I offer a very friendly, relaxing, comfortable and clean accommodations for those travelling in our scenic area. Located centrally between 2 main areas- Saint John the city and St. Martins the village, makes my spot a great place to plan day trips in either direction and return home at night for a very quiet and restful sleep.
I am about a 30 minute drive east of Saint John the city and about a 20 minute drive to St. Martins, the village.
Out in the country, next to the Bay of Fundy, on the Fundy Scenic Drive, New Brunswick Route 825. Garnett Settlement Road.
Gardner Creek, is the name of our wonderful little area, so friendly and peaceful and has some of the best views of the Bay and surrounding coastline of the area. From just about every window in my house one can look out and see the Bay because we are out on a peninsula which sticks out off the main coast of the mainland.
Lots of space to roam around outside on our property with gardens and decks and patios equipped with chairs and tables, hiking along our country roads is a favorite of our guests. Many attractions in and around the area in both directions. Sea caves, covered bridges, sandy beaches, seafood restaurants and lobsters sold on a wharf nearby, museums, shopping, water attractions, reversing falls in Saint John, Zoo, Golf, and your regular attractions that most places offer.
I am called a Tourist Home, /Guest House, because I do not live in this house which I rent out to guests. I live right next door in my own home. The guest have the house to themselves. Everyone has their own house key to come and go as they please and locks of coarse on every bedroom door.
It has worked out so well over all the years , people just love it. Having their privacy in the daytime and evening with their family and friends. Great for families travelling together like grand parents and their families.
I open my gallery and small store which is on the lower level of the house only on days that guests are not staying. During Covid times I am only open at my shop on Thursdays, Fridays , Saturdays and Sundays, from 1:00 pm. Store closes after 6:00 pm.
In my gallery I offer paintings ,prints and cards and different items hand painted by myself. We also sell antiques in the gallery. I have been painting since I was a small child and that wasn't yesterday!! Plus scooped ice cream when open.
If you have never been to the coast of the Bay of Fundy, you won't be disappointed. The coming and going of our tides is spectacular and the height that the water can reach is mind boggling. To see the floor of the Bay one minute and them look out and see how much it changes in such a short time makes people amazed. Living here all my life, it still takes my breath away to wake up to a fantastic sunrise over the Bay and then watch the colors reflect on the water in the evening sunsets. Just the sound and the smell of the waves crashing along the shores puts you in another place of peace and tranquility. I think I can offer some of the freshest salty air one could possible breathe .As you can tell I am a bit proud of where I live. You won't be disappointed I guarantee!
Whale watching is another popular event that people love to partake in and it is offered in an area just south of us along the coastal drive coming up from the USA. Sea Kayaking is another fun activity offered up in St. Martins. The Fundy Trail Parkway, is by far one of the nicest newer parks to travel through to see in New Brunswick it offers beautiful hiking and biking trails and for travelers going through in their cars. Breathtaking scenery and miles of unspoiled terrain to explore. A guest could spend a full day up there no problem or continue on their travels upto Alma where Hopewell Rocks are located. Farther up the coast heading towards Moncton area.
Come join us and live the Maritime experience while your on holidays.
Let my home, be your home, away from home!

Fiona changed our plans to get to stay in this lovely home
We didn’t get to stay here, we were so excited about it. We were making our way to Prince Edward Island, we had to change plans. May, the owner was always very communicative with me from the time I made the reservation, she promptly answered all my questions. I hope to try to make this trip again next year and stay at this beautiful place.

Lovely stay!
We had a wonderful time here!! Beautifully decorated home with a gorgeous view. Great location-we enjoyed checking out St. Martins caves while we were there and had a yummy dinner at the restaurant down by the caves. House is clean and check in was easy. May is a lovely host-enjoyed chatting with her and she went above and beyond and found my kids football when we lost it in the bushes! She’s a talented artist and we enjoyed looking at her shop. She had a well stocked kitchen with staples for us to use for breakfast and had s’mores supplies which we used with the firepit. Delicious homemade cookies were there when we arrived. Would highly recommend this lovely home. Wish we could have stayed longer!! Thank you for the happy memories May!

If you are looking for a relaxing retreat overlooking the Bay of Fundy, this home is a great option! May is not just opening her home for guests, she is sharing part of her family history. After a long drive, it was nice to find homemade bread and cookies awaiting our arrival. The kitchen is generously stocked with spices, condiments, jams etc. We learned a lot about the area from May. If you time we would suggest a visit to St. Martin's to witness the changing of the tides and explore the sea caves. Thanks May, we highly recommend your home. About the host

Hosted by May Moore

Host profile image
I am married with three grown children. Have been self employed for over twenty years. Operating and owning the Tourist Home/Bed an breakfast and gallery for the last twenty years. This was my family homestead which I grew up in and when I took it over I decided to share it with the rest of the world and let others enjoy its charm and character. I have renovated it over the years to make it more updated for my guests and have enjoyed the whole process . Meeting all the different guests from all over the world makes it stay fresh and fun and you are always wondering where my next couple is coming from?
Being an artist for over fifty years has been my biggest pleasure and gives me an outlet to express myself and to relax with over the years. I love to paint pictures that people can relate to or means something to a person for some reason of their own. I do a lot of commission work for people of the area and also have sold countless numbers of paintings overseas and in the United States. I get great satisfaction from knowing that a little piece of me is all around the world on someone's wall in their home or office. I do not get much chance to travel myself but love to hear from others about different areas from around the world. Maybe someday my ship will come in and I will travel like those who have passed through my doors. I always say living here satisfies my needs for life.
. My family is number one and I'm fortunate to have them all living handy in our area. Now a grandmother of three, makes it even nicer that they are close by. I guess being around people is what I feed off of, whither it is for conversation or getting an idea for a painting, I am a people person. My Mother always said if you have something worth sharing a person should share it with others. I took on this project in memory of her and my father.

Why they chose this property

I did not purchase this home. It was left to me from my parents and the location is so spectacular it made perfect sense to do this with the old farm house. High on a hill overlooking the beautiful Bay of Fundy, in a peaceful, caring community. The old farm house was designed so well to do something like this that it all worked out in the long run. A few new renovations in bathrooms and new kitchen updates made it work. People love the space and quietness that it offers to them. I had one guest sitting out in the chairs on my veranda one morning meditating as the sun came up over the bay and he said he had not experienced another situation like this in his travels for a long time. That made me feel so good for him and the fact that I had decided to do this for others to enjoy.
Big cities are great but sometimes you just need to get out of that noise and confusion and take time to breathe.

What makes this property unique

Home cooked breakfast is always a big hit for my guests, everything is homemade right down to the homemade bread and jams offered. I always have homemade sweets in the kitchen for them to snack on throughout the day and tea and coffee.
The quietness of the evening is another big bonus and not having to get up too early if you want to sleep in for a change is nice for some. Being so handy to either areas or even outside of this range, one can be in Sussex or St. Stephens within an hour or so which is nice when you want to do day trips here and there. Everyone is treated like family or a friend while staying so just be yourself and we'll be fine. Our Maritime hospitality is our biggest feature.
Having full use of the kitchen to cook for yourselves throughout the day is a big plus for a lot of my travellers especially with children travelling with them. Helps to cut costs so one can go and enjoy some of the finer things we have to offer. The laundry is available to my guests too and we have a clothes line outside where they can if they want to hang out their clothes to get that fresh salty air smell. Quite a treat to someone who lives in the city and maybe came from an area years ago that had a clothes line. I hang most of my linens out there daily to dry for the bedding on the beds upstairs. There is a dryer for days that one is too busy or too wet.
I would not live any where else. I grew up in this house and it has been passed down and down generations to me and I guess they all felt the same way. Lots of history and memories held in the walls in the old house. It has a charm and warmth as soon as you enter the front door. They don't make them like they did 200 years ago. all original woodwork and pretty much the same layout with just a few updates throughout to make it comfortable for my guests.
Working small farm at one time and a history of shipbuilding in the area makes for great stories to relate to guests if they are interested in hearing them.
