of Cosby, Tennessee. We were born and raised in East Tennessee in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Daniel, his dad, and his brother owned a business for many years and now he is enjoying retirement. I was a stay home mom of three boys and now we are enjoying being grandparents.
Daniel Ford purchased this Cabin in 2010
Why Daniel Ford chose Hartford
The property has been in the Ford family for many generations and Daniel's dad built the cabin in 2010. Sadly, his dad passed away in October 2014. Going to Grassy Fork is getting away from the pressures of the everyday life. There is no cell phone service but we do have internet, wifi and landline. There is only peace and quiet and the enjoyment of God's beautiful creation. We go up often just to take advantage of the serenity which we hope you will enjoy too.
What makes this Cabin unique
This cabin has two bedrooms and a loft area for sleeping. In all there are 7 beds and lots of room for mattress on the floor. Also, couches and sofas. The property is to itself on 37 acres with pond with stocked fish, and Charlie the horse. I live 16 miles away in the valley. From the Cabin to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge is about 50 minutes. Kids love this place, playing in the creek, paddle boat, feeding fish, catch and release, fire pit, making smores, big yard, two bridges over the creek, feeding Charlie carrots, if you have AWD or 4x4, go to top of Snowbird Mtn. and hike the A.T. to Wildcat Springs about .88 miles.

Beautiful home. Great place for a getaway.
Great host. Great home. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Thanks for booking with us we hope you’ll come again
Wonderful cabin in the mountains for a big family
A great property and attentive owner. Enough room for a large family (2 adults, 9 kids) and plenty of activities. The mountain creek is fun to play in, fishing in the pond, hikes in the mountains (the appellation trail is only a mile hike up to snowbird mountain) and many other parks and destinations. The cabin was large and very clean. The owner met us just off the highway to guide us the final steps (although it's easy enough with directions). Bathrooms all worked well, with good showers. Dish washer, grill and stove all worked great for home cooked meals. Overall a wonderful time in the mountains. The owner worked with us on a split trip with a return stop on our way from another destination, very flexible and accommodating. Worthy of my vacation days and money.
Dave, you guys were great! Hope you can come back sometime soon.
Lot's of space!
We rented the cabin over the weekend of New Years, and were amazed at how well it was able to accommodate even all 16 of us!
The property is beautiful and removed, with tons of open space and a gorgeous sunset view. We only had a little bit of time, but did everything we could to enjoy the entire property, from fishing and paddleboating (both with all materials provided) in the pond to playing ball in the huge yard to the outdoor fire pit to the spacious living room and wood burning stove (all firewood was supplied, split and stacked for us!). The kitchen has all brand new appliances, and plenty of space, even to cook and clean for 16 people. When the night got cold, we were plenty cozy with the help of our wood burning stove, some people even complained about being too toasty!
In addition I have to offer a big thank you to Daniel, the owner, for his kindness and accessibility. Daniel was never more than a quick phone call or text away, and helped us explore everything the property had to offer. He even gave us some great advice about hiking in Cosby Park nearby. If you have the chance, ask him about scuba diving too!
If you are looking for a place with plenty to do on property
Thanks Joe, hope you can come back in the near future. kindest regards, Daniel
Perfect! Secluded Getaway!
Beautiful home tucked deep in the mountain. Just a short drive to attractions like white water rafting or Gatlinburg.
We stayed a week with our three boys (ages 13, 10, 2). There was plenty of room to spread out and keep everyone happy. Grandma and Grandpa came for a few days and had a first floor bedroom and bath all to themselves!
We watched wild turkey run around the pond in the morning and rocked in rocking chairs each night listening to crickets.
The baby fed the fish each morning. It was relaxing as a parent as we could let the big boys explore and could watch from the porch while they messed around in the creek or fished in the pond. My Gosh! The size of the fish they pulled out!
We used the paddle boat almost everyday. The highlight for us was driving up Snowbird mountain and hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail.
The house is spectacular with every accommodation and Mr Ford was a pleasure to work with while booking.
We will absolutely be back!
My only suggestion would be bigger coffee cups! I could sit on the porch FOREVER rocking and sipping coffee :)
I cannot say enough about this beautiful home and property. Owner Daniel is wonderful to work with and quickly fulfills any request. Plenty of room in the house, bring your fishing poles for catch and release fishing in the stocked pond, my husband caught a 5 pound bass peddling around the pond in the paddle boat that is provided, the kids caught several yearling bass and bream thoughout the week. The stream is nice and cold, very refreshing. The grandkids enjoyed sitting and looking for special rocks. I got a $1.97 float at Walmart and layed it in the stream to lay on. My husband made a recliner out of rocks and sat in the stream leaning against the rocks. There is a cornhole game and we had tournaments every night. Don 't forget the ingredients for smores, the fire pit by the stream is nice. Early mornings, you can sit on the front porch in the rockers and watch for the turkeys to come out around the pond. My mom enjoyed watching them several mornings. We will be back to visit. We loved it! Daniel the only suggestion we have, is label the light switches. There are a lot of ceiling fans and lights in the house and on the porches and it was difficult to figure them all out, lol. Thanks for your hospitality Daniel. We highly recommend this property!
Thanks for staying with us. Come back anytime. I was glad to see your Dad bring a golf cart. I'm sure that made it better for him getting around and the kids I'm sure liked it too. Tell Mike there is one bass bigger than the one he caught. Its more like 7 lbs! But maybe the next time. I liked the idea of the "slip-n-slide" on the hill. I may keep one there for others to use.
Tell your Dad I said hello and wish we had more time to talk. He is an honorable man.
Beautiful, serene family getaway
The trip began with the owner meeting us at a gas station to lead us to the cabin to ensure we found it without mishap. The cabin itself is brand new and beautiful. The location is remote but that's what we were looking for. We didn't want to go to a "community" of cabins that are on top of each other. The property is beautiful with a lovely pond with a paddle boat that my kids got a kick out of. And if you want to have a little city mixed in with your trip, gatlinburg and pigeon forge are within an hours drive. Loved it. Hope to go again someday!
Thanks for staying with us and glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again. kindest regards, Daniel
This Home Away home is in a tranquil area. It is a great place to get back to nature, read a book or lounge by an open fire. There are horse stables available for those who would bring horses. Rafting at Hartford. Fishing in the lake/pond is permitted. Snowbird mountain scenic drive can be made with AWD or 4WD vehicles. There are hiking trails nearby and can be accessed from the cabin. The Appalachian Trail is accessible from top of Snowbird mountain or from Waterville exit off I-40.
