John and Melanie Peters live in Decatur, Alabama. We discovered the joy and beauty of Renegade Mountain by accident several years ago. We purchased a chalet on the mountain in 2009, then purchased and updated this condo in 2011.
John is a business owner, golfer, and avid photographer. Melanie is a professional grandmother looking after a herd of 6 (and growing) grandchildren. She is learning to play golf in her non-existent spare time.
John Peters purchased this condo in 2011
We love the peace and solitude of Renegade Mountain (and the old golf course located beside the 18th green) and the close proximity to the many golf courses in the Crossville area. There is much to do and see in the Crossville area and we discover new adventures on every visit. There are hiking and biking adventures available the second you step outside and your feet touch the top of the mountain. We invite you to come and experience this mountain beauty and soltude for yourself at our luxurious and comfortable condo. We offer amenities that both husbands and wives will enjoy.
We provide a luxury condo with plenty of room and all the comforts (and more) of home in a remote mountain setting. The condo is close to Crossville and its many golf courses, but still provides the quiet, peaceful isolation of a beautiful, quiet setting. You can lose yourself in nature as soon as you step out of the condo, or stay inside and enjoy all the comfort and convenience of a very comfortable home.
This is my kind of vacationing. I wish we were staying longer. The condo is so very spacious that it held five people and dogs without any of us getting in each others way.
Beds and furniture were both comfortable and pretty. Kitchen supplied with everything needed.
We will definitely consider this our place
when we return. Hoping it is always available!
The condo is beyond what my husband and I expected. The pictures do not do it justice. It was beautiful inside. I would love to see what the mountain top looks like during fall season. So comfortable and relaxing for a couple's getaway. The jacuzzi tub felt awesome after long day of golfing. The people around were very nice and respectful.
The condo provided most all the modern conveniences that a family would need. It was clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the hot tub very much. The weather was very nice. We were very pleased that when we discovered the washer didn't work, the owner had a new one installed expeditiously. The condo is remotely located on top of the mountain with a few other condos but is reasonably accessible to the things we enjoy doing such as golf, shopping, and the playhouse theater.
We spent a few days here while our girls were at Flipfest in Crossville. The condo is lovely and has really nice views on a nice night. The history of the area is interesting to read and we hope they get some investors who will rebuild the area, because it's offers breathtaking views.
We didn't spend a lot of time in the condo, but it's a nice central location for short day trips to Chattanooga, Gatlinburg, Knoxville, and Nashville. There is a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe's in Knoxville, only 50 minutes from the condo.
The condo is well-equipped and very comfortable. It does need a corkscrew, wine glasses, and a pizza cutter, but it had everything else we needed. The neighbors were really nice and the area is beautiful. We did not take many hikes along the cart paths but we did walk up the hill to the water tower and the former clubhouse around sunset, which was gorgeous.
When our girls return for Flipfest, we will definitely try and book this place again.
Pretty cool place. It was exactly what we were looking for. It's a little further away from the golf courses, maybe 30 minutes, but not bad at all. The view was great. It looks like it is in an abandoned golf community which was too bad because I think the old clubhouse was right behind our condo, that would have been nice ha ha. It was clean and kept up nice. 3 flat screens, comfy couch, beds were very comfortable. We weren't in the condo much, really only used the coffee maker but it seemed like there was everything you would need to make your own food if you wanted to. If I had to pick a negative, the water pressure was lacking but it's on top of a mountain so that's what you're gonna get. All in all I'd stay there again next time we come up without hesitation.
We really enjoyed staying at this lovely condo and would definitely stay again. The space was big and had a great view. My children were ready to move in!! My family and I were there to see the surrounding areas for possible relocation. The place was super clean and the beds were comfortable. It was centrally located and nicely decorated. Very pretty and cozy!
I only gave 4 stars for a few reasons. A few things you should know when you stay.... The wind is very strong up there on the mountain. I would guess that is why they are putting a wind energy farm in Crab Orchard. It blows really strong at night and against the backside of the condo. It is really loud. I had a difficult time sleeping soundly due to it. I am usually a very sound sleeper so it made it difficult to rest.
The master bathroom was very dark, could barely see in the shower. There were several light bulbs out including the one in the heater, which really effected the lighting in there.
There is no instructions on how to use the hot tub/jacuzzi. We had to call the grounds keeper. Luckily there was someone there who could turn the water back on to the tub (which wasn't located in the condo) so we could fill it. Which brings me to the next part, there was maintanence being done to the place while we were there, yet the grounds were full of downed branches and tree limbs. We had to move several in order to park.
A few things I could suggest the condo needs: pizza cutter, instructions on how to operate the hot tub, coffee maker, stove (I live in FL, we use electric appliances and the stove is gas) and the fireplace.
Our condo is located at the top of Renegade Mountain at an elevation of 2600 feet. We are centrally located among 15 great golf courses, Cumberland Mountain State Park, Cumberland Trail State Park, and a number of local attractions. There are hiking and biking trails all around the mountain and the golf course (closed), along with a wide selection of wildlife and many species of birds. The hummingbird population on the mountain is unbelievable in the summer.
